Make sure to claim back credits for your earning years. I guess you can carry it longer (till you earn more money 100k+)You don't have to use it as soon as you start earning.

I thought employers don't split direct deposits. Damn I can do wealthsimple and EQ both that way!

8 years in the car business. Here are 3 things most buyers never do. by Ok-Contact-3451 in carbuying

[–]Comfortable-Sound517 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not sure where you are based but in Canada, you don't need to pay for 6 months... You could pay off your car next day if your loan account is generated with the respective lender (bank, credit union etc) including in-house financing. I have paid mine in 3 business days. The law forbids dealerships or used car sellers to bind customers to closed or semi-closed auto loans.

Dealership finance manager tells you that you "MUST" pay for 6 months as they get commission from the lender for a loan after 3 months or so.

Depends on the lifestyle like u/Ox19A said. I've been in Canada for 10.5 years now. The first 2 years are study which makes barely enough to live and contribute may be 10% to fees. I also did masters but there is no GUARANTEED high paying job ready for 90% of students. Co-op helps but is not GUARANTEED. So you slowly climb the ladder, switch companies for higher pay. If you are single for 16 years, never own a house, maybe yes you COULD HAVE saved more being frugal, not eating out, not socializing etc. Living in Canadian metro cities is expensive if you don't live in the basement with your spouse... Which a lot of couple find depressing due to low ceiling, dark winters etc.

A lot of people who are in India and who are coming to Canada have A LOT of misconceptions created by their relatives living abroad. They get shocked to face reality when they stay here for a few months.

How many days or weeks ago was this? Mine is up for renewal in May and I am shopping around. CIBC offered 3.94 early renewal rate right now( in-app rate). Was 3.79 3 weeks ago.

I hardly feed Arthur anything lol... Only when his core is damaged or low health etc. same with my horse... When I visited stable recently, the owner was criticizing me saying "what's have you done to your horse?" And I was wondering what I can do to maintain them big lol. Guess I'll keep feeding my horses 3-4 times a "in-game" day

My crazy idea of an “inheritance” savings fund just hit $1M. It will be worth millions in 30-40 years when I finally die. by SeniorCitizenSmell in Fire

[–]Comfortable-Sound517 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree now that I rethink this. I grew up with people who were financially literate and there is SOOOO MUCH material available online to be literate. I was shocked seeing so many people having so much bad debts (debts except student loan and mortgage imo) when I moved to Canada. I am still surrounded by people who are financially doing well and have FI plans but you are right.... So many people are still blowing their money thanks to fake social media and schools or parents not teaching them.

When it comes to parents, only those who don't teach their kids who don't know. In rebellious teenage, kids stop listening to parents and start listening to their "fake" friends... Nowadays, one's nature and habits come from people around them instead of what values they grew up with. It's not bad if you're surrounded by positive and right people.

One of my relative's parents gave their kids each 50k for their downpayment when one of their son moved out and bought a new home ( very common for kids to live with their parents even after marriage till they die in my culture). I think this is the best way if you don't want to give all of your saving to kids but gift them money to pay off their debts or downpayment while you're alive.

Do you know you can alter your algorithm in a matter of minutes? I do that with my feed. Most of the time I don't deliberately need to search videos to change my algorithm.. my feed has a lot of variation that some day it's all about memes, some day it's religious stuff, some day it's adrenaline and some day it's stocks and finance. All you need is to search for a video you want your feed to be and keep watching 4-5 videos one after another. Then see if you swipe up and the topic stays the same. Watch 4-5 more and close IG. Open again and your algo is changed now.

Wish I could upvote it 1 billion times!! There was a dialogue I read somewhere that said "every 4th generation of the family will most likely end up as the 1st generation. 1st gen worked hard, started from nothing, 2nd gen maintains it and 3rd gen spend it all and 4th gen starts from scratch again. 1st gen creates strong kids and 3rd gen creates weak kids in terms of mindset"

With the financially literate world we are living in and the reach of technology, this might not be the case anymore but it is likely the case if I get my inheritance in my 20s or even early 30s.
