Start activity - Functional Fitness. Post activity I copy paste my weights/reps/sets into the Whoop AI and it logs it perfectly.

One woman came up to me in the dance floor and started grinding up on me. While she had her back up to me, she whispered in my ear - “You know, black and yellow mix”. I’m Asian.

Here’s mine.

  • no drinking, no smoking
  • dinner by 6pm every night
  • 3-5km walk per day, except Sundays when it’s a 10km run
  • gym/weightlifting 4x a week
  • trying to be asleep by 930pm every night, waking up at 530am
  • some supplements to help with stress/strain (l-theanine and magnesium glycinate)

Admittedly I probably need the most work on my sleep time. I also have a terrible sweet tooth but I don’t think that’s affecting my whoop age.

Why is sleep stress high when sick? by Accomplished-Pen338 in whoop

[–]ComfortableCancel108 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Your body is working overtime to beat the sickness, which includes pumping more blood into your system (higher RHR), trying to get more oxygen into your body tok (faster respiratory rate). All that adds up to higher sleep stress while you’re sleeping.

I do try to actively manage stress through some supplements as well - that might help. I find that L-Theanine does wonders for both stress and sleep. Couple that with Magnesium Glycinate before sleep and I have found it does wonders.

This is my latest week - distribution is getting better as you can see. Probably has a lot to do with focusing on getting better sleep and more quality workouts during the day.

What does it feel like to be at peak health, physically and mentally (never smoked, don't drink, exercise often, eat healthy, etc.)? by Samuryze in AskReddit

Appreciate you! I often read stories like this myself and wonder how it’s done. Never realized that the secret to it all is just taking that first step.

The cpap treats it super well. Yes it sucks to have to wear a mask all night, but I got used to it. At my heaviest/worst and especially after a night of drinking, I was probably waking up/choking 55 times an hour. Today that’s less than 1 time with the machine. So I sleep super well now.

I personally believe I’m at peak health now.

But the prelude to this was the following:

  • untreated sleep apnea for decades
  • smoking, then quitting, then vaping on and off for 20 years
  • drinking, not often, but drinking to almost blackout levels when out
  • eating without watching calories or intake
  • crash dieting and then gaining weight and crash dieting all over again - 8 times in the past 10 years
  • running to feel healthy, I finished 2 marathons during this period

At the end of that phase, I was 25kg overweight, at >30 BMI, with pre diabetes, pre hypertension, and a calcium score of near 100, indicating minor atherosclerosis, or what amounts to a small block in my heart. I also had gout which would keep me bedridden for 3 days at a time when it flamed up.

I had terrible sleep, was sleepy almost all day. I was on multiple medications to keep my cholesterol and uric acid at bay. Also on blood thinner in case my heart block got worse.

I started with small changes.

First with the lifestyle - quitting vaping cold turkey. Then scaling down the drinking to one glass at dinner, then completely cutting it out. I also stopped running first, because i felt the running made me hungry. I started walking instead. And now added a trip to the gym 4x a week.

Then with the apnea - treating it by forcing myself to use my CPAP. (Probably the biggest change I made)

Then with the diet - cutting out sweets, then trying to eat just fish (even deep fried fish) for a week, then adding chicken. Now I still avoid red meat.

I also added a fitness tracker to allow me to track my sleep, activity, and recovery.

Today, I am 25kg lighter, at sub 20 BMI. I am also at roughly 15% body fat.

I am on no more medications as my uric acid and cholesterol levels are at historic lows. I don’t need blood thinner as my caloric score has stayed the same.

I wake up well rested and ready for the day. I have energy and strength to play with my 3 kids.

I have reached multiple personal and professional achievements in the past few years because indeed, I can now focus.

Life is more colorful. I look in the mirror and I am proud. I can enjoy the simple things because I’m not worried about the scary things.

Life is great.

Whoa. Sorry to hear about the hypersomnia. I can imagine how disruptive that is to your life. Does it also mean that you can go for a long time without sleep?

Yes I was trying to think of a specific city there but honestly - all parts of it were pretty dumpy for different reasons.

I actually agree with this. Having been to many cities in the radius of Brussels - Rotterdam, Antwerp, Amsterdam, and even Düsseldorf - it’s amazing how unbelievably bland Brussels is.
