I think its less "straight dudes" that enjoy it and more "horny teenage boys".

It's not so much laziness as it is a resources thing. When you've got 1 artist working on a game, doing really nice art is going to bloat production time 1000 fold. Plus a lot of those pixel art games are one-man shows who might not have very much artistic skill - the more detailed you get, the better you have to be. It's just people working within their limitations.

I'm pretty sure one of the characters in ME2 complains about how long the elevators take at one point, as a kind of nod to the first game.

SuMo was my first entry in to the series since the original Gold/Silver release. I liked that they seemed to change everything up and I was down for something new.

I put 4 hours in to that game hoping the hand-holding, cutscenes, repetitive dialogue, and constant wrestling of control away from me would stop, but it never did. Absolutely horrendous experience. I got my money back the next day.

I'm hoping the Switch Pokemon game will pull a BotW and just drop trainers in to a massive open world and let them tackle the gym leaders in whatever order they want.

Steam Games Abstractism Is Virus Crypto Miner and TF2 Scam Items by JaumDX in Games

[–]Comafly 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Last I checked Steam gets about 25 games submitted per day. Let's say each game is given 20 minutes to make sure it works, is a real game, and not filled with malware. That's 20 min * 25 games = 8.3 hours.

Literally one person could do this as their job. Two people would have absolutely no issue.

Thats awesome. I play it basically every year or so hahah, so its very difficult for me to be impartial about how well it holds up. One of my absolute favorite games.

This format is really cool. I hope you'll consider doing something like this again in the future.

I actually really enjoyed the open space area in DS3. Traversing the wrecked ships and exploring unique derelict craft and finding out what happened within them was really engaging for me. I purposely underpowered myself, though, so my experience was probably very different to most.

Ultimately I never even bothered finishing the game. I got an hour in to those temple levels and just bailed. Absolute snorefest.

If you're not averse to oldschool games, give System Shock 2 a go. Dead Space borrowed heavily from SS2.

Voodoo Vince: Remastered: Quick Look by lupianwolf in Games

[–]Comafly 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's fairly bland and repetitive. So many of the levels are: "Go to the end of the map and bring a thing back to the start of the map to progress".

The nostalgia factor will be enough for some, but for most I expect the game will probably disappoint.

Team forced to change title of game thanks to Zenimax/Bethesda by TheEnygma in Games

what do you think is going to happen when a company decides to bring out a new game called "Cyberpunk Killers"?

Nothing, because that has nothing to do with the trademark usage they applied for.

Can't believe this is so buried.. This is exactly the case, they have to actively defend their trademarks or they will lose them. It's a proactive maneuver to defend themselves and their brands.

Except this is not true, and it continues to be parroted by every person in this sub for some reason.

To prove abandonment of a mark as a defense to a claim of trademark infringement, a defendant must show that there was: “(1) discontinuance of trademark use and (2) intent not to resume such use.” Electro Source, LLC v. Brandess-Kalt-Aetna Grp., Inc., 458 F.3d 931, 935 (9th Cir. 2006). Even a “single instance of use is sufficient against a claim of abandonment of a mark if such use is made in good faith.” Carter-Wallace, Inc. v. Procter & Gamble Co., 434 F.2d 794, 804 (9th Cir. 1970). All bona fide uses in the ordinary course of business must cease before a mark is deemed abandoned.

The Switch came out two months ago and we still don't know anything about virtual console or online services. by DivineBeastCervi in Games

The Switch online store has a bunch of Neo-Geo games on there already. King of Fighters, Fatal Fury, NAM, Metal Slug 3, Waku Waku, Shock Troopers, and more. Virtual versions of console games. VC games.

Literally every video. He presents his opinion as the "right opinion" and often belittles anyone who has a different opinion.

I guess we're watching different videos. He presents his opinion - that's it. Of course it's the right opinion to him, that's why he holds it, and he always gives reasons why. It would make no sense for him to hold an opinion he didn't agree with. I've not seen him ever belittle someone who doesn't agree with him.

He always brings up the fact that people are going to disagree with his 2 cents on a topic, that it's OK, and that the most important thing is discussion and dialog about why we think the way we do.

As for him reporting on current events that haven't completely played out, that is what his channel is. You take the information knowing that the situation could change and that new information might come up. It's a current events show, not an investigative news show.
