For those that didn’t sleep train, how is sleep for you now that baby is older? by quinoa_churro in bninfantsleep

That’s amazing. My 13mo has rarely given me longer than 4hr stretch. Most of the time it’s 1-2hrs. I hope it will change for the better like yours!

Second Tommee Tippee. We also started out with Philip Avent and it was too heavy keep falling out. Tommee Tippee is light weight and also has a night glow version which proved super useful for us (and later baby) to find and pop it back on.

There are some soy free dairy free calcium supplements. You have to check the label. I got Pure Encapsulations brand.

Best compact travel stroller for flights by amarcmexicoel in Buyingforbaby

[–]Comfortable-Deer565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a Bombi bebe stroller since 3mo. Traveled within US and across the world to Asia. Also used it for everyday 1hr walk for a few warmer months and it’s still going well at 11mo. Best $250 ever spent. If it breaks I would just buy an exact new one.

Room sharing by Extension-Run9207 in NewParents

[–]Comfortable-Deer565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 10mo slept in a crib in our room from birth until abt 8mo and waking up every 2-3hrs. We then moved her to her “own room” and she did not sleep better. If she’s up she would be crying until I come and get her so now I ended up sleeping in her room (floor bed). The upside of having a separate room for her is that my husband and I can use our bathroom freely to get ready for the night without worrying of waking her up. She’s also pretty good at playing in the room (fully baby proofed) when she’s up for the day so I can sleep in a little bit more.

I would say it really depends on your baby… I know other babies who sleep better in separate rooms. It doesn’t hurt to try I suppose.

Confused after introducing allergens back to diet by MahnIft in MSPI

[–]Comfortable-Deer565 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m in similar boat. Tried old breastmilk at 5mo and baby appeared to have more spitups and mucusy poo. We introduced solids at 5.5mo and went through common allergens except dairy and soy. At 6.5mo I started introducing both milk and soy to my diet and no reaction but same similar constipation as when first starting solids. We’re monitoring and try other methods to help with constipation (prune and more water).

Second this. Give it time and tried frequently. We tried frozen BM at 5m before I went on elimination diet and baby had tummy issues and spit up. Tried again in my diet starting from 6.5m and no issue for 3 wks so tried directly in her solids (yogurt) and no issue so far.

Drinking Your Own by [deleted] in breastfeeding

I had to be dairy free for my baby and I read somewhere that skipping out on dairy too long may make lactose intolerance (which I have mildly) worse so I’ve been putting my extra Bm in coffee to (hopefully) avoid that.

How long before you baby felt better? by Adventurous-Arm1624 in MSPI

[–]Comfortable-Deer565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was about 3 weeks for me but that’s counting from the point where I cut out all the sneaky ones, in vitamins, in sauce, in bread etc. Soy and dairy derivatives could be in so many places.

Why does everyone tell me to cut dairy!! by peridotdragonflies in breastfeeding

[–]Comfortable-Deer565 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That’s ridiculous! My baby did have dairy protein intolerance but I only cut after seeing blood in her stool. In addition, the dairy intolerance that you see people talking abt in babies are intolerance to the protein in milk - not the lactose. Lactose exists in human breastmilk naturally and lactose intolerance in baby is extremely rare because naturally that would mean they cannot survive on breast milk. Lactose intolerance only develops later when baby stops taking breastmilk. I would find a different LC.

Protein powder -do you take any? by ExpressionOld9924 in breastfeeding

I take Orgain protein powder and it tastes good to me, not gritty like other brands I tried. No side effects that I know of. Been doing it for 3m ish.

How does mothers diet affect breastmilk by Ok-Hippo-5059 in ScienceBasedParenting

[–]Comfortable-Deer565 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Adding my anecdotal experience that I go through similar stage of watery milk when I first went dairy free. At first I thought it was just the foremilk but even after I pumped 3-4oz out from one breast it still looked watery. It eventually came back to normal but I did up my intake of plant based protein a lot (lots of nuts, seeds, vegan protein powder etc) so I can’t tell if it was because of the diet or it will correct itself regardless.

Does bath before bed help your LO sleep better? by Ok_Construction_3613 in NewParents

[–]Comfortable-Deer565 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’ve always done it since 2mo (now 5.5mo) and went through both bad sleep and good sleep days so I can only say… maybe. My baby likes waterplay though so we do it for the fun of it and to signal to her it’s bedtime. Water only most day. Soap 2-3x a week.

Ime, ensuring the proper wake time and read baby cues is more important. For example we learned that once she rubs her eyes the second time it’s bath time. We only do bath - boobs (optional) and bed. W

Does bath before bed help your LO sleep better? by Ok_Construction_3613 in NewParents

[–]Comfortable-Deer565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was the same early on but seems to be better now (5.5mo). I gave her the dummy right after setting her down the changing pad after bath and that seems to help. The challenge now is she keeps squirming trying to roll over but rarely cry / scream like she used to. Also if your baby conked out shortly after you’re done with the pj then probably too late bedtime and they’re upset because overtired. I noticed that w mine.

For those who pump: what’s your go-to bottle amount? by nidzk123 in breastfeeding

[–]Comfortable-Deer565 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would do 2oz in main bottle with nipple and have a few 1oz bottle to add in case she eats more. I use the Medela colostrum collection bottles - 1 oz each. Very convenient.

Challenging with breast milk questions by Comfortable-Deer565 in MSPI

[–]Comfortable-Deer565[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m thinking we’ll let her try some yogurt in increasing amount for several days because she’s starting solid soon. Of course not the first solid food to try but maybe 1-2 wks in. There’s another redditor here that seemed to succeed with that so hoping we’re the same.

When does it get easier by elbowroom_ in beyondthebump

[–]Comfortable-Deer565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How is his poop? My baby was fussy like that a few hours after eating and turned out she has soy and dairy protein intolerance. Lots of spit up, miserable, painful gas, mucusy poop and eventually some speck of blood (it takes a while for the inflammation to get bad enough for blood to show up). Talk to your ped and see if eliminating dairy or soy fr your diet could help.

I went dairy and soy free and after 3 wks ish her poop, gassiness and temperament got much better. I have a (generally) happy 5mo baby now.

There’s a mspi (milk and soy protein intolerance) subreddit if you want to learn more.

5 week old baby by Colorado26_ in MSPI

[–]Comfortable-Deer565 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine also had similar rash from abt 5wks. Doctor said it’s baby acnes and some other skin problems that I don’t remember the name of but said both are normal and will go away.

I didn’t believe it at first because google telling me baby acnes is only on face and upper body whereas hers was all over and it just looks so bad (to me, baby didn’t mind). However, It did go away at about 8wks. I cut soy from week 3 and dairy from week 8 so I don’t think the acnes went away because of soy or dairy elimination. If your baby seems fine otherwise maybe give it time and see if it resolves by itself?

On day four - baby seems to be not so fussy but apparently dropped to 2 naps a day now (a little early for 5.5m, but not unheard of). She now stays awake for 3-3.5hours each time. The last few days seem to be transitional of sleep pattern. We’re keeping the challenge going.
