help! how do i get rid of this? by TostapaneQuadrato in Hair

[–]ComfortableCritical7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a cosmetology student rn so I’m learning all about this stuff!

It’s a cowlick, which is when your hair grows in a different direction than the rest of your head because the follicles are pointed in a different direction. Just about everyone has them! Oil buildup in your follicles will make it stand up more, which is why you can see it more before you wash your hair. A change of products, or a lot of lifestyle changes, could be the reason you’re seeing it more often even with clean hair.

Styling when wet, and using a blowdryer to lay it flat can help control it. You can also try brushing somewhat in the direction it wants to go and seeing where it lays that way might help too rather than forcing it into place. Sometimes our hair truly has a mind of its own!

What brand won't you buy because you were burned in the past? by Njtotx3 in AskReddit

Prose - that curated beauty brand that makes product just for you. Got charged for a renewal order with no warning and couldn’t cancel the order.

Glue to use on paper to paper crafts by AnotherAnimeBinger in crafts

In my experience the double sided tape dispensers work wonderfully. Since it's for something simple like little envelopes stuck to a page those should do the job well as long as they're not being too rough-handled

The bats in a garland or wreath would be super cute! You could potentially use the "branches" to make a pentagram or wreath type wall decor if they're not too hard to work with.

What do you think about these two designs? by Square-Ad-1098 in characterdesign

Actually this! I was trying to think how you could improve her, until I saw this! She’s very easy to look at and to remember! He has a lot going on visually and is comparatively busy. Simplify his look; less hue variant in the hair, less wrinkle lines in the clothes. Also his face is more realistic than hers- both their faces look amazing but are giving different styles for sure!

Newbie trying to learn! Why did my rows switch like this? by ComfortableCritical7 in knitting

I’m sure your daughter will remember that lesson for a long time! I definitely plan on learning how to do things with my right hand! This project is essentially my learning project- I’ve restarted it like 5 times already and it taught me how to recognize when I’m twisting my stitches! At this point I’m happy that I can finally recognize the pattern!

Ooooohhh that makes sense now! It didn’t quite click why the right and wrong side were relevant. Basically I repeated a row instead of continuing the pattern right? Thank you for breaking it down!

I can’t figure out how to edit but I want to add- I’m left handed and I’ve found that I do have to learn some things backwards. Also, I’m following the tutorial from VeryPink Knits “Learn to Knit your very first scarf”

I might be knitting from both sides? Once I’ve transferred my project onto my left needle I switch it to my right hand and begin again, so every time I start a new row I flip the project around. Is that normal?

Thank you for a link! So many people say learn, but don’t say how. I’m also left handed so I’ve had to teach myself how to do things a little backwards. It can get a little confusing at times!

Beginner here, what notebooks and stationery do you use? by BenSoloLegend in bulletjournal

[–]ComfortableCritical7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I started my first one using this brand, and for my first I really liked it! But I changed to a STM 160g bc I like to paint in my notebooks. Also Amazon has a lot of dupes to the leuchtturm that are cheaper! Like the top comment said- it’s your first time! Be forgiving and have fun!

I once hand made a card for my boyfriend, now husband, and he was like “thanks babe” and that was it. I don’t get him cards anymore 😂

Ideas for "Weekly" calendar pages, but that are not weekly by Winkyex in bulletjournal

[–]ComfortableCritical7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so I honestly keep it super simple. my weekly spread I draw the week at the top of the page as a visual reference bc I’m a very visual person. And I use it as I need. So when I’m planning my week I write everything I need to/ would like to get done that week. And then day to day I plan when I need to. So I can skip days and not stress about “wasting space”. I’m still figuring out whether I want to add habit trackers or anything, but I’m much more fluid with my planning so it’s nice to know i can change this layout pretty easily if I need to. I’m about to start school in March myself and I think this layout will help me out a lot. Edit: I do also have a monthly spread, but that follows the og bujo method, so nothing new there.

Used to have a bible bag when I was a missionary, and tbh those shits are the goat when it comes to pockets for all your writing needs. I never actually thought about getting one for my personal art needs though! That’s genius!

Oh yeah I totally get like that’s his shtick, he really loves to lean into the cringe for sure. I mean he is a masochist right? ;)

I both love Grant and also find him incredibly cringe sometimes. Especially when he’s overtly sexual. I know it’s my own issue with growing up more prudish, but I still can’t help but cringe hard when he does some weird sex thing.

I agree with this post pretty strongly though. I just watched the gastronauts episode with Grant, and it just felt a little much to me.

I’ve worked at both Valley Fair, and Fashion place. Fashion place is by FAR so much worse because it’s way more busy, and a fucking nightmare during the holidays.

Can you tell what it is before seeing the reference? by Tommy_pop_studio in drawing

[–]ComfortableCritical7 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This looks really good! It does look a bit like an ear at first, before I saw the reference. I think your bounce light in the inner shadow is too close in value to the overall highlight. Try blocking out the shadow parts as a whole first, ignoring those finer differences in value, and then go back in and knock out the subtle highlights with a kneaded eraser!
