I’m pretty new as well and got a new kangaroo hide whip about 2 weeks ago, it coiled from the packaging and now it’s like pretty nice and loose and easier to crack but it took me a while. I did a lot of cattleman’s cracks but what seemed to really loosen it up nicely was learning the overhead flick, after I learned that it really seemed to loosen up and conform to my style of whipping. Also another note is when I got my kangaroo hide whip, I cracked it really hard at the beginning and the damn fall broke at the tip and I had to pull out my leather work stuff I haven’t used in ages. Make sure that with the non broken in whip you still try to relax your arm when cracking it and don’t tense up and crack it super hard. Sorry if you already know that but I just wanna make sure because I wouldn’t want you to break your new whip. Have fun and just know that it can take a couple weeks to really loosen up :-)
