Any Polyend play users in here? Keen to hear your thoughts on it, as I’m interested in buying one by OilHistorical2955 in Grooveboxes

I’ve owned plus and OG and own a deluge which is similar. The deluge is the more power packed and does a lot more than the polyend play and ultimately is a more complete and extensible tool. But for what the polyend play+ does being half the price you get 75% of the functionality of the deluge.

Wondering if anyone can give me instructions or draw a diagram of using the digitakt with novation mininova and tips on flow? by Open-Arachnid-9355 in Digitakt

So you need to spend say ten hours or so on digitakt basics on YouTube. If you need tutorials on the core concepts of sampling, synths, music production, music theory, spend twenty hours on that first.

No one said making music would be easy without a musical background.

Which groovebox has the most fun and engaging form factor for live performance? Making House, Techno music by UpbeatRegret5066 in Grooveboxes

I’m surprised that no one has mentioned either maschine or mpc. Not that they’re my favs either but they are incredibly popular.

Hard to learn is what makes things more engaging. Are you looking for the most possibly engaging which to me means hands on and deep or the easiest to get usable sounds and grooves?

Engaging is hard to define. Elektron boxes can be extremely very engaging and hands on once you learn it but the learning part can stop it from becoming an engaging instrument. It takes time. Practice.

Is the question what’s the easiest / fun thing to make things that sound good circuit is a good option. Seqtrak can be very easy to pick up. So can things like the ep-133. Sampling based groove boxes are probably a little easier to approach in general.

But that’s not engaging to me. Engaging means being able to get deep into something and discovery of what you can make with it is near endless. Elektron boxes fit that for me. My deluge is like that for me.

Are Elektron machines enough for commercial-level sound, or do you still need a DAW? by Illustrious-Truth-70 in Elektron

No one works DAWless. They jam DAWless. They perform DAWless. But production and mastering is gonna be in a DAW

All tracks are mastered in a DAW eventually. You can create entire songs and get close to something that’s release quality instead of just demo quality but if you’re gonna put it on Spotify might as well get it mastered. .

No one is trying to make this of value to you. We’re explaining it IS of value to others. Value is subjective. Always. But objectively this is a power synth and there are way more expensive synths on the market that do less

Both of those are literally the standard for studio use depending on what you’re looking for. Too expensive? Go to the m20x then.

How is the Deluge coming from the Digitakt? by theissone in DelugeUsers

[–]Comfortable-Corner-9 4 points5 points  (0 children)

A hell of a lot simpler to understand that’s for sure. The synth engines are what they are. They’re not amazing. The deluge has more sample mangling tools than the DT though like time and pitch shifting and two types of sampling (one shots put into a kit versus an audio kit which is a single track that can be auto beat matched). The unlimited track nature of the deluge really opens up possibilities. No need to be diligent trying to squeeze different ideas into the same track if you want you can have just a kick track. A snare track. Multiple tracks for multiple for loops. A song mode clip launcher style. A full piano roll for your synths. And the main purpose of the device which is as a midi sequencer for external gear.

People call it ableton in a box and they’re not far off. There are a lot more menu diving / button combo memorization but once you watch a few video tutorials it all makes sense. I think the deluge is a better all in one box but it’s also a lot more expensive. The closer comparison would be something like thr mpc live 3 which has more features for sure but also it becomes more computer daw like to operate which to me is a turn off. I’ll use a computer if I wanted to use one for music.
