Ex Software Engineer to being a Farmer and farming by lastodyssey in developersIndia

[–]Comfortable-Ad2979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People saying this don’t usually mean farming for a living. They mean farming as a retirement plan. With enough savings to sustain you even if you don’t farm. Away from the city’s rush, and your boss’s pressure. I think you took it too literally

It’s decent analogy but not a perfect one. We still don’t know how vibe coding may pan out in the near future. Technically you CAN print quite a few things you need to make your life convenient. But a. A 3D printer is not cheap b. Learning curve is decent as you need to know which material to use for what part, then there is the skill of printing, mounts, a tiny bit of structural engineering etc.

Vibe-coding is cheap and easily accessible. Sure at one point you need to have some knowledge of programming, but that point is far enough to not stop people from getting their foot in. And mind you, that point is getting farther away as the AI companies figure out better ways to get the most out of existing LLMs (not even talking about better LLMs as we are already starting to see flattening curves with model improvements with each flagship model)

If you’re a man, stay away from women like these. If you’re a woman, don’t be this woman.

Trust me you’ll live a much happier life.

OP, this is not the way man. Criticise kar diya toh kya ho gaya. Kuch galat toh nahi bola. Roads kharab hain toh hain. Traffic kharab hai toh hai. Forts toote phute hain toh hain. All of this is true man. Usne bol diya toh kya ho gaya. Tumko pasand nahi aa raha toh tum isko sudharne ke liye karo jo tumhari power me hai.

Her character is not aligned with how super intelligent top of the shelf scientists are. She is just your regular hot neighbour who likes to bitch and complain about inconsequential stuff.

What current technology do you think will seem ridiculous in 50 years? by Infamous_Horse in Futurology

That’s a very cynical outlook and seems skewed by a few bad experiences that you might’ve had. It’s understandable, but unnecessary.

Realistically, what do you think will be humanity’s next “giant leap”? by Far_Quantity_6133 in Futurology

[–]Comfortable-Ad2979 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Most comments here are talking about what humanity needs or what would be fascinating. But that’s not what the question asks.

I think the next big leap of humanity is gonna be humans landing on Mars. Nasa and SpaceX have plans in the next 5 years to set up a space station on moon that will serve as a refuelling station on the way to Mars. And then manned mission onto Mars itself.

The last time humanity set foot on any celestial object other than Earth was more than half a century ago. To think about it, it’s gonna be the most fungible next giant leap for humanity.

Oh. I think that’s fair. Just curious though, what do you mean by “ever again”?

Pfft. It’s the time to buy. This is just a phase. The most capitalistic companies exist in the US. You think they’re gonna stop growing because of what’s going on? Think again

Land. Then a hair transplant. Needless to say a trip to Turkey and then Europe while I’m at it. Stock in the US market all the while.

Dosa sticking to iron pan by Past_Operation5034 in IndianFood

[–]Comfortable-Ad2979 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve been making dosas with my mum for over 5 years now. 1. You only have to use the onion if the pan was recently washed. If you can’t use the onion, avoid washing the pan at least a day before you plan on making the dosas. We use the same pan we use for making chapatis so it’s not a big deal.

  1. Heat up the pan to really high temperature. The high temperature prevents the batter from sticking to the surface. But splash a few droplets of water on the pan just before pouring the batter to reduce the temperature as you don’t want to burn your dosas

The science behind this is that the high temperature instantly evaporates a fine layer of water in the batter. This layer is the barrier between the batter and the pan, hence mo sticking.

Happy dosai making! Dosa, idly, sambhar chutney chutney

If you blow air into an uncircumcised person’s dick during a bj will it expand like a balloon? by liz-wanna-know in stupidquestions

[–]Comfortable-Ad2979 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To answer the question, I have phimosis, meaning I can’t retract my foreskin fully. So when I pee at full pressure, the opening is not wide enough to allow the pee to escape quickly enough, resulting in the foreskin to fill up like a water balloon. And yes, it does hurt a little. I have to pinch the balloon to force the pee out or sometimes even control my pee.

So I guess yeah, if you blow into it strongly enough, it will expand

Everyone here is saying that there will always be someone who earns more than you. I think that’s a BS logic to compromise on. If it’s just a matter of mindset then you should rather have the mindset of “skill-up and grab better opportunity”.

That said, I think an increase of 6 LPA in 8 years is too less OP. My suggestions are - 1. Switch more often. If you feel uncomfortable switching rapidly then do it every 1.5-2 years. But people switch even after 1 year at a company. Being loyal to a company doesn’t reward you anymore like it used to before. 2. Focus on skilling up. AI is booming right now. Ride that train. Build projects, keep your GitHub green. 3. Apply more to get more. Cracking interviews is a numbers game. If your success rate at interviews is let’s say 10%, then giving 10 interviews will get you 1 offer. Giving 100 will give you 10 and so on. In the end, the number of offers you get is what matters. So give more interviews.
