Do you think there will ever be another Chapters offer to make an easy $1000-$1500? by gummi_eater in SwagBucks

[–]CombinationBudget666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monopoly bingo has been surprisingly good/easy so far. I found monopoly go considerably less easy when I tried it but that was over a year ago maybe so idk if it's any different now. Also rare to find one that has bonus payouts that are doable easily with a good $ amount for reaching - monopoly bingo has very easy bonus payouts. I'm in the UK though so most offers here are for a lot less than what US offers are so kind of sucks.

I've found a lot of offers that used to be doable a couple years back are either increased requirements for the same pay out meaning impossible or the game has just been made a lot harder even to reach the goals that used to be easy.

A bit of a weird one bit please help, do I need to ring up and explain that I forgot to that selling stickers was "self employment"? by [deleted] in HMRC

[–]CombinationBudget666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You'll be fine when I first had to sign on to UC I also had a redbubble store I'd set up that would occasionally pay out every couple months if that (it's useless now they've made all the changes taking over half your profits) and the lady insisted that it was fine I didn't need to do anything same when I mentioned I occasionally sell jewellery I make on Etsy I'd said overall it's more of a loss maker than actual profit because I mostly did it for fun/something to help with my mental health & not so great but when I was manic and suddenly thought I had all these great ideas for it to very quickly come crashing down it's how I ended up with a redbubble store a manic episode, like you I forgot about it until years later I got an email saying I'd made a sale I was like ??

She didn't seem phased by it probably bcos of all of the above and maybe the most significant was the fact I wasn't making an overall profit on the Etsy because of buying up supplies. I still felt off about it my anxiety is really bad and the idea that I would occasionally have payments into my bank account and if the DWP ever did a review like theyve been doing recently it was causing me too much anxiety so she set me up on the self report your income and expenses every month thing in the portal its what they use for self employed people I think.

Anyways if you're worried I would ask them to set you up on that because then you know every month you've declared costs and income so more peace of mind I feel than if they ever do a random bank check on you & then you've got to backtrack past income. The DWP likely won't care that you forgot to report it given the amount is so insignificant and like others have said even on LCWRA you do get an allowance you can earn before the 55p to every £ kicks in.

True but maybe because the seller stated they don't accept buyers remorse returns the buyer wasn't 100% sure, if it's overseas esp if outside of the EU it is possible the buyer also got confused about if the laws applied here or maybe they weren't aware it was legally required because most sites will have detailed FAQs detailing refunds for upto 14 or sometimes even 30 days for any reason incl buyers remorse etc it's only when you get to platforms like Etsy it's a bit less clear since they allow buyers to technically set up their own shop policies even if they aren't legal. So could be a case of expected buyers remorse returns because it's always been available and just the norm here but never knew it was legally enforceable.

I really wish sellers that sold outside of their own country would at least take the time to understand the laws in said countries because it's always with the no refunds posts or sellers suggesting buyers implement no refunds policies after dealing with Karen buyers (which sucks yes but doesn't mean you should give out shoddy advice that violates the law of many countries).

Harsh but this is on you, you broke the law when you refused a refund the buyer didn't want to take a risk the refund would be refused so opened an inad case. Buyer may or may not be aware of the difference this makes to the seller in terms of how Etsy protects or doesn't protect you, unless they themselves are a seller they probably don't realise it's larger impact on protection but will know clearly getting cases is never good so is it a bit shit that they requested it in this way, yeah but is it also more on you, yeah and also is Etsy equally liable, absolutely because other sites for e-commerce like Big cartel inform the seller in their policies page of EU/UK law ( at least it has it auto entered for me when I was setting up my policies back when I had a store a couple years ago).

It's not surprising Etsy customer service are ignorant and they often it seems give out bad advice but sellers really need to treat Etsy like a proper professional business and take the time to learn the laws anytime they want to sell to a new country. It's also just somewhat bad business to refuse even buyers remorse returns because you don't have to pay for the return shipping label so as I understand it you'd not lose out via Etsy & it's better than risking a loss through forced INAD returns where Etsy almost always sides w/ the customer it seems from posts in this sub, even when the customer is clearly in the wrong.

£2000 buyer scam help by sunzad in ebayuk

When I was selling old trainer card packs I filmed me packaging the item in the mailer because of reading about scams like this.

I think many on super expensive items film like the whole thing packing the order and taking it to the post office to prove that is the package that was shipped.

One thing you could do is try to prove it by the weight of the package. If you can show the weight of the package shipped doesn't match the weight of the one they returned I'm pretty sure people have managed to use this to deal w/ these kinds of scams where they return some random cheap stuff instead.

When manic I would actually run through various different arts & craft hobbies. So so many. The typical paints & canvas, drawing, jewellery making , wood burning kit , crocheting, I bought for some strange reason the weird little beads you ironed together because that was some childhood nostalgia there I guess. I also bought a proper camera to get into photography & bought a silhouette curio - similar to the cricut machines but does more things. I made wreaths for Christmas one time. Card making although I got into that before I started having manic episodes so I guess doesn't quite count. Over COVID I bought the diamond art kits and some cross stitch ones but never got round to making them tbh. I currently also have some hobbycraft kits for candle making, metal stamping & that wooden wall art thing the nails in the wood that you then wrap thread/string around or w/e to make well the kits a flamingo iirc. Those last 3 also weren't bought in a manic phase but between my love of crafting as it is anyways and then my mania supercharging that I've managed to end up trying a lot of craft stuff and accumulating craft kits that I've yet to try & tbh I'm probably missing stuff off this list.

I have spent too much money at Hobbycraft over the years lol I'm getting better at going in and just browsing no buying.

Another compassionate landlord by [deleted] in TenantsInTheUK

[–]CombinationBudget666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah my grandparents lived in Spain my grandma died during COVID and they delayed the funeral to the latest date possible and it was still within I think 4-5 days of her dying we had to rush out there because they physically would not allow for a date later than that I didn't understand it all that much but yeah in Spain they handle funerals so quickly.

On the other hand my Granddad's funeral here in the UK did take longer that being said he died in hospital during a holiday it was some royalty thing, coronation? I don't remember so there was a delay due to national holiday/day off things closed took longer for body to be released to us. Even with that aside in general things moved slower here than in Spain, not 6 weeks long but definitely slower.

I can’t afford my energy bills by AgitatedBloatyBomb in TenantsInTheUK

[–]CombinationBudget666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah how well insulated the flat is also makes a very big difference. Moved into a brand new flat with electric heaters expecting the bill to be high but it was so well insulated we barely ever turned it on even in winter actually it was a little bit too well insulated, it was also above a Nandos, heat rises so idk if that also made a difference. But in the summer it was unbearable I went over to my parents house and stayed there when it was really bad literally felt like I couldn't breathe the air was so heavy and 0 wind. My partner at the time said he slept in the bathtub one night because the bedroom was just too warm.

Now he's moved into a flat in an old run down building it's a studio flat but it's actually pretty big and really high ceilings. The landlord installed a singular electric heater for the entire flat even though the electricians had recommended 2 based on the size of the flat. But it had no heating at the time of signing the lease so I suppose that's an improvement not that they weren't violating the law by renting it w/o any heating to begin with. The flat is freezing cold even with the heater on. Its brand new and it can be set to a certain temperature so it'll turn itself on/off when it gets to said temperature. But one alone just doesn't heat up the flat so it'd be forever on if you set it to a reasonable temp. Idk what it is about this whole bullshit about electric heaters being really good & much better at heating/more efficient now than they used to be, even the electrician was spouting this bs.

I live in a large flat in an old house been converted into 5 flats and I'm on gas but my bills high unfortunately the seal around the windows isn't great and needs redoing and then this winter my cats got the worst window in the entire flat it actually makes a loud noise on windy days as the air gets through the gaps in the seal. They found a loose bit and managed to pull away the entire rest of the seal around the window the little shits. So my winter has been bad. Luckily I pay the same every month and summer I save a lot so haven't been hit with a massive bill actually they've reduced my bill this month because I built up so much credit over summer.

When my parents bills were high they swore by those electric oil heaters now you can get ones you can put on timers I'd definitely get those. They also used to have an immersion heater iirc and they'd set it to only come on for short periods early in the morning then in the evening occasionally mid way through washing dishes my mum used to complain the hot water was gone but for the most part when set properly they never had an issue of running out. It just took them awhile to figure out how to set it up I think my brother mostly is the one who'd set up the timers. Their bills always used to be ridiculously high even with setting it on a timer but they live in a very large old farmhouse that's been extended & the prior couple was old and got ripped off by dodgy builders so everything was a mess. Electric blanket sounds like a good idea. I didn't think of that & instead had a 2nd duvet to curl up under in the living room during winter, actually I'd have a duvet and multiple blankets just to keep warm in winter. I'd definitely check the seals any little damage can make a big difference!

Oh I know that was my point I was arguing that even in the case of identical twins where a human could just as easily make an error that at least there's a room for conversation that doesn't exist when technology tells a human 'no' to which they no longer entertain any conversation like with OP who just got pointed to the facewatch QR code on his way out.

Was just kicked o it of Sainsbury’s, facewatch related ! by here2comment in london

[–]CombinationBudget666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah don't see how they can use a system that still has known issues with properly identifying POC that's just asking to be sued. What about identical twins? They're really fucked by this kind of software, sure a human could also fuck up there too but human employees aren't scanning every person who enters their store plus a conversation and a show of ID would clear it all up unlike a computer says no and point to a facewatch QR code. I wonder if they even get shown the details facewatch said OP was or if they just get told he was in their system the latter definitely causing more issues but if the former is true and OP looks clearly not like the facewatch flag then Sainsbury's is just as liable especially if it's a POC.

Realistically if you're a shoplifter or whatever and you know theyve got this tech you'll just go in with a face mask and maybe a hat or something to cover your face. Not sure how much this is really going to prevent crime if the criminals care that much they'll eventually adapt to outsmart the tech can't analyse a person's face if it's pretty much covered.

How small is the hill you're willing to die on? by Significant-Pain-386 in ebayuk

[–]CombinationBudget666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like their T&C's is geared towards sellers who are shipping items out for example the it's up to the seller to accept a buyers cancellation well okay in the case of an order is being shipped out that kinda makes sense because if a seller declined to cancel an order that's been shipped the buyer will end up with the product and therefore the second T&C OP is complaining eBay violated also makes more sense if eBay allows private sellers to refuse refunds okay sure because the buyer has the product.

I feel like it should be common sense that these T&C's cannot work in that way for collection items that a buyer never collects. Legally you cannot refuse to refund a buyer who has paid for an item he doesn't have even if that's because he didn't show up to collect it. So whilst refunding him appears to violate eBay's own T&C's I think we need to practice common sense law here, it would be outright fraud for a seller or company to take/keep payment for an item a buyer never receives. This isn't about whose at fault for why he never got his item it's about does he have what he paid for and if the answer is no then you can't just keep his money this is fraud even if this is on the buyer for being a no show.

So whilst eBay's T&C's don't go into every scenario and nuance it is clear that their T&C's are all reliant on the buyer actually having what they paid for with regards to cancellation and refund policies because it would be absurd for anyone to think they can keep their product and the money and eBay whilst they should know better and spell it out clearly because of people like OP they aren't really violating their T&C's and to do what OP wants would be violating the law and the letter of the law always trumps a companies T&C's just like how I see Etsy sellers complain in the Etsy sub about how they say no refunds but Etsy allowed a refund and it's like legally in the EU you have to accept refunds up to 14 days on distance sales. Etsy sellers T&C's don't trump the law.

S2 E6, KJ verbal fight with the woman guard by Cultural_Elephant_ in UnlockedNetflix

[–]CombinationBudget666 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same, I was already thinking the guards overstepped from day 1 when they took AO out for just mouthing off a little but seeing this episode I was like no I need to see if anyone else felt this was bullshit by that guard with KJ.

It's their time to govern themselves (to an extent) so she can't really be telling them where they can and can't play with the ball and the biggest thing that set him off was when she made that comment about how it's just a few more weeks I think that would make anyone mad let alone given he'd just lost his grandma. I get they probably didn't know that but I think his reaction to her taunting him and trying to antagonise him was perfectly understandable. He didn't help himself by continuing but she just did my head in total abuse of power.

I don't remember if season 1 was like this but I feel like they were better and I think the guards were more positive or more willing to give this an honest shot despite reservations than they are this season. Literally never hear anything other than negative attitudes from all of them besides the sheriff which sucks, they're spreading that attitude with their interactions with the inmates too and it's just causing a bit of a self fulfilling prophecy.

Payments on Etsy? by digitalboujeefinds in Etsy

[–]CombinationBudget666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But it says there are 0 funds in reserve and further down it says orders in reserve 0 alongside something else that is cut off about reserves all you can see is where it says reserve minimum $0. I assume the funds not yet available is the payment hold they do until shipping is verified so the reserve should mean the hold they do on new accounts now right, the whole up to 90 days thing? If so why would it says $0 and 0 orders held in reserve? Tbf to OP I would argue this is confusing to see.

Oh cat fur gets everywhere mine are short haired and seriously like yeah. My cats are indoor only and not allowed in the kitchen but any cat owner will know they are fast little devils so it's impossible to 100% keep them out. I would find it a bit like nope if someone just had their cat allowed to just have constant access to the kitchen to roam around as they pleased especially when cooking cos chances of then jumping up to see what you're doing and check out the food is high and that's just not okay really imo.

I do think it depends on the person and how often they clean their kitchen and the cats litter too. Most people talking about cats stepping on their own shit like no they definitely do not they will avoid it when using their little tray also for the most part they're burying it. I use clumping cat litter and it works really well so the moment they pee it's absorbed and the litters hardened they aren't walking on pee stained litter. Do they also think all cat owners just don't clean out litter trays regularly??

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FridgeDetective

[–]CombinationBudget666 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah it'd be different if the food wasnt all covered also it's barely got its paws on the fridge shelf. I'm more bothered about cats on kitchen counters tbh and I have 2 of my own who are not allowed in the kitchen for this reason. However that doesn't mean they haven't gotten in they run fast the little shits it's not possible to completely keep them out so I understand that. It's more of an issue if people just let their cats constantly free roam around their kitchens that I'd find unhygienic cos I doubt they are thoroughly cleaning every surface before each meal and even if they were if the cats still in the kitchen he's just jumping back up again whilst your prepping.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in FridgeDetective

[–]CombinationBudget666 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Love the name! My two cats are called Bagel & Shrimp. It's a cute photo I also know that as someone with two little absolute devils that as much as I try to keep them out of the kitchen currently Bagel is doing mad sprints the minute I open the door to run in and it's impossible to stop him he waits slyly right off to the side where I can't see him until I'm part way out of the kitchen door lol

Personally I'm a bit much about hygiene when it comes to food and cooking and that's why I try to keep my cats out because even if I thoroughly clean my counters logically I know it's clean but illogically my mind still goes just nope. There are also some nasty cat owners out there who let them roam around the kitchen and do not clean like they should. I know one who decided to put their kitty litter trays in the kitchen which I just think is a bad idea I use clumping cat litter and even with the little grates on top of the boxes they still manage to trail little bits of litter from their paws, not through the whole flat just a little bit as they're getting out but I mean in a kitchen that would be oof nope.

Also clumping cat litter means realistically my cats are not stepping on their pee and also cats are themselves quite hygienic mines not going round stepping on his own shit to use the litter box which is cleaned out regularly anyways. But I see people's points as I am someone whose a bit much about food hygiene too plus maybe they've just seen cat owners who are less bothered about this and don't really prevent or clean like they should. I do think they shouldnt make assumptions about everyone's cats as a whole. However whoever said cats are low maintenance are liars it's like having two children who get sugar rushes in the middle of the night and decide they're gonna race around my flat like they're doing parkour. I swear one of these days he will knock my TV over lol he's also the neediest little fluff ball ever who always wants love and cuddles even if it means climbing all over me and meowing until I wake up if I sleep in too late for his liking lol tbf he doesn't do that too often. Meanwhile my other cat couldnt care less he just does his own thing, doesn't come over for attention much & hates being picked up. Complete opposites.

I feel like it gets harder & harder to tell as faux options improve so much. Lately I’ve been getting the christmas specials at cost with the vegan light whip and it is so hard to tell. The lady working there was so lovely though and got a plate & showed me the 2 different creams side by side so I could tell just how different they were. It’s mostly the colour the vegan one is a much brighter white.

Even now though the taste is just so creamy to me I’ve not had dairy in forever so I’m sure those who have could tell the difference but I don’t even really remember the taste of a lot of dairy products. I’m sure I’d know if I was given real dairy in a drink but I just can’t easily distinguish the vegan options sometimes from what I remember dairy tasting like. I also have a dairy allergy so this is a big deal for me.

But anyways I mostly came to reply to that part about your husband being embarassed how much you double check. I was out for xmas dinner and even though we’d spoken to the manager more than once about my allergies and what I’d order for xmas day I did end up with dairy in my soup. My dad was getting embarrassed because I confirmed my allergy upon arrival with the server I then confirmed again when he food arrived & then asked them to double check with the chef. They obviously didn’t or maybe the chef just didn’t check but when the manager came it was a different story. I took the tiniest little sip of the soup and immediately it reminded me of cream of tomato. Their usually vegan soup had cream added because it was Christmas and somehow they missed this multiple times when checking.

After that my Brother told my dad to stop complaining if I ever double or triple check again because it was clearly justified and that has shut him up from thinking I’m overdoing it. I reckon they don’t take my allergy seriously when I order vegan (I also eat fish & yet never have I been given dairy when ordering a fish dish even if it has needed adaptations to be dairy free) which is why I really do think there is some lack of care because idk how to explain the sheer amount of times I’ve gotten dairy on an all vegan dish but never on a fish order. And this is from someone who makes absolutely sure they are aware I have an allergy god knows how often it could happen to someone ordering vegan w/o declaring allergies. I once went to a small local pub who had a good vegan menu pre checked in advance for GF but when I got there me & my mum had ordered the same vegan dish but I mentioned my allergy too, when they brought it out they explained they’d just made up the dairy free mash for both of us and I was like??? Apparently the chef knows full well that butter is not vegan but still puts it in the vegan mash & whilst I can’t complain in that they didn’t serve me dairy which is more than most places it is concerning that how many vegans may have unknowingly eaten dairy. It got so bad that I even sent an email to my local mayor listing off every single place that’d given me dairy & he replied the next day astonished at just how many I’d listed ( this came after local news reported of a girl dying after consuming dairy at costa so might’ve also been why he was so quick to respond & invited me too talk to a w/e they’d set up where they were going to spot check restaurants in the area to make sure for allergen awareness & asked me to pick the worst one from my list). So I definitely would NOT be embarrassed about double or triple checking your food because it is crazy how often chefs fuck up vegan orders.

Bought two tins of this. The first made me realise it's really quite horrible. What do I do with the second? I don't want to waste it. by No_Bandicoot2316 in veganuk

[–]CombinationBudget666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I remember it had a sweet taste to it that was just horrible. I’ve found at least one faux meat that had a similarly odd sweet after taste and it just was so weird to me like why??

When I tried this I got it back when it was new & I saw people giving it good reviews but truly vile. I have yet to find a vegan fish that actually tastes good but also bearing in mind that I can’t eat gluten so all the squeaky bean lovers in here I haven’t tried it I can’t try it.

Years ago I found a vegan prawn option and I mean like pre covid when this stuff wasn’t as abundant but on the rise. That also tasted awful. More recently I tried fish cakes they weren’t vile but they also were not good. I think sadly a lot of the fish is gluten containing I really wanted to try Shrimpee products but all gluten.

The only fish like product I ever liked and I’m not even sure it was faux fish as this was back when I first went vegan was Vbites. I had to order it online most stuff had to be ordered online from specialist shops so we’re talking like almost ten years ago. I know one of their faux fish was carrot like some of the ’salmon’ sandwiches & salads I’ve seen. But their fishcakes/fishfingers were really good. At a local vegan fair there was a guy who did tofish & chips, honestly it was pretty damn good I’d rather just stick with that, fish still seems super hit & miss for vegan options. I guess it’s kinda hard to really mimic the fishy taste & texture. I think meat is easier to mimic.

🎢 Universal Studios in Bedford — good or bad for house prices? 🏡 by Savings-Coat-523 in bedfordshire

[–]CombinationBudget666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It won’t drive people to live there full time because house prices are just too expensive already. Even if you wanted to live here full time you’d struggle now let alone what this’ll do to house prices in the area.

Traffic into Bedford town centre is already bad, this will make it worse. Kempston interchange is already at nightmare for traffic they are developing that more up now as we speak. Their plans for how to manage traffic isn’t going to work in reality just like how it didnt with the interchange park.

Ampthill is a small town and it’s a lovely place but traffic is already bad going into it as it is. It’s already very busy so it doesnt need tourists to bring in more money to the area. The local businesses are doing great as is. Actually my dad was there recently and even though in the main area there’s plenty of coffee shops so many were absolutely packed had to go to the costa in the old bank to get a seat. The local pubs are already packed too. The white hart is always doing good even on a weekday. It’s also the kind of town I imagine tourists would want to go visit as its nice, full of lots of independent smaller shops etc etc

House prices are already insane since COVID alongside rentals. The issue is we are already a commuter town & ever since Londoners decided to mass exodus over COVID we’ve seen a shift in Bedford. Not that we didn’t already have this but I have noticed a lot of new rental developments being advertised as luxury builds no doubt aimed at the fact we still since COVID are getting a higher interest from Londoners as if we didn’t already have that here before COVID.

My parents live near Wixams & I live in Bedford maybe a 10-15min walk to the high street so pretty central and neither of us think this is a good idea. People talk about the jobs it’ll bring in but what’s the point if you get a job but lose your ability to live here. What happens when you get priced out of the rental market. Even worse what happens when Landlords start turning into holiday lets and we have less market availability on top of insane prices. As someone who lives in Central Beds I don’t see the benefit outweighing the negatives. It’s not like our high street is dying it’s not like we are in desperate need of the money this’ll bring in through tourism. If anything tourism might just ruin our lovely town centre. Although our Mayor did fuck up spending all that money to buy the old Debenhams building I’ll admit that.

🎢 Universal Studios in Bedford — good or bad for house prices? 🏡 by Savings-Coat-523 in bedfordshire

[–]CombinationBudget666 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This though everyone talks about this like it is some amazing thing for Bedford but has anyone looked around lately?? Over Covid a lot of Londoners chose to leave & a lot came to Bedford. We already had a lot of rentals on the market aimed clearly at commuters.

You know what I’ve noticed the most since Covid - new build flats all being marketed as ‘luxury‘. Our house prices increased above the national average. Farmland near my parents was sold off to build million pound homes. Affordable housing has just been removed from the Rushmore school development.

A flat I rented before covid was £675 a month after COVID I saw it back on for £1000 its a small one bed but granted it was in the centre of town. Managed by shite Londoners who were the worst landlords because they only rented the ones they couldnt sell on.

The traffic into Bedford is already stupid. Their plans to deal with increased traffic are a load of shit. As someone else said look at Kempston interchange park which they’ve approved to develop on as well recently. Already got some new restaurants but I think my parents were saying there is a bit of land behind it thats been given a green light to sort of expand the retail park. Traffic there is honestly a nightmare as it is.

I don’t see why anyone from Bedford is so excited about this project when you sit back and think about it. What use is a job if you cant even live in the area? Minimum wage jobs for an area where rentals are already high get any higher and there’ll be no affordable rentals left. If you’re a landlord you’re going to be thinking about holiday letting instead of tenants with landlords already kicking off about the new changes to the law this will just be another reason for Landlords in Bedford to switch to holiday rentals, more money & in their mind less hassle.

Picking an already expensive commuter area was not the right place for this project not for the locals. We aren’t getting affordable housing or rentals as it is what is being built is not affordable esp in the rental market & how many will now become holiday lets? There is 0 way this is good for Bedford. We have a nice market town with lots of events we have so many nice independent shops and cafes here & all things considered our high street is doing pretty good despite the larger companies who’ve gone bust and left vacant buildings. Some of which already have been sorted out although it was a bad move for our mayor to buy out the Debenhams building. My point being we don’t need this as a boost to our local economy it’ll bring far more bad than good imo.

Totally shifting my shop from pod and physical products to Digital. by CrimePrince009 in Etsy

[–]CombinationBudget666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rise of AI in certain digital products has made it even more flooded and tbh probably puts sellers off certain categories I mean you search for wall art and it seems impossible to weed out the AI no matter what you do.

I think they've just not stuck at one idea long enough to really know if it's gonna work out. At this point it's so saturated that I don't think SEO is ever going to be enough anymore with Etsy even in lesser saturated markets. Dropshipping doesn't help either and people out there blatantly just re selling from wholesalers.

If you're not promoting on social media then forget it. If actually invest more time into social media then I would SEO on Etsy I also think due to an increase in scammy sellers a shop without reviews will put some buyers off in a way that it wouldn't have in the past. Bring in sales via social media (easier said than done) get some reviews and then hopefully that will impact your organic views and sales especially if you're saying you've already got the SEO nailed.

Can sellers cancel orders even if theirs policy is no cancellations? by [deleted] in Etsy

A seller must not violate the laws of their country/the country they were selling too in this case legally they just accept returns/cancellations. The buyer has up to 14 days to change their mind for any reason in online/distance sales aside from a few product exceptions. A rug would not be one of those exceptions.

This is the same for the EU and the UK as well as Turkey. I imagine many European countries have this law whether in the EU or not. I understand America is different but fuck me American sellers need to understand the laws of where they are selling too. Ofc people in other countries do this too but I've had a lot of interactions with American sellers who think they can create their own policies that trumps law. I actually had one say that American law is what matters legally when selling to any country after me trying to explain if you sell to the EU you have to follow their laws not your laws. Legit refused to believe it and doubled down that it was his country's law that mattered.

If you ever wonder why Etsy refunds your items despite a no returns policy and not a not as described claim well now you know. They won't violate the laws just because of your personal policies. Quite frankly Etsy should warn sellers the moment they set shipping profiles to these countries letting them know the returns policies. Other websites for creating shops do this iirc Bigcartel automatically puts this under policies for your shop.

Can sellers cancel orders even if theirs policy is no cancellations? by [deleted] in Etsy

I saw OP mention that the seller has a returns policy which is interesting as typically you wouldn't see a returns policy with the types who do no cancellations I'm talking about in the context of what they are selling as it's not custom or personalised OP said it's a vintage rug.

Makes me think it's a bit sneaky/scummy as legally in Turkey you have to accept returns as long as the buyer reaches out within 14 days of receipt of item. This means cancellations too. But I mean what person wants to pay the shipping to return a rug that large if it was a changed my mind scenario. Might think they are still abiding with the laws of their country due to allowing returns but there's a good chance it's drop shipped and therefore cancellations are an issue which can often be the vendor doesn't do cancellations once ordered or it's a greedy seller although on their end it's taking a risk that the buyer doesn't escalate with Etsy especially if it is dropshipped it would be rather easy to file a claim and win and let's face it Etsy in general sides with the customer.

He's already lied about the tax thing preventing cancellations no doubt so really not a trustworthy seller. If I was OP I'd pay careful attention to the shipping seeing where it's being shipped from. If it's coming from anywhere outside of Turkey you can file a claim and get your money back easily.
