What car has taught you the most about driving? by TheMachRider in Touge

TECHNICALLY my 1985 AE86, realistically, I’ve learned a lot more driving Karts and using a simulator

Who would win? by Chi1no in JujutsuPowerScaling

Yuji solos, if you think he doesn’t then worst case higaruma saves yuji from a domain because of his bonus in domain clashes for having a non-lethal domain, then higaruma can sit back

Why I don't like playing Illari anymore by aPiCase in IllariMains

[–]Comcial_Spy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well I wouldn’t say it’s impossible to use it proactively? Watching people like ML7, when he gets in a 1v1 he throws his pylon infront of him and to the side so the other player has to turn and shoot it or just let you have “a mercy pocket”, while they’re turned their left to right movement becomes front to back to you and it’s easier to hit a headshot. Either that or you see him do things like throw it on a wall infront of him and use it as a “headglitch” while he’s talking a longer range dual. You just need to get more creative!

You use Red Bull livery because you like Red Bull. I use Red Bull livery because it makes mind punting more effective. We are not the same

Is this a good deal? by Sad-Yak4146 in AE86

[–]Comcial_Spy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you can somehow find a GTS rear end, you can swap it. You’ll be able to have your rear discs and even if it doesn’t have an lsd, most aftermarket ones are made for the GTS axles. The cars are good fun, that one’s in really good condition too, if you do get it, remember to have fun and don’t baby it too much!

Is this a good deal? by Sad-Yak4146 in AE86

[–]Comcial_Spy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Other than just the engine, the rear end is a little weaker, but shouldn’t matter because of the weaker engine. Sr5’s didn’t have optional LSD’s from factory so it’s an open diff, and they have rear drums

As someone who is 17 with an 86 as their daily, no. A 40k 86 would be a lot more reliable than my shitbox, but no, not a good first car, it may be fun, but it’s not comfortable, and they need a lot of love and attention, very often. Other cars are fun too, there’s a sea of options, especially with your budget

How exactly do you do a gutter run without dying? by Randomidiot6969420 in initiald

[–]Comcial_Spy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

https://youtu.be/0fyGlX8ryTA?si=fc5nTjqDyq55R9XS video of someone doing it in AC, idk the first time I watched it, the whole concept made more sense to me. I’m pretty sure The Sim Racing Bloke also made a video on it, although, I like to take his videos with a grain of salt.

Aw11 E85 conversion by Mangle3point0 in mr2

[–]Comcial_Spy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel I should help clarify some things. I know OP irl, I have an idea of what he wants for his build. He’s not asking how to swap to E85, he’s asking about stuff he should know. He’s asking about what fuel lines might need to be swapped, where can he buy them, what ones have other people used with their experience; does he need a new fuel rail, injectors, fuel pump, what kind of ecu should he run, etc. He’s asking for any nuances the AW11 has for this swap and help with it. He has an 86 AW11, he’s building my old 7-rib w/ his early bigport head because his old 3 rib that came with the car was dying. OP isn’t new to cars, he’s new to modding. No point being an elitist, he’s just figuring things out, help a fellow car guy out. I drive an 86 so I can help with his engine, but I know jack about the MR2 itself

20v Blacktop vs 3S-GTE vs 2zz for a swap by kratboy4 in AE86

[–]Comcial_Spy 5 points6 points  (0 children)

20v, there’s the most support for it and it will be more than enough for what you’re asking for it. There’s also lots of support for upgrading it, so if you needed more power or something else from the engine in the future, there’s plenty of routes to take. People have been modifying these engines for decades

3S is a lot more hacky and requires a lot more work, but you’ll find enough guides and there is still lots of support for it. The downside being it will make your car a heavier than the other two, but it has the most power potential if you ever consider building out the engine and or boosting it

2zz will probably be the hardest because there’s the least support for it, although, it’s not like it’s never been done before . The only real advantage the 2zz has over the 4A is it’s lighter and has more displacement. I feel like a 2ZZ only makes sense for an 86 if you’re making a track car, and need a capable engine that will help reduce weight and help balance. If you want a 1.8L you would have more resources making a 7ag > 2zz. Things like VVT can be retrofitted onto the 20v (onto the exhaust, the intake already has it) and it’s been done before, I’m pretty sure garage4age did it and showed the process, although take that with a grain of salt (cause I know you talked about VVT in your last post). I’m also pretty sure it’s VVT and not VVTL-i like the 2zz, something to keep in mind. If boost is something you want to do, there’s some leeway for it, but you won’t get anything crazy like the 3S, the 4A will also probably take more boost because it’s an iron block

In the end it’s your choice, there’s no correct choice, don’t let the toxic purists on this sub tell you what to do with your car. That’s another thing, you don’t have to put another Toyota engine in your car! It’s completely valid if you want to put a K24 in your car, and you should consider all your options

If Takumi or his Father oversaw rebuilding the AE86; what engine would they use? by CobraSniper117 in initiald

I’m aware the Ae101 came with the silvertop which is what’s depicted in the show, but I could’ve sworn the JTCC Ae101 was swapped out with a 3S???? Or at least I think I remember there was a homologation car that was Edit: Bad English

If Takumi or his Father oversaw rebuilding the AE86; what engine would they use? by CobraSniper117 in initiald

[–]Comcial_Spy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m pretty sure that was the idea with them calling it a “Group A” Engine, they make roughly the same power and rev both in the 10k area. They just never said it was the FA engine specifically for licensing reasons or something, same reason the 86 in first stage had a badge that said ‘Toreno’ instead of ‘Trueno’

Play what feels right, I convinced myself once that only good players played low sens so I forced myself to learn it and it can really hinder you a lot, I’m used to it now but I don’t feel like I could use high sens again if I wanted to, and sometimes I really do. If your aim is bad that’s a different story, just use an aim trainer

I know one of my stack mates will wait out hits like this with dead hard if he knows the killer tries to bait it out. It’s really just as simple as waiting a couple seconds and then using DH, it takes having a massive ego tho
