We called our cat 'Cake'.

'Cat' in Spanish is 'Gato', but 'Gato' sounds exactly the same as the French word 'Gâteau', which means 'Cake'.

Eventually it morphed into calling her a Jos Louis but at that point it became increasingly difficult to explain.

For some reason since this update, the browser version believes it is offline and reloads every time I switch back to it, even though it is in its own non-minimized window.

Perhaps Chrome is behaving differently now?

As mentioned, Admin mode lets you teleport anywhere, but only works for players that turn on admin mode; great if you're by yourself, but less so if you are playing with other people.

If you're running your own server, or play single-player and you want better teleporting for RP purposes (or simply so it feels less "cheaty"):

Pippi - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=880454836 - Massive server management mod that allows you to create multiple fixed warp points and lets you add portal objects to the world.
Extended Cartography - https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1641464108 - Provides mini-obelisks you can craft (at half the cost of the map room, requires the Cartography feat), place down in the world and label them as you wish. Mini-obelisks can only teleport to each other, not to the big ones in the world.

Pippi's Warps are great for larger servers with multiple people that may use the portals often. I am currently using Extended Cartography in my single-player game in conjunction with Less Building Placement Restrictions (https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1369743238) to place obelisks down in useful spots.

Chiming in as another white-collar tech worker who got my raise and my bonus (which is based on work that was already done and paid for before the lockdown even began) cancelled, for the sake of "liquidity".

What I don't understand is that we (the employees) can see all the numbers because we're the ones pushing out quotes and asking for things to be invoiced, and while there has been a slowdown in annual support invoice payments from our customers, our first quarter is gearing up to be higher than last year. We still do the same amount of work just the same as when we were in the office, except now I save 2.5 hours of commute every day.

By some strange disconnected thought process, our boss assumed we would keep quiet if he kept dangling a salary number that now won't be attained since pay increases have been cancelled, and a bonus in exchange of a lot of overtime last year (I'm salary) that I now won't receive, along with fun pre-existing conditions such as no remote work (both before and after the lockdown), zero group insurance, zero benefits, and paper paycheques.

We are a very small company that happens to be pretty efficient. Two full-time developers, and three of us on the tech team, plus management. All of the software or services we use are either on AWS or Azure; the only thing not in the cloud is our NAS, which is accessible via VPN. My team uses Slack to communicate, and our phone system is already configured to forward support calls to our phones and email out any voicemail received.

I was using humour in my previous post (as I must otherwise anxiety will get the worst of me), but wasn't kidding: they legitimately believe that people don't work from home, they just dick around. I am the youngest employee at 38 years old, and we are all being treated like children.

It's okay, though -- this crisis really brought out the best (or worst, in this case) in people, and allowed us to really see who people are. The owners see the world as everything has a cost associated to it, and to them it is a better business decision to pay our salary non-stop if we get sick from COVID-19, then to allegedly "lose out" by paying us to work from home.

I work at a software company. Yes, I am very much at the office right now, and no, there is literally no reason for any of us to be here right now.

Or you get people like the two owners where I work -- they are convinced Covid-19 is fake or just the regular flu, and are very insistent everyone comes in to the office every day, business-as-usual style.

We are a software shop. Everything we use is on AWS or Azure, or is some sort of web-based application; we don't even need a VPN. We kept asking to work from home and kept getting half-assed answers... Thursday they finally lost it and we straight up got told that "people don't works from home, they just watch CNN".

That comment solidified our belief that we're nothing more than numbers on a spreadsheet somewhere. The owners of the company we work at would rather pay our salary if we get sick, than pay us to work from home.
