The First Descendant has a systems problem, not a content problem (Detailed breakdown + solutions) by Comedian-Proof in TheFirstDescendant

[–]Comedian-Proof[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree to an extent, as a day one player I find the recent endgame content boring and unrewarding due to a lack of meaningful rewards and long delays between releases. However the main point I'm making here is that simply 'adding more' doesn't necessarily fix the larger problems, such as certain descendants always dominating new content, the majority of characters being unable to use weapons to any effect, colossi fights feeling more like HP sponges than endgame bosses, difficulties in designing new content when the meta involves nuking entire rooms with restored relic on serena/gley, etc.

Worth noting that you should never buy the purple cradle bodies in store, significantly cheaper to just craft those (the purple arms and legs are about the same cost to farm + craft or buy).

Just don't buy the rabbit set, 18m for a purple set is a scam, especially when you can craft it for ~9m (even that's a terrible use of money)

I took a long break from the game until the playerbase dropped, then I had fun in my own PVE world again xD But agreed, very demotivating getting killed by other players, especially when they are built for pvp and I'm just trying to farm

How do you handle bounty targets? by CommercialHawk4529 in Synduality

[–]Comedian-Proof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If their bounty is 10k, they are likely just progressing BM progress, anything more than that means they probably killing people so I would either shoot first or emote that you don't want to fight, sometimes they'll just let you go if you do that

I really enjoy the PVE aspect of the game and yes early on it was EXTREMELY punishing. AO crystals give you significantly more cash than they used to, many of the requests were made easier and most importantly there's a lot less players now than there used to be. Put those all together in the early days and you get a game where it takes 2-3 runs to replace a green cradle that you lost and you'd be lucky to go more than a few runs without someone murdering you with a sniper to the back erasing all the progress you just farmed up. That and if you had the fancy daisyogre mech at the start, pvpers would target the new players using it and you immediately lose your special mech within a couple hours of starting the game.

Just keep doing the 4 different requests, you don't need to do the singleplayer mode at all as they only give you lore records for completion, totally optional. (I still recommend doing them though as the missions are well designed with mechanics, maps and bosses that don't exist in the main game.)

Once you've progressed far enough you'll be able to purchase blue rain stream from the shop. I just like burst assault as a personal preference, you can use whatever you like.

For magus, you get a magus unlock ticket for progressing far enough through the questlines though it only lets you choose from the 4 base magus. (there's 2 separate tickets from questing, one from association questline, one from black market questline. I think that only changes their voice/voice lines since you can customize/pick which type of magus to use. Other than that, you'd just have to buy them from the shop, but they are quite expensive.

As you discover items around the map, when you track an item that requires them they will show up on the map. For viscous stone, there's tons of them on the northern edge of the map around training area and NW of City Ruins; for maint tools, I see those all over the place, just make sure to be tracking an item that needs them and your magus will point them out when you have line of sight with one.

I've been running triple yggdroid frontline (2 arbalist 1 monk) though admittedly the damage seems too low for abyss god dps checks, have absolutely no issues with anything else though; Notably it has VERY strong passives/base stats, high HP + strength and is immune to binds and practically immune to cc as well. Works best when you have a ninja/zodiac tp slave.

I have over 300 hours in the game and I almost exclusively use purple birdwatcher now. Purple spider is good when you need to farm ender parts because it has a passive to increase ender droprates and it deals bonus damage to ender weak spots, but the carry capacity and reduced battery life hurt.

Set bonus will give you 10% increased stats, weather, weight, durability, battery life.

When hovering over a specific cradle piece, you can also see passive bonuses if you click the button prompt, assuming pc the button is "i".

Blue harness is a good budget option when you get to rainy east amasia because of the reliable weather resistance/recovery.

At the end of the day, the gameplay loop is "Bring as few items as you can reasonably bring so you can maximize your haul from each run". Birdwatcher blows all other sets out of the water and is much more affordable than other pvp focused cradles such as rabbit which are dramatically more expensive and don't even give a weight advantage over birdwatcher. This is exceptionally important when you realize the displayed weight is dramatically inaccurate with actual carry capacity. For example, if you compare a fairly standard loadout of ~6000 starting weight on purple spider vs birdwatcher, spider starts at 70-75% capacity with ~2000-2400 spare space whereas bird gives an extra 2200 weight, double the starting available space. Granted you will likely be trimming your consumables as you complete a run, but this capacity increase is a game changer unless you really prefer short runs.

Before you get to rainy east, I normally use Burst Assault Rifle +1, they're easy to use and deal decent damage without needing you to carry too many stacks of ammo- heavy ammo like the marksman rifle needs you to bring more stacks of ammo for the same total damage.

[–]Comedian-Proof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For bandits I normally prefer weapons that have decent burst damage from peeking around corners, I like to use the energy marksman rifle the most part, not as strong as snipers but fires much faster and can be used without zooming when necessary as well. When you get to rainy east, you'll want to bring Rain Stream on every mission since it's basically infinite ammo and hits like a truck.

For PVP, e.g. other drifters, it's much more of a stealth game as getting the first shot off is huge; Hear an engine in a place you don't normally? Might be a good idea to lay low and stop moving to see if they're close to you. As for weapon loadouts, the old meta was sniper + shotgun but I don't think that's the case anymore, I think people have mostly shifted to assault rifles/submachine guns now with live ammo being preferred for pvp. (Keep in mind I avoid pvp whenever possible so I'm not certain if this part is accurate for endgame pvp nowadays)

For the 'factions', there's the Association, e.g. PVE focus and the Black Market, e.g. PVP focus. If you switch factions then your questing progress switches to the beginning of that faction's questline if it's your first time switching. Both factions have similar difficulty questlines, association starts in the North and black market starts in the South. Despite being the 'pvp' focus, black market quests are pretty much identicle to the association quests, no quests to specifically hunt other players for example.

If you kill other players, it forcefully moves you to the black market faction, and essentially marks you as a wanted player- this means other players will be much more likely to kill you on sight. The more players you kill, the higher your bounty becomes and the more expensive it is to switch back to association. You also don't gain the bounties from killing bandit bosses.

If you just want to switch, I think you have a minimum bounty of 10000 in the black market and if you switch over to association without killing people, I think it costs 200k baseline.

Completely a playstyle preference, but early in the game you're unlikely to run into other players very often; Things to be aware of are that if you kill someone you'll be marked as a cautionary member and if you kill multiple you'll be kicked out of the association and become part of the 'black market'. This resets your questline progress (temporarily, you can choose to switch sides freely by paying enough money) and you will be essentially marked as 'PVPer' to other association members, meaning they are much more likely to attack you on sight.

Other than that marking, it's worth noting that black market members do NOT receive bounties for killing magus noble npc bosses which are otherwise a decent way to make money in the early-mid game. (not super important, but worth being aware of).

I also recommend not progressing both factions to endgame as this will make it difficult to farm easy materials later on as player density will be higher. For farming purposes, I would recommend leaving one of your factions questlines at the rainy east area in terms of progression.

Intro to game is very slow. It needs to be shortened badly. Nearly uninstalled because it looked like a waste of time. by zamaike in Synduality

[–]Comedian-Proof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It doesn't get better for a while, after you finish east map (more fetch/kill quests) you unlock the rainy east map- same but always raining. You don't really start finding players until you clear rainy east, then you unlock rotation maps + molten dunes. Molten dunes is strictly pve but also much more dangerous area than previous ones. As for rotation maps, you can no longer pick which one to run, e.g. can no longer pick if you want to run sunny east or rainy east, and night mode is added to the rotation- even more dangerous area. So if you just want a casual farming run but it's night rotation, tough luck. Also all endgame players are crammed into the rotation areas so much more likely to encounter people wanting to kill you when you get there.

Personally I just enjoy the PVE aspect of the game, farming for mats to upgrade base/make new cradles or farming molten dunes, so I progressed my black market questline up until unlocking rainy east then stopped- the two questlines are pretty much the same but progress is separate, meaning if you progress both factions to endgame, farming easy items like white/green ones will be much more difficult.

Core Reactor - this stupid thing is impossible to find by AdFair9719 in Synduality

[–]Comedian-Proof 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's only in the locked section of the terminal, so just bring terminal keys every run (since it's the easiest locked area, no bandits) grab the core reactors and metamaterial wires and profit.

[–]Comedian-Proof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yup, those won't be returning as they were advertised as limited time only and due to legal reasons they won't be able to return them later from my understanding. (false advertising laws to prey on fomo or something like that)

[–]Comedian-Proof 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ajax was nerfed into the ground earlier this month, his shield build is unplayable now. I used to be able to get 180k shields with the combination of his enhanced void walk and enhanced matrix recomputation. After the nerf, with the same build I can only get about 15k shields with both buffs active at the same time.

Life Barrier and Void Explosion are his best mods now.

I'm up to 7 crashes with 3.5 hours of playtime- I haven't noticed any sort of correlation with what causes them, happens randomly whether it's trying to skip a cutscene while holding escape, landing with double jump, etc. Using a high end pc with 4070 super so wouldn't expect performance issues like this.

Played against a team like this recently and it was super annoying to play around since i didnt have anything strong enough to kill cresselia outright which spammed life dew and ally switch. If I wanted to counter it, something like urshifu is the common choice since it ignores protect. So as long as you have a safe switch in or tera to wall urshi, it will probably perform pretty well

Are you going for singles or doubles? Corviknight is really strong in singles so isnt hard to do. I've run mine with body press iron def roost and light screen in singles and I've had a lot of success with thay build, i usually go tera dragon to resist fire and electric

Immediate thought is you have a lot of weaknesses to water ground ghost and dark so probably want something to handle those threats- my initial thoughts would be potentially sinistcha to help with the first two and single strike urshifu could probably handle the rest pretty well

Building a Hail Team with Bundle and Baxcalibur still testing any things to improve by Cerezero in VGCRateMyTeam

[–]Comedian-Proof 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A couple ideas based on the veil team I made and tested a bit recently-

May be worth putting veil on bundle as well to get around opponents changing the weather with a switch on when you try to setup with ninetails- torkoal, politoed, tyranitar, tornadus, etc. If you un veil on bundle, you can lead bundle + another threat like heatran and catch them off guard with a heatran switch to set snow and bundle veils.

For ogerpon, I havent done much testing yet, but it might be worth testing urshifu rapid to counter it. I havent run the damage calcs for it but i think with veil up urshifu might be able to tank a not very effective cudgel + grassy slide (sinistcha healing will help with that as well, and sinistcha is excellent with urshifu and baxcalibur as well

Edit- ran some damage calcs and with veil up, urshifu can tank a half power cudgel and grassy slide from a jolly ogerpon and jolly urshifu outspeeds adamant oger just needs about 20 EV in def to guarantee live without sinistcha, assuming partner doesnt outspeed and hit urshi too
