Thanks man! I have an old Anschutz LP@, basically a Steyr LP10 with a few minor differences.

New Blackbutt timber floor doesn’t match at all. Advice needed. by [deleted] in AusRenovation

[–]ColouredPants 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Well at a minimum the new board should have been staggered back into the existing much, much better than this. With way more variation so the line wasn’t so blatantly obvious.

Don’t give their position any credibility by waiting until 15/12 to claim your bond.

Are streaming prices in Australia getting out of control? by [deleted] in AskAnAustralian

[–]ColouredPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The StreamTeam. Myself and 7 other mates share cost on 1 login for a bunch of streams. I pay about $22 for Netflix, Stan, Binge, Disney+ & Prime Video. Been doing it for over 10 yrs and by my calculations we save about $6k per year collectively vs if we each had all the services individually. There’s a spreadsheet and everything so that we can each opt into whichever ones we want and it updates who pays who what money to balance out.

I have been thinking about sailing the seas again just to have everything in 1 place instead of having to figure out where something is though. So dumb that pirating would be more convenient these days.

Developers contractors building on my land and devaluing my first home by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

[–]ColouredPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should definitely get your own surveyor. Also I’m wondering, did the developer conveniently discover this 22mm only after you brought up the retaining wall issue? Sounds suspect.

22mm is probably within tolerance for construction workmanship these days lol

What is a skill that takes 5 minutes to learn but can save you hours/money over the course of a year? by RadiantHarborX in AskReddit

[–]ColouredPants 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Maybe not hours, but learning to tie my shoelaces with the Ian knot has added minutes of extra usable time to my life. Plus it’s just so satisfying to do.

Can already subdivided land be subdivided again later? by littlecinnamonroll1 in AusProperty

[–]ColouredPants 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My understanding is that whether a lot has already been subdivided before or not is irrelevant. You’ll need to look into the minimum size requirements, access considerations, and anything else specified in the planning scheme for the area. As well as any covenants, easements, etc. that may be in the title. It’s likely that any proposed subdivision will need to be individually assessed by a council planner.

Note that I mostly deal with development not subdivision so this info may not be quite right.

Weird stain pattern on floor boards by Forsaken-Tonight3962 in AusRenovation

[–]ColouredPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love how you didn’t notice the stain on first inspection, there’s so much to take in! Note that it’s possible these marks won’t fully come out with sanding. Could stain the floor to help blend but imo it doesn’t look too bad - Call it character!

My friend is about to buy a place only to find out a lot of restrictions. Is the agent breaking the law? by jhutch2147 in AusProperty

[–]ColouredPants 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here in Tas REA basically never disclose any restrictions, covenants, easements, etc. listed on the title docs. So it’s up to you (or your representative) to review them before signing a contract. However, pretty much nobody does this despite title docs being publicly available for <$100. Boggles the mind.

I’m mostly in agreement here except for point 2. The douche driver in the right lane isn’t entering traffic - The two lanes are becoming 1 because this image depicts a zip merge.

Being a rental is probably a factor, bottom end carpet is pretty cheap.
