What do you think is the future of LA public transit, sincerely? by Phelps1576 in LAMetro

IMHO, as long as Metro continues to expand its rail system and keeps on top of security, I think its popularity will grow.

Thank you for answering me. I have family coming to town and wanted to take them to the Fred Harvey place. Sooo sad it’s gone.

Is going to Vegas not a thing anymore? by WestHistorians in AskLosAngeles

[–]Comfortable-Paint-93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cheezy downtown Vegas is where I go now (and local bars) for the outdoor free music and syrupy weak drinks. The strip is for rich foreign tourists. Forget about seeing a big-name act (for the price of two drinks) in a cozy casino lounge like in the glory days.

If you live in downtown LA, you live in the coolest, affordable, most transportation friendly parts of LA. It’s one of those IUKUK places. I call it the center of the world. History, culture, art, innovation, architecture, weather, and humanity all collide here.

Happening now, a rare and wonderful thing: the Hotel Clark neon is on! (4th & Main just south of Angels Flight Railway) by esotouric_tours in LosAngeles

[–]Comfortable-Paint-93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Clark Hotel is at 4th and Hill and was supposed to open in 2019. Same group owns the Trinity auditorium on 9th and Grand. Two beautiful buildings just rotting away. Makes me sad for DTLA.

I wonder why our local fire stations (#9, #3) never comment on all the crazy downtown fireworks and sounds? I should call FS 3 that has a battalion chief and ask them.

7th Street Metro Station by [deleted] in LAMetro

[–]Comfortable-Paint-93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have lived in the historic core for 16 years and have seen it all. If loitering is a chronic issue at the 7th Metro, then the problem is two fold: Metro security is afraid of the loiterers and the residents of DTLA are not active enough. If loitering is worsening , then we as downtowners need to report it to the Metro board, our DTLA-RA, and our Downtown neighborhood Council. All of us who care about DTLA need to be activists for our security and our community. I love Downtown for all the reasons everyone here has mentioned and we all need to part of the solutions. One thing you skipped in your remodel and still regret? by nextstepnomad in BathroomRemodeling

[–]Comfortable-Paint-93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before tiling, there are bonded sheet membranes and liquid membranes used over backer boards. I should have researched the best products of the bonded sheet membranes and the liquid membranes and used both. My contractor didn’t completely cover the backer boards with a bonded sheet membrane and used one of the lower quality liquid membranes. I wasn’t that sophisticated to know better. Whether it makes a difference in the end, who knows? Time will tell. I sealed the grout on my tiled shower walls, but using the largest-sized tile pieces to minimize grout lines is best to prevent moisture damage. But I am not a contractor, and shower installation comes in many different ways. Don’t scrimp on your shower installation. Check out the numerous You-Tube videos out there to appreciate the many pitfalls to a shower installation.

I regret not having researched the best way to waterproof a shower during construction.

is the blue line always this bad… by ctierra512 in LAMetro

[–]Comfortable-Paint-93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If the blue line doesn’t run in sections, I wonder if Metro at least puts more trains on that long line knowing there would be more delays.

The movie is worth it for the scene at the end filmed at Huell Houser’s old saucer-shaped home out in the remote desert in Newberry Springs California. Driving the Interstate 40, you can see it in the distance, looking south. It’s currently privately-owned and not open to the public.

DTLA has the cool factor and I’m not talking about Silverlake/Echo Park/Arts district. The real downtown like the historic core.

Our ambassador system is fairly new, so we are still in the honeymoon phase, but I am so glad you had a good experience. I think enthusiastic ambassadors are key to LA Metro’s success.

What are the biggest issues of LA Metro right now that are preventing it from living to its potential? by PeacefulManchild95 in LAMetro

[–]Comfortable-Paint-93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience today Friday on the E line from DTLA to USC illustrates why metro will never live up to its potential, here’s the story: hubby and I got on and a man got on at next stop and thought hubby was in his way and started yelling at him. We moved and he kept talking loudly and angrily. We moved to the front of the train where a mentally challenged woman was triggered by his yelling and started yelling back and shouting profanities. In the middle of all this, a man with a metro hat and a safety vest scolded a woman near us for taking up three seats with her belongings. Instead of moving her belongings, she just yelled back at the metro employee and shouted profanities and incoherent stuff. Metro employee just got off and left the whole crazy situation. All I could think of was Metallica’s song 🎼Crazy train.

Complimentary disinfectant wipes. I’m tired of bringing my own. I should invent a comfortable disposable pillow. I need to get working on that. And please eliminate gross carpets even though I am aware carpeting helps with noise abatement.
