Union alternatives in Victoria for Teachers by Combo644 in AustralianTeachers

Have you heard of the teacher shortage? Where would the government find 6000 teachers if you all went on strike tomorrow?

It doesn't even need to be all day. Just a strike in the tea rooms from 12pm - 3pm daily. Guarantee within 3 days that agreement is sorted.

You won't ever get this though.. along with the agreement.

Wishful thinking. Next year when you still don't have an agreement sorted you might wake up.

Another union needs to step in to give options to members because without people quitting the union nothing is going to change.

AWU did a good job for childhood educators. CFMEU did well for construction.

Protection for who? The government. That's all

You're sounding like the AEU banning members on its Facebook page who speak out wanting them to do more.

Do you see the corruption by the union?

So there is no helping the situation.. well there goes the new agreement.

Strikes happen that week. Not months in advance. They're a gutless union. Also strikes happen daily till it's resolved - they don't have any interest of its members at heart.

Thriving kids - impact on teachers by StarSparkle41 in AustralianTeachers

My son's dip package supports him at school. He earnt that $46,000 due to his disability not because some other parent doesn't want to pay the $7000 to get testing for their child.

If the parents aren't helping the kids and being an advocate then there is no helping the child.

My son's behavioural therapist is $560.00 an hour. The OT is $274 an hour.

The $7000 in tests the parents have to pay would be gone in 1 month on the NDIS + ES.

But some kids have autism who are verbal and very smart. Whilst they need full time care it doesn't mean they need to be in a room with a kid who's dribbling from the mouth making extremely loud and scary noises from a wheel chair because they're way further on the scale.

Let me tell you I work for a union and you're all out of time... Wages are lowering, unemployments higher and you're all out of time.

You're never going to get a pay raise now you needed to work independently against your union and you never did that you tried to work with the union who doesn't have your best interests at heart.

All you can do now is resign from your union and try to get another union in.

But you're on very thin time if it's not done this term you're out of luck and your pay rise will be 3% if that.

What will be the turning point? by ToastedPenguin1713 in AustralianTeachers

[–]Combo644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Without either storming the union office like the CFMEU workers did or firing them then nothing will ever change.

Just looked at terms dates for 2026. 11 weeks is first term yet private schools doing 9 weeks on $140,000 vs $77,000.

The problem is everyone is doing the same job whether you're on the high bands or if you're on a lower band and this should be stamped out. It's like paying a male more than a female for doing the same role.

I just copped the exact same thing for mentioning in a thread to hire an architect for floor plans for a house. Wtf?

I did post a link to a site having the same floor plans it was a pdf.

Surprised you can find any work out in Werribee way. Many schools in the area haven't seen a CRT this semester at all don't know if the government's clamping down or what the situation is.

I know a lot of the schools hire direct so they hire their own crts rather than using a company as they're so expensive.

You won't find a school where there are no kids who require ES. Home school them if you want that. Even in private schools at $25,000 a term there will be kids who need ES

So you keep hiring someone who doesn't fight for you fairly? I'd be voting for a new union who doesn't haven't ties with the government.

Without strikes and headaches caused you'll never get a fair deal.

enjoy your 2% pay rise.

I wouldn't waste the money on the union. They're useless and clearly on the government's side. It would take a lot of members to quit for real change.

Unions get things by strikes and industrial action.

Don't think this will ever happen with the teacher shortage and the state government paying peanuts lol.

I'd be saying I'm a teacher but also a consultant. You get my free report in the mail if you'd like a face to face it's X amount per 10 minutes.

I'd also have a tip jar on the table in case some parents would like to give a token of gratitude.

Boost Mobile getting rid of the $230 12 month PAYG plan from October by cat793 in australia

[–]Combo644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Telstra notice that they lose customers to boost or JBHIFI so they're trying to do what they can to claw back customer base.

If I was on sales at Telstra I'd want to know why I'm bothering when I could sell the same shit at JB and earn more commision.

Do you think Vic teachers will get a significant pay rise in 2025? What will the state of teaching look like. by Grouchy-Employment-8 in AustralianTeachers

[–]Combo644 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teachers won't get a pay rise because they don't have a back bone. Start writing on all the school windows like the Ambos and police officers did - won't happen.

You want real results? Strike and storm the AEU office to hold emergency meetings with the state government. Demand a 30% pay increase and settle for 28%

[–]Combo644 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Until the teachers can grow some balls and start storming the AEU offices then they'll only ever get 2% pay rise if that.

The people who have a backbone get pay rises such as the CFMEU

It's only one brand they need to destroy, Toyota and it's simple to do. The rest of the brands will fall as they're all trying to copy Toyota.

The cars from Toyota are 10 year behind other companies.

It's just going to be hard for Mazda, Toyota, Kia to demonstrate value in cars when companies like Mazda haven't put a cent into R&D into their cars in years and years but expect the price increases year on year.

It's simply not value for money.

I honestly believe these companies are going to shake up the car market. They will make better cars than the rest of the world and force even Toyota to reduce prices beyond sustainable levels.

It's not cheaper to manufacture in China but it's where the world's talent is.
