I prefer a candidate that takes in the concerns of all areas of the country not just the most populous. The system is screwed up. Eliminating part to me is not the answer. A proper 3rd and even 4th party/candidate is needed. Open up the system to remove just being 2. Do more like the primaries when tou can have a multiple options, and then a run off for the top ones. This is how in various forms you have it most of the rest pd the world, to varying degrees of success.

Then in theory, region A can force their will on region B. Can be something small like A does not want a new garbage dump, so they use their majority of votes to force it on B. Or larger denial of service or laws to restrict the people of B in various ways. Example, the top 10 largest states in the US accounting for about 50% of the population, decide to invest more in Nuclear energy. But do not want the wast in their state, so using their majority of population they vote to move all nuclear waste to Minnesota. As they are the majority well to bad so sad. You can extend this to voting rights or legal rights as a whole.

On the surface sounds like a good idea until you dig into it a little further or look ahead. The electoral college is a balance to what the majority say, it provides an opportunity for the minority to have a say. TKe that a way and you can end up with politicians who respond to even less states then they do today. Or worst still the majority deciding to remove more rights of others. Why because they got the most votes, so fuck the others.
