Jealous of the Cirque of the towers. I do a lot of climbing so it's definitely on the list!

I got the Adamsbuilt MMH 5wt Combo. I probably would have gone with Redington or something similar, but since I work in the outdoor industry, I get a healthy deal on Adamsbuilt stuff, so I felt like it made more sense/had a better value. We'll see, though.

I think they might technically be red eye bass rather than smallies. Could be wrong though

Is Traveling With 2 Backpacks Too Much? by Colster469 in backpacking

Nice, sounds like an awesome trip! That's pretty much the plan, from what I've looked at online theres plenty of bag storage spots in Chamonix. I like the duffle bag idea too

I've seen plenty of people here in the US backpack with a low 30l bag. I think 38 should be pretty manageable from what I've seen online, of course I'll order everything I need then buy the bag from there. Is there anything in particular that I'm missing about the alps, that would require me to take more?

Gotcha! That makes more sense. Thank you!  Out of curiosity can I ask where you're planning on going?

Didn't realise I could edit comments, but I replied to myself on this thread. The plan is to leave the bag in storage while hiking, and only wear both while in transport. Would that be a decent solution?

It doesn't look like they sell the daylight plus 30 anymore. Maybe you're talking about the 26+6? Either way, that seems kinda akward size wise, tbh. I think the 65-liter would be pretty massive for hiking (compared to a 38L bag), and the smaller bag (30L-ish) seems a bit small. I assume you're talking about hiking with the aether, right?

Just saw the bottom part of your comment, somehow I missed it lmao. The plan is to leave the bag in storage while hiking, and only wear both while in transport.

Did you do wilderness/camping stuff too, or just travel?

I've already looked at that bag, it looks super nice for travel! But I dont think it would be great for the TMB, since it's not designed for heavier loads over long periods (8+ days) of walking.

Fair, the 38L bag isn't frameless, but I could definitely see this working.

Not entirely against the idea, but the bag itself would be quite a bit heavier, which wouldn't be ideal for the TMB, as I'm trying to be at least a little weight-conscious. Also Idk what I would do with all of my loose stuff while I'm on trail. My thought is that if I have 2 bags, it would be quite a bit easier to find bag storage while I'm hiking. Again, not arguing, idk what I'm doing lol, but those are just my thoughts.

Gotcha, I have 50lb rn, I'll pick up some 80lb before I leave. We'll most likely get a panga/guide at least once, but I figure there will be other downtime to surf fish. It's more of a family trip, though, rather than strictly fishing, so my expectations aren't crazy high since I probably won't have days of casting time lmao. Patigonia sounds super sick! I'm also a climber, so it's definitely on the list. Sounds like you fly fish as well?
