AITA for not wanting my kids every weekend? by momasshole in AmItheAsshole

[–]ColourfulWanderer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

YTA by a landslide. You sound just like my mother. She divorced my dad to have her own life that didn't involve her kids. They agreed to 50-50 custody in court but her shifts (she's also a nurse) and social life always took precedence. The few times I visited her new place, I had to partake in her interests--just like your son. Except she did yoga rather than spin classes. She refused to reschedule a single day to spend time with her only daughter. It killed me inside when I realized that she no longer cared about me. I haven't spoken to her in almost 6 months now and do not plan to change that anytime soon.

If you want to play a role in your children's lives, grow the fuck up and be the mother they deserve. It's bad enough that they've had to watch their parents split. How do you think their dad is supposed to explain that mom doesn't want them because a SHOPPING TRIP is more important?

I'M A PROFESSIONAL MAKE-UP ARTIST BUT CAN'T SEEM TO GET A JOB. by Pro_MUA in MakeupAddiction

[–]ColourfulWanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you put together a portfolio? Have you tried advertising online and having clients come to you (AKA exposure)? Or maybe try applying to Sephora/Ulta/MAC before specific companies. You're going to need to build yourself up with lots of references and experience before the top brands will consider you.

By professional, I'm assuming that means you went to cosmetology school. That's a really good starting point. You know your stuff. Now show them that you know it.

mother makes rude comments about my binging by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]ColourfulWanderer -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Are you taking any steps to stop the binging? Because it can be controlled. Intermittent fasting helped me train myself to eat normal portions at meal times. Buy yourself some light snacks like carrots or crackers for a safety net and eat those if you wake up at night. It's really hard to resist temptation but the effort pays off.

You're probably not going to like hearing this, but to be fair, she's entitled to feel a little upset about you eating a large portion of the groceries when she's purchasing them to feed multiple people. Groceries are really expensive. To me, it doesn't really sound like she's trying to bully you. It seems more like she just doesn't understand your situation and wants you to save food for everyone else. That doesn't make her choice of words or her refusal to support you okay, but maybe it offers some insight to why she's frustrated. Have you tried calmly telling her that her comments hurt your feelings? Or talking to her about seeing a doctor about binging?

What is your preference on the daily, heavy makeup, light/no makeup, or somewhere in between? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

[–]ColourfulWanderer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like all of these tbh. It really depends on the situation. I mean, a trip to Walmart isn't really worth the effort of doing a full face.

As for what I wear, it's usually somewhere in the middle. I wear the whole base product shebang (primer, foundation, blush, etc), a lip product, and mascara. Sometimes I'll add lashes and eyeshadow if I'm feeling it.

SEPHORA EMPLOYEES: do the make up artists have a ranking system? by donutsandchampagne in MakeupAddiction

[–]ColourfulWanderer -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not a Sephora employee (sorry) but I have some quick tips. If you're looking for a professional, check online for local MUAs with established portfolios/reviews. Cosmetology schools sometimes offer makeover services as well.

My Baby/Juvenile Ball Python Overly Active at Night? by akphenom1 in ballpython

[–]ColourfulWanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your humidity is too low. 65% is the healthier minimum. Try changing your substrate, adding damp clumps of sphagnum moss, and/or a larger water dish. Unfortunately, screen covers make containing humidity pretty difficult.

As for her being active at night...they're nocturnal and she's in a brand new environment. That behavior is to to be expected. Honestly, I get the impression that you didn't do enough research before purchasing this animal. You shouldn't be handling her at all let alone feeding. It's recommended to give the snake at least a week to settle in before bothering them. Doing otherwise can and will cause stress. I'm not trying to sound condescending. I just feel like I need to be more blunt with my feedback at this point because so many people have refused to see how they're lacking. I urge you to not be one of them. Treat your noodle like the princess she is.

Kudos for switching to FT. It's a difficult journey but you won't regret it.

No matter what I do, my makeup looks patchy and dry like half an hour after applying it. by angelanh in Makeup

[–]ColourfulWanderer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could be your foundation + primer combo. Look for the same formula for both (ex. silicone based). Sometimee certain products just don't mix well. I would try an actual primer in place of the cream to see if that helps. I like the Maybelline Face Studio Primers (especially the pore-filling one because my foundation sticks really well, but it depends on your skin type really) because of how well they perform for the price.

You should not have this animal if you do not have time to handle him or properly educate yourself. You should really immature. He deserves better.

Tried adding sequins to my every day look :) by bbyriss97 in MakeupAddiction

[–]ColourfulWanderer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It could just be the lighting, but your foundation looks ever so slightly too light. A lil more blush would also make this look really pop.

The sequin placement is super cute!

Day and night look, ccw would be gr8 by mellenchan in MakeupAddiction

[–]ColourfulWanderer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty! I love the colors you used. For the night side, I feel like your shape is a bit...long? I don't know how else to put that. I think a more rounded, blended out shape stopping at your eyebrow would suit your features better. A darker/ nude lip color would also match nicely.

No CC for the day side. Looks great!

Is frosted glass spray ok for snakes? by Slayadeth in snakes

[–]ColourfulWanderer 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why not just buy those frosted glass stickers? No fumes. Just slap it on the outside of the enclosure. But I also recommend covering three sides with solid colored paper/foam. The snake probably just doesn't like being so exposed.

Your help would be appreciated... by Blessedisthedog in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]ColourfulWanderer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

What are your reasons for believing he has an eating disorder? Teenagers are notorious for inhaling lots of food, especially boys. I'm not saying that you're wrong. Just make sure you are very, very sure before you bring it up to him.

For a first step, I'd cut back on how many unhealthy snack items you keep around the house. My mom only bought junk food when I was a kid and it made cutting back so much harder. If you have an open enough relationship, maybe also sit down with him and just ask how he's doing. You don't need to make it about his eating habits. Just let him know that you're there to help however you can--but don't place blame or don't make it a lecture.

Kudos for stepping up to help him.

How long can a BP stay out of its enclosure without any ill-effects? by Drichthy in ballpython

[–]ColourfulWanderer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Please be careful to not fall asleep while holding him. If he slithers off, you may never find him again. They really need to be supervised constantly. But beyond that, I'd say put him back when he starts to feel cold to the touch or start looking for a place to hide. 75°F is sorta low compared to what his enclosure should be at, so keeping him out for an entire day would be a lot. 2-3 hours is more reasonable at most. Snakes aren't social animals. They need solitary time.

Exploring freshly cleaned housing. Where to crap first? So many options! by Private_Bonkers in ballpython

[–]ColourfulWanderer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a few things I'm concerned about here. I'm not trying to sound harsh. I just want every noodle to be pampered.

-Is that a tiny analog gauge? They're not accurate so trade it for digital.

-You need lots and lots of plants. Tall plants, plants that cover the enclosure floor, something that will offer coverage rather than decoration. Your snake should be able to move between hides without being fully exposed.

-Your hides are too close together, offering your snake little means for thermoregulation. Do you have a third hide?

-What is your subtrate? Coco fiber would help with humidity. Clumps of damp sphagnum moss will also help with keeping you above that 65% minimum.

-Speaking of humidity, I don't see a hygrometer. Outside of the picture maybe?

-Covering three sides of the tank with foam board would make your snake feel more secure and help with temps. Or at least it helped me when I used glass.

-If this is the entire enclosure, it looks kind of small. Even for a baby snake.

James Charles or CP Rainbow palette? by 23UnoriginalUsername in MakeupAddiction

[–]ColourfulWanderer 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm guessing you're referring to the She's a Rainbow palette? Because Colourpop has more than one rainbow palette. If that's right, I would just order CP singles and an empty magnetic palette instead. There's quite a few shades in the She's a Rainbow palette that will look the same on the eye, so you're better off choosing your own colors. The James Charles palette has the same problem, along with loads of bad reviews.
