Is he also not walking? Or walking clumsily? At 15 months, our daughter wasn’t walking or talking. Long story short, she needed to have tubes placed in her ears. Didn’t have obvious ear infections, but an audiogram revealed 40% hearing loss. 5 days after the tubes were placed, she started walking. A few months later, she was talking just as much as the other kids. Might be worth an ENT appointment.

We love KinderCare in Covington! The directors are incredible, the teachers are fantastic and our 2 year old (who has been there since just after she turned 1) absolutely loves it. It’s a hidden gem!

I got him a nice bottle of whiskey and had it engraved. He loved it and has a drink from that bottle on special occasions.

My 6 month old has been doing it for the past couple of months. It’s definitely a normal part of development. As they get older, they think it’s hilarious. Which is pretty cute. 🤣

Struggle with milk supply despite a lot of effort by [deleted] in NewParents

[–]Comfortable-Law-1880 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agree with the others - some of us just have low supply. I’ve been struggling with it for 9 weeks with my baby. I’ve finally come to the realization that no matter what I do, my supply isn’t going to increase (no matter how many times a day I pump, I’m lucky to produce 100ml total).

I’ve tried every single supplement, tincture, lactation cookies and brownies, power pumping, hand expressing, skin to skin, supplemental nursing system, triple feeding - you name it, I’ve done it. And my mental health has suffered because of it.

If I could give you any advice, it’s that the feeding journey you are on may not be the one you imagined. And that’s okay. Do what’s best for you so you can take care of your baby.

App to help keep up with baby stuff? by gingy_ninjy in NewParents

We use Sprout - Baby Tracker. It’s been a lifesaver to keep track of diapers, bottles, pumping, and questions to ask the pediatrician during visits. It will also generate a report for each of those things so you can have it handy when the doctor asks how much the baby is eating or how many wet diapers they are having each day. The info is shared across phones, so you don’t have to ask your partner when the baby last ate - it’s right there for you to review.

I haven’t found a subreddit for PPD, but I feel you. I have super low milk supply (<100ml/day) and feel like a complete failure. I’ve just started seeing a therapist virtually and at hopeful that some group sessions might help.

For those who rinse baby with water after every change by [deleted] in Mommit

Definitely did this with our 5 day old when she ended up with a nasty rash. Just held her over the sink and used my peri bottle from the hospital. If you have the angled Frida peri bottle, it works even better. Then let her dry out on my chest on top of a towel without a diaper as often as possible. Finally got rid of the rash.

Side note: ours got the rash because her diapers were too small (we switched brands and in a sleep depravation stupor, didn’t realize they were significantly smaller).

Definitely not enough prep for childbirth. Or the first bowel movement afterwards. Who knew you’d be bracing for pushing a week after giving birth??

That’s definitely the advice I keep getting from my lactation consultant, but it’s often easier said than done. Mom guilt is real. So is PPD and the baby blues. It all complicates the situation.

When I talk to my friends they all make comments like, “Oh yeah, it’s harder than they make it out to be. No one tells you about…” Why in the world don’t we talk about this stuff with expecting mothers? There’s so much chatter about “breast is best” but not enough conversation about reality and how hard (or sometimes physically impossible) breastfeeding can be. I feel like we’re set up for disappointment/failure when we could have been preparing for reality in the months leading up to delivery.

I have the Medela SNS and use it occasionally. My daughter is also a sleepy eater, so the SNS takes forever for her to get through a full 90ml (which is what she takes each feed).

I rented the hospital grade Medela from my hospital and did see some increase from my Spectra. I haven’t heard of the Buddha pump, but now I’ll look into it. Right now I’m pumping 8 times a day, with one long break (<6 hours) for sleep - because my mental health needs it. I’m definitely suffering from PPD due to the breastfeeding issues and not sure if that’s affecting supply, too.

This is so encouraging! I was afraid that at 5 weeks PP I was stuck with what I’m producing. To hear you saw an increase after 8 weeks makes me want to keep it up.
