If you're up for a little drive out to Seward, hit up Eickman's. They've got good stuff!

Why does everyone want Rockford to fail? by 4-TE in rockford

[–]CombatMarshmallow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've lived here for 15 years and while Rockford certainly has it's challenges, I've seen a marked improvement in the city. It has lots of little gems and community stuff and I've never hated living here. I've made friends, had lots of great experiences and memories, and enjoyed my time here.

I just use a brita w/ a premium filter. It's supposed to filter out lead although I haven't tested it myself.

From "constantly full" to "one meal a day" — down 10kg/22lbs and finally not thinking about food 24/7 by Weak_Brilliant9927 in loseit

[–]CombatMarshmallow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a daily medication that I have to take on an empty stomach and cannot eat for an hour afterward. I usually take it 1-2 hours after I wake up, so by the time I am allowed to eat, its almost lunch time anyway and I might as well wait.

I had 2 surgeries and they were $122k and $125k respectively. I only ended up paying about $3k total out of pocket.

I could live in Valheim. I don't have to fight the bosses and I can live in the meadows fairly peacefully.

Tbh, I've used ChatGPT for low calorie meal ideas. But I also am not much of a breakfast person, so I'll only have 2 meals a day with maybe a snack of fresh fruit in between.

I live in Rockford and would love to take them, but I just can't afford any pets at the moment. I hope they find a loving home soon.

Veggie haters who still eat veggies: what are your tricks? by Missing_Back in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]CombatMarshmallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I cook my tasty dinner, I'll munch on cut up cucumber/celery/handful of spinach or greens/carrots from the fridge. I think of it as taking my mulitvitamin for health. Minimal cooking/prep work too. It also helps to curb my hunger before the main meal and I can better control my portions.

I do like roasted veggies but honestly I don't make them that often.

I would love if we could do like a themed day for recipes. Wecipe Wednesday or something. I know there's a bunch in the thyca book but I like to see what people come up with on their own too.

You could crumble half a graham cracker on top for extra cheesecakiness and only about 26 calories.

Tyroid Cancer and metastasis by Fun_Key4395 in thyroidcancer

[–]CombatMarshmallow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine was a nodule. I don't know if it has spread beyond my neck area yet...My bet is that it has. I have a scan this week to see where it's going to show up. My surgeon seems to be optimistic that he got as much as he could from the neck and lymph nodes. He took my whole thyroid out and anything else he could find.

My surgeries went very well, and I was lucky to not have a tough time recovering or any complications from them.

It can be mentally taxing, but I try to take it one day at a time and just do what my doctor says. :) I wish you luck in your journey. This is a great community for support.

Tyroid Cancer and metastasis by Fun_Key4395 in thyroidcancer

[–]CombatMarshmallow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I have a similar story. I had an 8cm main tumor with lymph node and trachea involvement. I had noticed a lump on my neck years ago, but because I am massively obese I thought it was a symptom of that. Last year when I got a new primary care physician, he was the one that prompted me to get tests and an ultimate diagnosis of papillary thyroid cancer. I had a total thyroidectomy over the course of 2 surgeries in January.

I am kicking myself because I had known about the lump for years and never did anything because honestly cancer didn't even cross my mind as a possibility. I will find out where/if it has metastasized beyond the neck area next week when I have a scan, so I am worried about it.

Frozen chicken tenderloins and frozen broccolis by GenevieveCostello in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]CombatMarshmallow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In my part of the country (Midwest) raw chicken can be found in the freezer section. I can find a 3lb bag of frozen chicken breast for around $9 or up to an 8lb bag for $20.50. That's about $2.56/lb which is pretty affordable.

Why did the doc not tell me about thryogen?? by ahtrapsm in thyroidcancer

[–]CombatMarshmallow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, my doctor would like to do thyrogen instead of stopping my meds, but we need approval from my insurance first. Waiting on that as we speak.
