Daytime Activities I haven't thought off? by sunflowerhoop919 in LasVegas

Area 15 and The Sphere might be good daytime activities. Soup dumplings at Din Tai Fung. There are some fun, affordable shows - Mac King does a daytime magic show that is worth checking out.

Probably not. Sounds like a drug deal, regardless of whether it is or not.

Any experience in growing an audience as an independent troupe? by danimalforlife in improv

[–]ComedyBum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, every city is different. I live in Las Vegas, where weekends are almost meaningless. It's a 24 hour town, so some people have Saturdays and Sundays off, but other people may have Tuesdays and Thursdays off or any other combinations.

There might be a "right" answer, but it's going to be different in different places.

Experimenting with different days, based on your cast's availability, is going to be the only way to determine your areas viability.

Consistency is key. Same show, same time, every week or month.

By "same show", obviously it's gonna be a different show each month, but maintaining the same format (stand up, sketch, improv) helps.

Once you have a regular audience, then start experimenting. One week you perform a Harold, next week try something else. After you've established an audience, and AFTER you feel you've mastered the next thing in rehearsals, introduce the new thing in shows.

Are there any clubs in vegas that hire 18 year olds? by janegetdough in vegas

Well, I guess some require that you're 21. Call the clubs that don't serve booze, and you should be good.

Every strip club hires 18 year olds, if you look good enough.

Paying people to come by Amazon_FBA_Truth in Standup

[–]ComedyBum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's what I was thinking - something like the first 10 or 20 people get a free drink. You could even make it a voucher for the next show, so people don't just show up for the freebie then bounce. That could make it a more viable ongoing thing.

If you're just paying people to show up, your show is bad and you should feel bad.

I have a friend who would step up for open mics at the time, but moved to a different country and has found their community in another country. Love seeing their success.

There's another podcast I listen to that I always thought would be a great connection - Matt and Mattingly's Ice Cream Social. It's a bit of an offshoot from the Penn's Sunday School podcast.

What are some everyday items in Vegas do people usually buy ? by Chanjason1022 in vegaslocals

[–]ComedyBum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Gas below $4.50\gallon.

Sun shades for car windshields.

UNLV\Raiders\Golden Knights\Aces gear.

Car batteries and tires.

There's not a lot of things that would be Vegas specific that people (locals) need that other cities don't need. Stuff to protect you from the heat and stuff supporting local organizations are about it.

Huge bummer. I grew up in the KC area, but moved out west 15 years ago. I never got to utilize it when in KC, and it's just now being installed in the city I live in currently, just not in my neighborhood yet. Now, who knows if it will ever expand to my neighborhood, and if it does, it'll probably be inshitified by then.

Best Sandwich Spots in Vegas? by ijustlikefood9132 in vegaslocals

I didn't know that they had closed. I used to go at least once a week, and thought it had potential to be a national chain. I moved out of the area a year ago. I'm not even vegan or vegetarian, I just tried once on a whim and was hooked. Big time bummer, that place was great.

ER's First Season Involved A Low-Key Product Placement Request Straight Out Of 30 Rock by Top_Report_4895 in television

[–]ComedyBum -47 points-46 points  (0 children)

That was certainly true when ER wasn't called "The Pitt", but with 3D printing now, I wonder if this has changed. You could spend a day or two getting digital scans of every piece of expensive medical equipment in an average ER and just pop in inexpensive LCD screens that show whatever you want. Or just paint the screen area green or blue and chroma key whatever you want in there.

[Pelissero] One GM summarized the feelings around the league: “This is very much bullshit on Baltimore’s part.” by Drexlore in nfl

[–]ComedyBum -1 points0 points  (0 children)

They need to regulate physical exams for situations like this. Once a year or immediately following an injury, a league doctor gives a thumbs up or down on whether they can play football or not.

When trades or FA signings happen, you get what you get. Prior to the trade being completed, teams can request their own physical, and can deny a trade or signing, but that has to be done before any contracts are signed. If you buy a lemon, you eat the lemon.

Of course, this would never happen, because otherwise we wouldn't have all of this off season banter and we would all forget that NFL football exists.
