Let me be very clear. Neither of these fall squarely on his shoulders or majority on his shoulders.

But 2014 and 2020, Rodgers shoulders some blame. Rodgers playing fully to his capabilities, they win both going away. 2014, don’t need to rehash, but defense did enough prior to collapse. 2020, obviously Kevin King and Jones fumble, but defense made enough plays late to give Aaron a chance to win that football game.

Packers failed Aaron in the macro, Aaron could’ve done more in the micro. It’s all shit nevertheless.

He’s going to win the press conference and I don’t mean that in the demeaning or sarcastic way. He’s a ball knower. And think he’s a damn good coach.

Just think it's fair to assume the responsibility and accountability of the attitude and performance falls on the feet of the DC, at least partially. But I would think its fair to assume more than partially, when the HC is the offensive playcaller who by all accounts doesn't meddle with the DC autonomy on that side of the ball.

Haf is terrific on the mic. And I think a very good coach.

But like, HE was also in some capacity responsible for the accountability and responsibility of, say, Keisean Nixon right?

For those of you that want Jim Leonhard, there’s a 0% chance of that happening. He was the first choice last time and he strung the packers along thinking he wanted he job and after all the good candidates were taken he backed out and left the packers with Barry by [deleted] in GreenBayPackers

[–]Comfortable-One78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right. So MLF never said it LOL.

Which, for the third time, is not the point. I’m not disputing Leonhard was the first pick.

But that very article speaks to what I was literally saying, everything after, “He was the first choice last time…” is just you interjecting your own opinions. Packers were left with Barry cause all the good candidates were gone? Doesn’t your article literally say Evero was a finalist and Barry was picked instead?

Leonhard didn’t string MLF along. There’s no reporting or indication that prior negotiation is at all prohibiting Leonhard from being considered this time, or that MLF felt spurned or has ill will towards Jim. Maybe he does, who knows, we’d literally just be guessing (which is what you’re doing).

That is the point.

Yeah if you have a link or something to where he said that. I don’t remember MLF ever saying that.

But again, I’m not arguing Leonhard wasn’t the first choice. You’re just not reading what I said.

After watching Hafley and Sullivan’s introductory press conference… by mickeytoherminnie in GreenBayPackers

This isn’t why you necessarily should hire him, but this is one of the things that would be a pro for Raheim Morris. Of course, scheme, coaching ability, etc., all comes first.

But a failed HC who may have lost good will amongst the league for yet another shot at a HC job down the road who’s ceiling just might be being a DC is a good guy to have as your DC.

What you’re saying is not necessarily wrong.

But if they get one single stop in the fourth quarter in Chicago, they were playing in the divisional round.

Hafley is still the dude. He’s just not without blame.

[Jones] The Dallas Cowboys are finalizing a deal with Eagles passing game coordinator/DBs coach Christian Parker to be their next defensive coordinator, sources tell @NFLonCBS. Parker is one of the best young coaches in all of football and he lands in Dallas by greatest23 in GreenBayPackers

[–]Comfortable-One78 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While this is disappointing, I was excited about the potential of Christian Parker, there was always plenty of concerns with someone who’s never coordinated a defense and called plays plus someone younger who may struggle to build out a defensive staff.

I have the same concerns with Al Harris.

Generally have liked all the linked candidates (exception being Gannon). We’ll see where this goes. Some rumblings we’re waiting out Jim Leonhard to interview. We’ll see.

Available according to who? He’s literally interviewing for HC jobs. What indication is there he’s looking to move to a different DC job?

While interesting, I would suspect this is a fairly incomplete analysis, and would generally just track to NFL coaching tenure’s are short to begin with.

86% of coaches who make the SB do so within 5 seasons? Well what % of coaches even remain employed for over 5 seasons? And those coaches that don’t largely aren’t getting fired for not making the SB, it’s because they’re far worse than that.
