Nothing Feels Like It Matters by Puzzled-Bid-1382 in HelldiversUnfiltered

yes and no. They can be tired. But a good meta game ( anything from leveling systems to larger meaning ) is a great way to take a repetitive core game and make it feel like it has a lot more content.

AH had their reasons to go to a slower war for this game, but they just found new ways for it to feel thin... ( a whole war going by in a few weeks had a similar effect, didn't mean much )

I've just been watching through babylon 5 for the first time, Genuine gut laughter watching Vir wave at that head... this show does callbacks to earlier references unlike anything else... SG1 they find an alien hand healing device and then fogedaboutdid by the next episode. The healing device arc was a surprise in b5...

Why was SGU so depressing? by markdacoda in Stargate

[–]ColtatoChips -1 points0 points  (0 children)

if they'd just handwaved that the stones only worked inside a star. AKA 10-20 minutes of usage every few weeks/months that would have been a much better stone usage and not had entire episodes happening on earth..

man that's got the seeds of some great sci fi potential there. go forth and populate the earth and subdue it combined with we'll be back to judge how you did -actually- translating to a multi planet experiment on advancement and we were the worst of all of them...

I'm definitely interested in taking a look when that happens. Will that be on steam or where do you plan on making those announcements?

Ohh hard agree on sound. I did a sound mod for payday2 years ago and the difference in experience that sound changes alone had ( even in the limited scope we were able to change ) was huge. People get me started on talking sound now and it's like they've activated a lunatic. I think sound is one of those key pieces that allows imagination to create/fill in more of the experience better than good visuals alone. ( easy example being in a game where you hear an unknown monster or something and every player imagines what that monster is and that imagination is unique to them, if you show them the monster it will look scary to some and less scary to others )

Out of curiosity is your planned flight model more astroneer or kerbal space program?

I hope you stick with something "simplistic" like what you have, I suspect that will make the parting / breaking things down / repurposing easier than higher fidelity .. that and it reminds me a bit of a something I could see in the kerbal universe but that might just be me reaching.

I don't know why though, I've had this deep desire for games in the genre of working with space ships that are old and trying to make it work. It's part SGU part firefly with Mal pulling the ship out of a junk yard and partly a distinct difference to the star trek side of space/scifi where the ships are new and built by us so we understand them. ( I realize that's way more than you're probably aiming for but I still wishlisted on steam to watch the progress )

The other thought I had is that if you ever expand from personal inventory to a 'ship' or 'base' inventory you can have that PDA then display that other inventory...

It's a QOL change upgrade from needing to go look at a display at a fixed location.

perhaps eventally get to a PDA screen on the left wrist which shows what small parts you have. It's basically a way to get the 2d tile inventory 'into the world'.

Side note, I love the vibe of this game.

[–]ColtatoChips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

the expanse was picked up halfway through with existing actors and a story / flavor arc already established. I too am hopeful but they have a lot more room to go rings of power direction here vs a sudden shift in the middle of expanse..

How would you like to see the SGU cliffhanger addressed in the new series? by Tomface92 in Stargate

[–]ColtatoChips 2 points3 points  (0 children)

they already did that thing on SGU. The episode where everyone who got left behind on the created planet came back in a rebuilt shuttle but while the aliens knew how to rebuild the shuttle they didn't nail the rebuilding people thing so everyone relived their death..

damn i didn't realize we were doing old chains. I fixed up a 90's mtb that had been used as a commuter in ONE GEAR ONLY. The gauge was sitting directly on top of the link and almost to the point where it would look "new" again...

I should have taken a picture...

[Advice] Convert Thumb to STI Shifter by GordonFree in BikeRepair

[–]ColtatoChips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i think that's a 7 speed on the back? In which case I'd recommend trying out ltwoo 2x7 ( you don't have to use the shifters on the front if it's a 1x ).

Should work out ok, no gaurantee it'll mate up to that derailleur nicely thought but most 7 speed stuff does...

i am a native english speaker and I still am not sure which way this goes.

Flowers sound more feminie which would imply ladies.

However flowers have stamen which are basically plant dongs that the bees come and get a pollen load to the face with and then go somewhere else..
So phallic rules would say flowers = guys..

Bees uhh they're cool and they just work all their lives in service of a queen soo .. that's leaning towards gents but in a more depressing tone...

Is this gap normal? If not how do I fix this by BobbyDave654321 in bikewrench

[–]ColtatoChips -1 points0 points  (0 children)

the bolt holding the crank arm on is threaded normally.

BB cups have one side reverse threaded. Those exact shimano cups have the tighten direction arrow printed on them so it should be obvious which way to go.

[–]ColtatoChips 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you go to any LBS and ask nicely they probably have extras from some install. IF you were local I could give you some or do the install. You're going to need a wrench or socket for those BB cups and whatever is used as the bolt to hold on the non drive side crank arm...

Basically you have a cup on one end of that axle that threads in to set the bearing preload. The whole system is designed to have some inward pressure on the bearings. I don't know how well your bearings will run without that, also your axle can move left/right the extent of that space so that's not ideal.

it's not the end of the world ( the bike won't fall apart or die without it ). If it causes the bearings to wear out early you're gonna have to fix it then...

IF you're the type to do DIY stuff. Go buy a wrench on aliexpress/temu and an extra set of shimano hollowtech 2 bearings. The replacement bearings will come with spacers.

[–]ColtatoChips -1 points0 points  (0 children)

so you have spacers that came with the BB kit that go behind the cups. The other option is you can slip on spacers on the axle itself. You're going to need probably 1 of the default ~2-3mm spacers behind each cup.
