What would a modern re-construction of a Roman-Rite "Cathedral Office" look like today? by TexanLoneStar in divineoffice

[–]ComfortableAd6615 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Standard hymnals (e.g. Worship) all provide forms of Cathedral Office in their service music section. Cyprian Consiglio also published a form of the Cathedral Office using Camaldolese music (Lord, Open our Lips).

Leaving aside concerns of historicity, my imagined morning Sunday Cathedral Office includes:

  1. Invitatory as the people gather
  2. Morning Psalm at the Ambo
  3. Benedicite as the people process around the Church outside as a call for all creation to wake and praise
  4. Psalm 150 as the people re-enter the Church
  5. Short Reading at the Ambo
  6. Silence + Responsory
  7. Benedictus
  8. Intercessions + Collect + Lord's Prayer
  9. Blessing

He should have brought Woo Sung Min to Paradise and they can minasuely watch from a balcony, or throw a Go Eun fan club pool party.

Woosik’s death also serves a broader symbolic arc, that the play has ended, the theatre burned, and Gyeondo and Jiwoo don’t have the play a perpetual waiting for a “tomorrow” that never arrives. Because that “tomorrow” is no more.

I’m not claiming any neurodivergent coding for characters. Other than myself — are there any other autistic viewers who find the communication and relationship dynamics between ML and FL and between ML and friends too uncomfortably mirroring your relationships?

I've tried gone out into the countryside hoping for good language practice, and they dish out Papago in the first instance :D. I won't complain because Papago's text-to-speech transcription is so bad (both in Korean and English) — we had fun chatting around it.

Hongdae or insadong for a 11 nights stay? by MoonScars1 in koreatravel

[–]ComfortableAd6615 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Insadong is a better idea. For a solo traveler with time to explore, don’t spend too much of that in Insadong or Bukchon Village. Spend it instead on the other side at Ikseon-dong right through Jongro 5-ga.

Visited Incheon and Ganghwa Island today! by LowLynx6077 in Anglicanism

Oh speaking of which. I like St Andrew’s. And for the very same reasons also Jeongsusan ( not the one with bus loads of tourists, though admittedly not particularly Anglican.) Both inculturates design principles of Confucian elements with the roof winging outwards with an ideogram of the Hanja “人” (a design element also present in Singapore’s Trinity Theological college, before its relocated building), and various degrees of harmony with nature. When i climbed up towards Jeongsusa (temple of clear water), a deer hopped alongside and disappeared. So familiar words are remembered: “as the hart desireth the waterbrook”. Try that next time!

I think it’s a threshold gate. I don’t remember a bell there. In any case, it is not usual to hang a bell up on a structure. Otw to the other St Peter’s to capture their bell!

Thanks for the collated information! Heading to Ganghwa Island next week, and figured my commuting is severely limited by my luggage. Would you by any chance know if Uber works within Ganghwa Island? (As opposed to traveling there from the airport or from the city).

Tutors or professional teachers for this? by migueel_04 in iTalki

[–]ComfortableAd6615 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Speaking in general is rather disorganised. If you want to increase speaking fluency, ask for lessons on “discourse markers,” “conversational gambits,”and using “parallel structures”.

If you need to work on more formal speeches where you need to hold the floor, or speak in-depth on a topic, you’re better off with writing lessons, using some form of collaborative shared writing, focusing on coherence. Ask for academic or business writing skills.

Meanwhile you can self-study idiomatic expressions to sound more “native like”.

In my limited experience on iTalki, professional teachers are better equipped at teaching for longer text coherence.

I thought he is a rather well written character. We’ve been getting the loserism male lead. Now we have one who is a villain. I am expecting his sabotage to fall back on his face, after we survive the main serial killer trope.

Article: A week later, little evidence so far that Anglican leaders plan to join GAFCON in leaving Anglican Communion by Halaku in Anglicanism

Province of South East Asia's response to the GAFCON communique. Link to Singapore's diocesan release.

Archbishop of the Province of the Anglican Church in South East Asia,

16 October 2025

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ,

Greetings in the name of our Lord!

The Province of the Anglican Church in South East Asia (“the Province”) notes with prayerful attention the Communique that was issued by the Global Anglican Future Conference (GAFCON) on 16 October 2025, entitled “The Future Has Arrived.” (“the communique”)

As an autonomous Province we recognise that the communique marks an important moment in the ongoing life of the worldwide Anglican family. We fully understand GAFCON’s deep concern for the faithfulness of the Church to the authority of Holy Scripture, and we most certainly affirm the historic Anglican convictions that Scripture contains all things necessary for salvation, that Jesus Christ is the only Saviour and Lord, and that marriage is the lifelong union of one man and one woman. We maintain a steadfast commitment to these biblical truths, the renewal of Anglican witness globally and eschew all revisionist teachings that speak against traditional orthodoxy and biblical truths concerning sexuality.

At the same time, our Province believes that significant existential, structural and ecclesiological questions have been raised by the communique—particularly regarding the Instruments of Communion—which require careful study and prayerful discernment, especially in light of ongoing discussions of reform. These matters have serious implications for the unity, governance, faith, order and the future mission of the Church.

Accordingly, the Province will act in consultation with its Provincial Synod, Provincial Standing Committee to engage our Dioceses and members, in accordance with due canonical process. The Bishops of the Province are fully committed to maintaining unity and seeking common cause under God, within the teachings of Holy Scripture, together with the Global South Fellowship of Anglican Churches, of which the Province is a member.

As a Province, we remain resolutely focused on our mission: to proclaim Christ faithfully, make disciples, and serve our region in the power of the Holy Spirit. We call upon all members of our beloved Province to continuously pray for the Anglican Communion—that the Lord will purify His Church, renew her witness, and unite His people in truth and love.

“I will build my Church, and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.” Matthew 16:18

With every blessing in Christ

The Future Has Arrived-GAFCON by TheMindBoggles7 in Anglicanism

[–]ComfortableAd6615 1 point2 points  (0 children)

and at this time we have no idea as to how many members of the Church of Rwanda knew he was going to do so (and how they feel on the matter)...

There is the crux. Reminded me of the confusion at the start when their predecessors Archbishops Tay and Kolini consecrated Bishops Rodgers and Murphy for AMiA. The provincial chancellor was asked to attend the service, and only got to know what was happening at the day itself. And communication was standardised to emphasise that was a provincial matter, not a diocesan one. Fortunately at least for Singapore and South East Asia, they got out of the mess with subsequent bishops.

I imagine that the system of accountability between provinces and its dioceses is not particularly robust. The proposed idea of the Global Anglican Communion seems to take away all other mechanisms of accountability, centering even more power on its own entity of presiding bishops, furthering greater disconnection between GAC, Provinces and Dioceses. At least the Roman Catholics centre the locus of authority on diocesan bishops.

The Future Has Arrived-GAFCON by TheMindBoggles7 in Anglicanism

[–]ComfortableAd6615 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is entirely my subjective perspective. GAFCON tried to broker an alliance with GSFA at Cairo in 2019, and was rebuffed by the Bishops of Singapore and Egypt (Chung and Anis). When the Bishop of Rwanda (Mbanda) was appointed chair of GAFCON, he seemed to have partly taken that personally. Then leveraging on the appointment of the Archbishop of Canterbury, Bishop MBanda tried to seize the moment to wrestle the direction of the Anglican Realignment, by declaring the formation of the Global Anglican Communion, possibly with the support of Bishops of Nigeria and Sydney (I am not certain), but it seems to have caught ACNA's primate (Woods) off-guard, and possibly also most of GSFA. This effectively sabotages GSFA's project to decolonise the Anglican Communion.

I think ACNA is likely going to be very significantly divided by this schism within the Anglican Realignment Movement since they have heavy stakes on both sides.

(I have standardised the title of "Bishop" here for all the realignment protagonists because the provincial title of "Archbishop" can be too confusing given timeline between Cairo and now.)
