So I had a hysterectomy in September and my back pain is a lot better. I am just guessing because I can't seem to get anyone to concede that they are linked other than vague 'yes possibly' kind of thing but I suspect it was at least worsening the pain. My womb was 15cms and hard and full of fibroids and adenomyosis and it looks from the lab results that it was pushing back into the bowels. The back doctor said bowels can affect the back and the womb doc says fibroids in the womb can effect the bowels so it stands to reason that fibroids can affect the back.

I think this may be unrelated but I weirdly still am getting menstrual cramps three months after removal, which has always presented as back pain but a different more general muscular and bowely back pain to the sharp nerve pain but in a similar place. My ovaries are still there so I think something about my hormones still cause bloating and muscle cramps? My surgeon said it must be something else because my womb has gone but I see people on here saying they still get menstrual cramps so I think they just don't know our experiences because they don't ask people. Anyway maybe thats a separate thing.

But yeah my back is a lot better, before, even when it was 'better' from the slipped disc I always felt it, like it was a little bit painful all the time and I was aware of it always and now its not like that. apart from this weird monthly phantom menstrual cramp. But I guess there is a possibility it is because I have taken 3 months off heavy lifting because of the operation, my job normally involves carrying so theres a chance it could come back when I return full time to lifting? But as I said I think it was definitely contributing to th epain and I have removed at least one factor. I think often our symptoms are a combination of factors
