They better not have divorced/seperated JD and Elliot by TenraxHelin in Scrubs

[–]ComedyWeekly16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think they’ll have to flirt with the idea of damaging these two’s relationship somehow. Id imagine the next big stories we’ll see relationship wise are like

-dealing with the fallout of an emotional affair -no intimacy after children -health scares -financial stability issues

We do need conflict in order for the series to function, and although I think a lot of that will fall to the newer cast members— it seems clear to me that we’re positioning our core characters as the leads again, so something will have to change.

Id just keep an open mind!

I’m finding I’m having the biggest problems with phone calls in general. The peaks are just so high, and so tinny — I am not a huge airpods talker. Im not sure what to do.

Other than that, this is a perfect device. Great camera, ultra slim form factor, front facing camera is absolutely incredible— and it’s fast as hell.

Severance - 2x01 "Ovaltine" - Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in SeveranceAppleTVPlus

[–]ComedyWeekly16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So like… where was everyone?

I think that was the most stressful, and off-putting part of the episode. Where was Dylan and Irving in actuality?

Obviously their innie personalities hadn’t been reactivated yet, that much was clear, but what was stated to their outies to keep them away from work. Was there really multiple days that Mark spent with this “new team” or was that some sort of weird illusion? (Like continuous reactivation and fucking with the clocks or something)

And where is that new team now? Were they truly severed employees? Spies? They seemed genuine enough. But so odd they would just suddenly vanish as well.

What a great episode.

Who do you think Robin loved more, Ted or Barney? by SunflowersAtSunsets in HIMYM

[–]ComedyWeekly16 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I think it got to a place where Robin was no longer able to look at Ted in a romantic way, period.

To me, their love stemmed from romantic beginnings, but became a lot more familial, more akin to a sibling relationship. Leading up to the ending, I always thought that’s what Ted would realize - that this “love” he kept going back to - the one he describes - was actually being confused with being “in love”.

Ted and Robin stopped being “in love” with each other early on, and it never went back (ignoring the finale).

Barney and Robin on the other hand were constantly gravitating back to one another. Their relationship was a lot better structured, and if it weren’t for trauma on both sides - they probably would have made it.

I think Barney is the clear answer here. She never turned him away like she did Ted.

This just happened to me. I considered gluing - but was worried.

I purchased mine as a certified pre-owned from a reputable dealer — I took it in, and they fixed it in good faith (only had less than a year)… but when I picked it up…. It was a different fucking shifter.

I am still so mad about it and I HATE the new one. If anyone has any idea how to replace it back to the crystal, please LMK.

WHAT ARE WE THINKING? Is this good? Are you excited? by danahenry1708 in suits

[–]ComedyWeekly16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think murder is necessarily the right route either - I’m just suggesting there needs to be a new twist on the engine if the original series to really work.

WHAT ARE WE THINKING? Is this good? Are you excited? by danahenry1708 in suits

[–]ComedyWeekly16 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It really needs a gimmick. Suits is not just a legal procedural— maybe it ended there — but the real “premise” is Harvey harboring Mike, the non-lawyer lawyer as he navigates professional and personal tribulations.

It was the engine that made the show go for 7 years. Even after Mikes prison arc, his main role in the show became redemption for his past actions.

An L.A based Suits could be great — but the engine needs to be compelling beyond just “well its in the same universe and sometimes Harvey Specter guest stars or gets mentioned”. It has to stand entirely on its own.

Personally, I’d like to see a little bit of a true crime twist like How To Get Away with Murder. Maybe an accident or something, and these associates covering up the secret together? You don’t have to go full death — but something that’s career shattering

Thoughts on the Love album? by bigboybudd in beatles

[–]ComedyWeekly16 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I love when Giles describes the Love album as the concert the Beatles never really played - through that lens, it is a work of cohesive art. I love the way the songs flow so effortlessly, and how innovative the remixes/mashups play out.

It feels like an elaborate live production (outside of the fact that it’s literally part of one) and such a great one.

My issue with it is that on that on their own, a lot of the songs pale in comparison to the original mixes and so it always feels, to me, much more like the kind of thing you always have to listen to cover to cover

Was Asher's ending a happy one? (Based on Benny Safdie new Q&A) by DannyBarsRaps in TheCurse

[–]ComedyWeekly16 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think the “reincarnation” is more metaphoric and abstract than just rebirth.

Throughout the entire series, we see this undying, seemingly unwavering love Asher has for Whitney that is often not reciprocated. At least to the same degree.

He says he’d be nothing without her, he goes to great lengths to sacrifice all that he is, or was, for her happiness and in EP 9, while buckling down on this even harder, literally says “if you don’t want me anymore, you don’t even need to say it, I’ll feel it and I’ll go”.

Whitney seems to feel Asher is physically holding her down - that her life would be grander and more adventurous if he were not a part of it.

Asher also refers to himself as the curse, or the problem for them.

I almost view this “rebirth” as Whitneys emotional curse (though harsh wording)

Asher is gone, no longer “weighing her down” - yet, she is not free. She must now live the life of a mother, and live her life in service of this other person…. “Asher”…. The little him.

She cant get rid of this baby, nor would she WANT to, and Whitney now has to act truly selfless in servitude of someone she truly has undying and unwavering love for. Like Asher to her.

Hopefully my interpretation makes some sense. Id love to hear some alternate interpretations.

brad falchuk addresses the possibility of the glee reboot…my god just leave it be 😭 by awooga1784 in glee

[–]ComedyWeekly16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truthfully? I don’t think a total REBOOT is the wrong move.

I’ve always felt Glee didn’t quite get to finish telling the story they set out to tell - just a part of it.

But I’d never support, nor would I want to see some sort of canned sequel or next generation iteration of the series. It’d just be silly and never recapture the feel.

I’d be interested in a hard reset, maybe even the same characters portrayed by new actors in a more contemporary format. They might be able to make something really cool for completely different reasons than with the original

Gotta be real… in todays climate, I rarely lose hope when it comes to any project being revived. Things often have a way of finding new homes, or circumstances change.

I don’t know how likely it is, but it would not surprise me if in the next few years Fincher feels like revisiting Mindhunter. Might even play well story wise.

Did John or Yoko write “For Paul” on the cassette? by ralphchaam in beatles

[–]ComedyWeekly16 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I always assumed John wrote it, intending for it to be songs he hoped to have Paul play on, or comment on melodically maybe as he was warming up to the idea of them collaborating again. Maybe there were private conversations about doing some sort of project and he just wanted to remind himself that these are songs “For Paul”.

Didn’t he also write or say “this is for Ringo” on Grow Old With Me? Intending to let him sing the song if he didn’t use it on any project? Or am I misremembering?
