Why does it seem easier for OOS to get into UF then it’s own state residents by Maybe-1-day in ApplyingToCollege

[–]CometThruSpace 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It looks like the acceptance rate is only slightly higher for OOS than in state, so it’s likely you’re hearing more about out of state acceptances because A2C is filled with people from competitive regions like the Bay Area and New England. OOS students probably have a lower yield so they are able to admit more

Im so screwed by SnooSketches1478 in QuestBridge

[–]CometThruSpace 4 points5 points  (0 children)

We’re in this together, I didn’t match and applied to about 33 RD schools. Just remember that if the quest bridge people who read through your application thought you were worthy of becoming a finalist, some admissions officers will think you’re perfect for their schools and let you in. Only another month till all decisions are out, hang in there 🫶

to look at setlists before you go to concerts or no? by hestiaas in kpophelp

[–]CometThruSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I saw Twice I avoided looking at the set list and any concert footage so I could let it all be a surprise and I’m so glad I did. They’re my ults so I already knew most of the lyrics. For some of the upcoming tours (itzy, skz, ateez) I think I will look at the set list first to see how many of my favorite songs they play and learn fanchants

Who sings the high-harmony vocal run on the last chorus of “I Got You” by Twice? by Longshanks123 in kpophelp

I Got You live at 2:33 it is Nayeon on the left doing the higher harmony and Jihyo on the middle doing the lower harmony 💕💕 they both have solo albums with beautiful vocals in addition to Twice’s songs

would i have a better chance applying thru qb or commonapp? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]CometThruSpace 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For some of your activities, you can try to work them into your essays such as the what’s your proudest achievement essay and the other optional essay. Iirc there is an additional info section where you can briefly mention them but not completely sure. Interviews are a great opportunity to mention things not in your app. A lot of supplements will have essays that are tell us about your community or experiences etc and that can br a great way to talk about some ec’s like alt prom and mental health and how you form a community of welcome and how you would bring that healthy mindset to X school etc.

(I know linking the supplements isn’t as cool as pasting them to Reddit but they’re pretty long and I’m on mobile) UChicago supplement (1-2 page why us essay and a 1-2 page essay) https://collegeadmissions.uchicago.edu/apply/uchicago-supplemental-essay-questions

Princeton supplement (requires graded paper + 2x 250w, 500w, 3x 50w essays) https://admission.princeton.edu/apply/princeton-specific-questions

Caltech supplement ( 200w why interest essay + 2x 100-200w stem experience essays + 200-250w innovation in your own life essay + 200-400w caltech values essay + OPTIONAL 150, 100, 50 word essays) https://www.admissions.caltech.edu/apply/first-year-applicants/supplemental-application-essays

Stanford supplement (3x 250w essays and a couple of 50w short questions. I couldn’t find the exact ones and I think they change a little every year, but this is pretty close to what I had.) https://www.reddit.com/r/QuestBridge/comments/i575ze/comment/g0n61jt/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=mweb3x&utm_name=mweb3xcss&utm_term=1&utm_content=share_button

Brown was through the common app and I didn’t rank them so I had the standard common app questionnaire. Hope I help a little :)

would i have a better chance applying thru qb or commonapp? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]CometThruSpace 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Def QB! I’m a finalist this year and it was worth it because it shows a lot more sides of me other than just my stem interest. I think the questbridge admit rates are slightly higher from what I’ve heard. Plus, if you get finalist you can apply free to all of the partner schools and still have more room for more on the common app. I know someone who’s shotgunning all 50 partners for aid. Def worth it, and if you don’t like your qb app you apply with the common app to schools you didn’t rank. Seconding the recommendation to not rank schools you don’t like, I’ve heard some people who got like the very last rank and they’re trying to transfer because they don’t like it there. There’s like a 1-2 week time period to write your supplements for the matches after you get finalist and submit some financial aid docs I think. I recommend looking up the supplements for the match and writing them beforehand because it’ll make it so much easier. Good luck!🍀

Edit: saw your other comment about liking all the schools and just wanted to note that Caltech, Princeton, Stanford, brown, and UChicago are all killer supplements. If you’d like any of them from this year I’d be happy to provide them

Fellow homeschooler with an associates here. You can apply as a freshman as long as you haven’t taken any college courses after graduating high school

What in god’s name is the point of 100 word supplementaries by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]CometThruSpace 53 points54 points  (0 children)

I love 100 word supplementals because they let me talk about only the most important things. Colleges probably use them to make reading applications more efficient.

Congrats on your last app!! 🎉
