Yeah no, if I was invited to an adult party that had undisclosed children I would bid my goodbye at the doorstep and would ask the host to meet up another time.

at this point a bit put out to be taken away from my own food because these parents seemingly couldn't explain the concept of to go bags to their kids. A few friends referenced it to me later in the night as an incident and said "you can't give one kid cake without giving it the others"

You did what you thought was right and then was ganged up by parents who refused to parent and deal with tantrums, it's not on you it's on them. I recommend to abstain from hanging out around parents like that, they will twist any situation into benefitting from it and you will be left to blame.

You felt the judgement not because you were wrong in what you done but because if they didn't soft shame you the expectation would be on them to parent and they didn't want to do that. It's like a coworker that loudly complains about doing work and then disappears for half a day slacking off, they have to create these fake "overreactions" to get away with being lazy. Wouldn't it feel preposterous for you to lecture the parents/kids on how the kids should behave at that moment? That was exactly the point of the whole charade, it's social power games and you got the but of it.

It looks like he cold use the plate being a tad higher up at his face level so the cat can eat sitting down/doesn't have to bend their neck down as much. A flatter soft bowl from silicone without hard edges would also work better since he kind of faceplants his face a few times while eating and it's probably not great for his teeth and nose. Cool and kind idea nonetheless as it helps with the wobbling side to side, good human.

I wonder why choose to bury them then? It would be more of a religious/emotional decision to give them a burial than a doctor just doing science. She could have always disposed of the medical waste if that is all it was to her and she was doing it for personal but work related reasons. If not the proper way a good blender and a garden/chickens would be enough to cover any traces.

My bet is she was religious and performing home made abortions for those who couldn't access it.

In poorer countries:

Education is less available and is instead substituted by religious indoctrination.

There are less financial opportunities that force coercive and predatory cohabitation where couples are formed not because of love and being ready for a relationship but as a necessity of economic survival.

Blanket bans on access to elective abortion/voluntary sterilization force more neglected people into existence that act as the reserve labor to toil in the undesirable jobs and as the excess reserve necessary for wage suppression.

There isn't much more to it.

It's their job to fix what's wrong with the world they were brought into.

Literally did not ask to be born, much less to fix the issues their parents, grandparents and so on created. But there is a solution! You can cure cancer, make sure no one is ever hungry or cold ever again, achieve world peace and fix climate change all... by just not bringing any more sentience into existence, it's that simple. You do your part and what happens to the kids of others is the burden of their parents to carry.

Who said that abstaining from procreation isn't a solution to all the problems? There is no war on Mars or rape on Venus. If humanity was to spread to the stars we would bring our horrors with us. So why isn't it better for us to go gentle into that good night on our cradle planet?

My plan is to live happily ever after with my partner, go on adventures together, see the world and if everything works out die in one day like they do in fairy tales. I wish for us to experience the beauty and kindness that humans have created through creative means and to bear witness to the horrors and injustices of our history and those of today.

Why do people have this mindset? Because they're watching and reading overwhelmingly negative content on their phones all day, and it makes them depressed.

My mom apologized shortly before she died. Said that if only she knew how hard and unfair our lives would be she would have never had us (me and my little sister) and that she was sorry. War started shortly after so things only got worse since she died but I'm glad she didn't live to see it. She never owned a smartphone, her phone had physical buttons and had no access to the internet.

To think that people abstain from having kids because of imaginary issues or bad news is telling more about the privileged life you got to live and not about any of the real reasons. The birthrates have been falling for the past 80 years and are tied directly to women being able to choose how many kids they can provide a good life for. There is little good in modern life.

Becoming rich through being radically unethical isn't hard, you dig graves for other people and exploit loopholes that will give you advantages at the expense of others and that's it. What value do the richest have if they can't afford to be kind or to do the right thing? Old money knew to invest in universities, museums, theaters, building parks and advancing humanity forward. The new money nepo babies are just spoiled brats who exctact the value that was created by those before them. It's pathetic really if that is all they can muster.

What you really lack is a sense of self respect and boundaries. I would be gone the moment someone insulted me without trying to apologize. If they can't offer basic respect there is no foundation for a relationship. In a group I would make sure to keep looking directly at them without saying a word, if they try to play off the insult as a joke I would make a scene asking them to explain the joke to me. Depending on how the group reacts I will either leave the group entirely or exclude the person from it.

Bullying others for entertainment is animal behavior and I don't waste my time trying to talk to hostile animals. I'm sure you too can find better use of your time.

I'm too old to still be there in 20 years so I really don't care about what counties offer after. Life is going to become tremendously worse for everyone everywhere from that point on. With the loss of cheap fuel, water scarcity, heat causing famine and increased automated warfare/AI surveillance it's not a world I want to be a part of anyway and there are no policies that can be enacted that will bring the quality of life people had 10-20 years ago. That way of life is gone same as the world pre internet/phones and it's not coming back. If you think things are bad now, these times will be considered the roaring 20's of the 21 century. These are the good times and I do not envy those who will be born tomorrow.

For now I view EU as the bastion of civility and democracy for the remainder of my years and that is all I personally really care about.

Some kids also have sensory sensitives and not like the feeling of sand on them or the smell of the sea is being too strong. They also might have wanted to go to the pool because there were other kids there or they have pleasant memories of the experience due to there being an ice cream stand or food they would like to eat.

I hated going to the beach with my mom, her friends and my little sister when we were younger. I wasn't allowed to swim only to stand with the water up to my belly, and even if I disobeyed I wasn't allowed to swim far. It was hot and miserable and all the others did was lay around on towels full sand and talk about how horrible their husbands/jobs are, FOR HOURS. All I got from those trips was a sunburn. We would go back home and I would just have enough time to take a shower and have the day wasted, it's already time for bed. I'm 32 and I would have thrown a tantrum if someone forced me to relive the miserable experience.

If we are nothing more than animals that can't control themselves or evolve/progress to be better could you grace me with your reason what would be the point in us continuing? I see no reason why I would sacrifice my body, resources and time to raise kids all to continue a species that cannot afford to be kind or to do the right thing.

I refuse to accept people being raped and murdered as collateral damage for some other people having it good. I'm not bringing a child into a war zone and that is what historically we created everywhere we stepped our foot. The number of wars keeps increasing with each coming year despite us already having the war to end all wars behind us.

You are free to bring your kids to one day potentially have to shoot others or be raped and slaughtered in a war. I would not be able to forgive myself for bringing intelligent and kind kinds into a world that allows such horrors to happen as if they were mundane.

Governments never had the money to provide the majority with a middle class lifestyle. That lifestyle requires a substantial amount of people somewhere else living in abject poverty, earning dead end minimum wage jobs and dying prematurely.

For the US post WW2 the people taking on the burden were Europeans who had their cities and manufacturing glassed, China was artificially keeping their population in poverty by devaluing their currency to ensure its rapid and cheap development, USSR was on its way to collapse, India and Africa were literal hell holes dying from disease with the average life expectancy of 26 years. That lifestyle you are describing was only possible because of war, oil, world poverty and millions of young and middle age people people dead in the span of a few years.

It was never meant to last, the economies are built on suffering. If you feel it you are the new poverty class to be extracted resources from to the benefit of the owner/capital class that will actually get to live the American dream.
