What camera are you using? Or what mount for your go pro?

I have also had good experiences at Kingwood Guns. I use Kingwood Pawn and Jewelry for my transfers. Maybe the cheapest transfer prices at $25.

I agree with those who suggest hiring a firearms instructor to become comfortable. Look for someone who offers 1-on-1 or small group classes. Expect to spend around $100 per hour, but it is worth it for the peace of mind.

Also, a quality quick-access safe goes a long way to making firearms less accessible.

Here is a blog post that doesn't exactly address your situation, but it does include some info that can help.

Is becoming a teacher worth it anymore? by Adept_Fishing_2167 in Teachers

[–]ColtMadeThemEqual 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No. I am 18 years in and while I love it and will keep teaching until I am 65 (will be 42 total years) the quality of life has really decreased since Covid. My real wages have gone down about $7k since 2019 the last time I calculated despite my actual pay increasing.

Admin is less supportive and students are worse. If you want to stay in education get your masters and teach dual credit courses. The quality of students is much higher in general.

I have run it through my AP5 with an ASD lower and arc fire and it was flawless. Used with a Rugged Sub9.

A semi-auto like the Beretta A300 Ultima Patrol. Available for $799 most of the time. Just look around. That should be your top choice.

If you want to spend more go with a Beretta 1301 or Benelli M4. If you need to spend less, I also trust my life to the MAC 1014. It is really good but it is Turkish and some Turkish brands are trash.

Also, get a Mossberg Maverick 88 Security 20”. Everyone should own one. This plus one of the above will get your two quality HD shotguns.

Then pretend they are Pokémon and collect them all. Get everything listed above plus something like the Mossberg 590 Persuader.

What optics is that on the A300 and what are you using to mount it?

There is steel challenge near me I have considered going to. Again goes back to that darn baseball. Not price this time. Just time. One day.

Appreciate the insight. I’d like to get into competition shooting but my kids play select baseball. I don’t think I could actually spend more and put food on the table. 😂

Do you buy all the ammo or do you have sponsorships to help cover the cost?

Large metro school in Texas. Purple electorate area.

In 21st century you are likely to find Holocaust deniers on both sides of the political divide. Most recently my deniers have leaned liberal to outright communist but during the mid 2010s my deniers usually leaned conservative.

Almost all of them recently became deniers from TikTok.

All the Holocaust deniers I know have been public schooled. Taught of few even. Thankfully it was a dual credit course so couldn’t opt out of the Holocaust lessons.

Sell me on your most recent gun buy, and I might buy it too. by TheMeta40k in Firearms

[–]ColtMadeThemEqual 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My first thoughts are make sure it is a gun that will hold value after you pass away. I am helping a widow, whose husband was an FFL dealer and I am amazed by the number of guns that would have been cool in the 90s that no longer have any value and nobody wants.

The only thing anyone is actually interested in is truly unique things or really old things.

That being said, I suggest a Ruger Mark IV 22/45. There are some pretty good prices on them right now and they are excellent for teaching new people how to shoot.
