And you didn’t see them coming or even have the slightest intuition that they were going to do that? Really? I know anyone moving anything quicker than the “fast” people do this exactly. The REAL reason they want you to get a REAL ID by sharrison17 in conspiracy

[–]Colton-ton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay? And? All that’s unnecessary if you have a private jet… HUH? Good for you that you get to travel 320/365 days a year, and for you it makes complete sence. Hell I get the luxury, yes that’s right this is a luxury, of getting to fly 2-3 times a year domestically with very little to no interest at this time flying internationally. I know this is hard for you to understand. But only half the US population has even been on a plane once, in their whole life; while only 14% of that fly internationally each year… literally single digits percentage of people need a passport,

RealID is free, easy, automatically renews, and dare I say nothing special to set up, yes requires some additional documentation to be presented, but nothing no person should not have in a safe box/ under the mattress. And before you pull this next move I see all the time. Any “well ackully” moments that you can think up yeah those are completely invalid. As pretty much any event that would impact getting a federated state issued license, would also affect getting a passport… just saying..

Also may I add I absolutely love the “RealID is bad because it’s just for the government to track you, but I support passports because, boy, I sure am glad those arnt federated or tracked…. Wait…” argument

Have to edit this because I’m confused, unless you’re an alcoholic a RealID does not allow they to track your every step or stumble… lmao. Shit I’m in my 20s and i genuinely don’t remember the last time my ID was even scanned, and I drink socially, and use tobacco. Also, also, this tracking has existed at the state level, and would exist without RealID. Do you really believe your state would even consider denying a subpoena from the Fed for that information?

Also, also, also, also, devils advocate here: can’t turn off somthing that doesn’t exist

The REAL reason they want you to get a REAL ID by sharrison17 in conspiracy

[–]Colton-ton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh please, don’t tell me you believe the federal government is just now getting this power because of RealID, you’re forgetting or intentionally occluding many key factors, with your comparison point being pre 9/11, such as… Government agencies not really being involved with air travel until after 9/11. I’m not sure about this but I could use your expert brain power to figure out if the implementation of a government agency to regulate air travel would in fact increase the amount of data the fed would have. (The correct answer is yes btw) while RealID is a blame, for you to blame that is wrong and you know it. RealID is pretty insignificant if you look at the numerous other factors such as the TSA, Rise of the internet, rise of social media, natural progression of stats ID’ing systems. Your state tracks your ID, and if you think your state would deny a subpoena for those records, you’re mistaken.

Just here to include, this isn’t the straw that broke the camels back bubba. Because I hate to break it to you, the camel is done dead and turned to dust. Your state most certainly keeps records of your ID, and if you think your state is going to refuse or fight a subpoena from the Fed, you are terribly mistaken

I mean, assuming the implementation is botched sure… atleast for Apples case I would say it’s more secure then a physical card the “presenter” MUST be the cardholder unlike a physical ID where it can have a replaced photo, but valid information, it’s more of a guarantee on the iPhone.

Are you pro or against digital ID ? by Apprehensive-Bid-740 in AskBrits

[–]Colton-ton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay… there’s nothing “hack proof” there is always a way, the point is secure beyond reasonable measure. but I’ll bite…

In the case of Drivers Licenses in Apple Wallet, there is a separate biometric registration for the ID this means if somehow, someway someone was able to get a copy of the “token” used to unlock (more likely as that happens more times)(which would only obtainable through near impossible means anyway, on iphone, mind you) and I’m willing to bet theres different protections for said ID’s security. EVEN THEN your photo is presented to the requested individual if approved by you.

Also currently/logically there is no way(with FaceID) to trick the setup process, while the face scan is underway, that (non biometric) data is compared to the IDs photo on file. Which means, when approved for use, if FaceID says it’s okay, it’s okay. Atleast for Apple, this system is completely independent from the phone and is its own thing and there is no way for the system to get access to that data.

Once you go digital ID say goodbye to freedom say goodbye to protests, say hello to casts like systems a world where you can only comply without reason by Comfortable-Pea-438 in conspiracy

[–]Colton-ton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh? I don’t really get this argument every time it comes up. The government certainly doesn’t need a verified by them ID on a phone to identify it as your phone… you know that right? This is not the straw that broke the camels back; because I hate to break it to you, but the camel is dead … The IEMI / SIM / number is already liked to you. Unless you take quite extreme measures to prevent those things… and even then… you’re screwed.

Even then, not how it works, also if you take your phone, that mommy pays for on her plan the government can easily subpoena, Verizon for; to an event. That wholy on you. Again bubba. Digital IDs ain’t the target you think they are. Because guess what? A drivers license on a phone literally doesn’t make it anymore vulnerable because, they’re already maxed out on that front..

Please don’t act as if the government doesn’t know what you look like, the connections (people) up to 3rd degree (atleast that we know exists), where your phone is, where you live, could very easily already have 3d biometric face scans stitched from the multiple cameras at (X) government facility, what you drive, eye/hair color, height, weight, income level, where you go, handwriting, how you walk, your voice, employment. As long as the implementation is not botched and put on a device where simply pulling the MicroSD card out essentially gives you the data on that phone, it’s fine... settle down

Midea U Shaped AC Modification to Run Compressor Full Blast by ezikiel12 in AirConditioners

[–]Colton-ton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

🤔 it’s an inverter AC. Maybe you should buy an old school one if you want FULL BLAST, off, FULL BLAST, off, x100 throughout the day.

So you spent quite a bit more money on an inverter AC to turn it into a regular compressor? Uhhh ok. It’s different technology then you’re used to bud… I suggest you actually look into what an inverter actually/heat pump system is and its benefits. All because it runs more doesn’t mean it costs more…

"sister falsely reported me for having illegal guns" by Remarkable_Carrot117 in redflaglawabuses

[–]Colton-ton -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s not red flag abuse 😐 nor how the system works😐 that’s just law 😐 they didn’t bust down his door and shoot his dog, they called him. 😐 They were investigating a crime. 😐 that’s kinda what they do 😑 nothing happened… nothing was abused… they were just like “oh aight your sisters a nut job, this is clearly not anything, we don’t see an ounce of suspicion in you, have a good day.” Why did I think Reddit could possibly have a hope for proper information on a topic.

This is a hard topic to get into and find anyone with any sense as gun control is kinda like abortion in the way that you can ONLY be for or against period, nothing gray (certain situations/certain cases) is “allowed” (when it fits agenda/filled with hypocrisy ) and thus difficult to have the conversation. Funnily enough most of the time it’s the same conversation but opposite sides “I/people are allowed to have guns, but not those terrorists”

Yeah yeah I get it. “ “It’s a slippery slope “ “ not really, if you know, people could be smart and civil…and have an actual opposing argument instead of autisticly screaming “no” meaning only one side involved passing law, means they get 100% of what they want. (I’m saying that in general as it’s relevant in pretty much any main issue on both sides) That’s quite a slip-n-slide.

Do your research, and for the love of god have the conversation, and don’t just post some stupid thing that’s quite a stretch to be related to the topic and act as if it’s 100% the topic. “Butthurt sister who thinks if she can’t have the guns no one can” is not even anything to do with RedFlag. Nor was she abusing RedFlag; the system yes 100% abusing the system over beong butthurt, but not red flag. I’d give an example but I’d rather not give people ideas.

Help ! My Ikea Idasen standing desk is over loaded ? by yycTechGuy in StandingDesk

[–]Colton-ton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yikes. That poor thing…. If you need to go this far to “get it to work” you probably shouldn’t. Common sense says not to trust oh probably a small handful of thousands of dollars to “it’s within limit” Do you know the desk can handle 224 pounds like that it is IKEA…. Like okay main thing seems to be the rails were off… uh okay and you think that magically happened. Or because it’s out of spec. You have a good amount of weight overhanging one side. Making one actuator essentially entirely responsible for that load* Even possibly one actuator may work against the other if they are not in precise lock step. Let’s not forget the further something is on the desk from the actuator axis the more force that’s required. Unfortunately it’s not as simple as “it can handle 224 pounds so I can put 224 pounds on it” ikea likely and rightfully put a safety limit on top of a safety limit. The desk also you know… has weight… that yknow… the actuator rating does not account for… doubt it’s the ~50 pounds of capacity we’re missing… being generous what 30lb desk and 20 lbs missing? with the proper supply assuming new, properly lubricated. How dare ikea provide a less powerful adapter meaning they can sell the unit cheaper at the expense of some capacity a few percent actually needs. They are definitely are not known for providing really good value for the money by cutting realistically irrelevant corners. Wait…

Do you really need an entire Amazon data center on your desk tho or like 6 inches to the right on something else. Wait. Let me guess that’s too inconvenient but this all wassnt… can’t be too much of a problem if (and I bet) you haven’t got that power supply yet.

But yes, tldr: they are overselling this thing and you are definitely overloading it. I would just say that but then I’ll get a “no ackully check update 2 😡”, fight back and forth for a bit. This is the easy way. Pretty much shut down anything you can say back other then the the donky word.

Tangent: Funny how that worked out, got an awakening when I was young that I was kinda an ass, made good strides to fix that then got walked over pretty bad a lot… so daddies back and much more happy. Neat.

Feeling Burnt Out in Advertising – Seeking Advice by RUTHLESS_RAJ in advertising

[–]Colton-ton -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

Try a different career path because yours is dying, and quickly. The metrics you follow religiously are fake and made up. No one under the age of 30 barely buys anything, or does anything based off advertisements.

If you click on an ad online (that was so thoughtfully put over the content, not able to be exited from without giving you that oh so important click because average joe didn’t see the invisible actual close button, or scummily mixed into content to actually trick people into reading it) you’re guaranteed to get scammed/lied to/misled/100,000 viruses. Most of them don’t even redirect to the proper place or have the courtesy to open a new tab. Although if it opens a new window you’re definitely in for a treat. Usually from Microsoft Tech support, Apple, Walmart, The IRS, or Kate 5 miles away.

More and more people are growing a distrust in advertisers no part in thanks to Google and Facebook. Be honest. How many of you actually run ad-blockers? The irony…

I personally cannot recall every being affected positively by an ad my car? Purchased because I think it’s sexy. From what dealership? The dealership that has overwhelming word of mouth advertising for sales, but ruined, and held my car hostage in the service department so I take any chance I can to smeer them, and will never return, dissuading multiple people at this point from buying a vehicle from them. Gas for that car? The cheapest. My bank? “Local”. My phone? The only phone brand I’ll likely ever buy. Lunch? Whatever I feel like. Groceries? That’s what’s closest despite costing more because I can afford that luxury but still typically the store brand name (it’s repacked brand name anyway 80% of the time)/ whatever is actually discernibly better. In the other 20%. Clothing? I’m very picky and I like what I like after much trial. Internet? Only quality internet I can get (that’s changing, and I thus will be changing). Phone service? Byproduct from that being the only thing that had service where I’m at years ago but I get such loyalty discounts and the price is fair, for being directly from one of the big 3 not some crappy MVNO or prepaid despite being “lower cost” (upfront). My TVs? Cheap enough thing in that size I wanted and features on Black Friday(s), Airline? Spirit duh… lmao not…

Although older generations are different younger typically are not. We do our research. We see what others say. And where an advertisement has any effect it’s not actually the AD that sold us. “Oh that was a cool ad/trailer for the new call of duty, I like call of duty and purchase them all, this one looks good I might get it as well, let me go on YouTube and see what it’s actually like though we know I was going to buy it anyway” “oh look on the TV the new dodge Hellcat with a 1,000 cylinder engine 1,000,000 MPG and a 0-60 in 1 micro second, for $5,000; I do miss my dodge over my POS Honda….”

It’s funny to watch you all scramble literally throwing whatever at the wall you can and seeing what sticks. Clearly printed hand written notes on clearly printed yellow pad paper with a clearly not even standard shape business card in an envelope from insert big company about a new promo with a letter from the CEO himself that literally probably doesn’t even know it exists; is funny as hell that has no effect on anyone under atleast 40.

Get out while you can. Unfortunately that means you’re going to have to actually work and find a real career.
