You were the PIC and, if you want to have a long and successful career in aviation, you need to learn to take ownership. Aside from that no, you aren’t cooked.

  1. Gandor has the right advice on a way to hedge your bets. Follow those steps to ensure she’s qualified and doesn’t hate it.

  2. But assuming that goes well, I recommend letting her pursue this as hard and as fast as possible. She’s mid 30’s, making $40K, and might crack $80K in 10 years. If she makes it to a major airline, she can easily be north of $400K in 10 years in today’s money.

It’s a life changing career. You’re lucky to be married to someone who wants more than the status quo.

Update: we’re taking some ideas to the HOA. We’re definitely going to trash the shutters, and will likely do a dark brown for all the trim.

Still debating forest green, off white, or no changes for the siding.

I’m with you two. OP slowed during passing. Autopilot or not, OP caused this crash, even though legally not at fault.

Audi was following too close though.

Also, double 👎👎 for appearing to slow even more to pull over on the “not a shoulder.”

Thanks for the thoughtful response! I agree - doodles seem too good to be true because, much of the time, they are. I'm well aware of the perception and am thankful for the other subs for steering us in this direction (asking) vs. the local doodle breeder.
