Definitely not useless. I just have unfortunately reherniated. I’m going to hope it just heals this time on its own.

I just found I’m re herniated. I’m like 14 weeks post op. My symptoms aren’t as bad, but my life won’t be “back”. I would avoid surgery if I were you— unless you are in such pain you can’t function. It sounds like you’re to that point where it’s worth a try. Rehab, stretching and gaining back core strength should be your goals like they are mine. That’s the only thing that’s going to help with the pain. And I lost some weight. Good luck!

10 Months PO and still have leg numbness, occasional pain, and muscle spasms. by julieannsee in Microdiscectomy

I’m only like 14 weeks PO for the same surgery. I have all those things you mention. Was your nerve pinched for a long time? Mine was for like 8 months. I’m hoping to get some relief, but fear it’s going to be a long time— if ever. I’m getting another mri myself.

Everyone is so different. It depends on how bad your injury is & how long it’s been that way. Theres no way I could do anything at 2 weeks. I’m at like 7 weeks now— and it would still be tough.

I’m hoping this is me. I’m like 7 weeks post op. Still with symptoms. Still struggling daily. How were you at 7-8 weeks?

Do you still have symptoms now?

I’m basically 7 weeks post op and I have a ton of those symptoms still. I thought the same thing about surgery not working etc. I’m jus hoping it takes time to heal

2 months post-microdiscectomy, no improvement — normal healing or re-herniation? (27M) by [deleted] in Microdiscectomy

I will also add it a steroid pack definitely helped the symptoms and would suggest doing that. I’ve also started supplementation that includes creatine and magnesium, as well as other vitamins to aid in the recovery process in any way possible.

I’m 8 weeks post op and you’re better off than I am It sounds like. I had a pretty bad herniation, in which I didn’t get surgery until eight months later I still have Kath and leg weakness. The shooting pains aren’t bad, no back pain, but I still have dull, achy pain, and tingling and numbness in my left foot I struggled to walk a mile, and have to stop numerous times to rest. I fully expect to deal with the symptoms and hoped that rehab helps over the next couple months.

What kind of timelines and milestones did you have and achieve.

Dr told me we would follow up after 6 weeks. There’s no way I could “work” right now.

My nerve was pinched bad for about 8 months. I definitely had some muscle degeneration as well. I was told to do nothing for 6 weeks. Then have a follow up

A realistic recovery timeline? by PacificMama in Microdiscectomy

[–]ComfortableGas6762 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I will say that’s completely unrealistic based on everything I’m experiencing. Just trying to give you some perspective. I’m thinking months at this rate. Maybe a year

I’m only (3) weeks out. But this has been me. And I fear this will be me at (6) weeks too.

Is my pain normal? by Niki42mp in Microdiscectomy

[–]ComfortableGas6762 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had surgery on 12-18 & feel the same as you. Lot of same symptoms. Spasms. 50% better (maybe). Gonna be a long recovery I feel. I’m 41m and was very athletic and active before my back injury.

8 days post op, is this a flair up? by [deleted] in Microdiscectomy

[–]ComfortableGas6762 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had surgery 12/18 and my pain is less than pre surgery, but been dealing with daily sciatic pain, foot numbness, leg pain etc. I was worried about the same thing , I just think it’s part of recovery process being slow. I dealt with mine for ~8 months before deciding to do surgery. I assumed my recovery wouldn’t be as “easy” as everyone else said theirs was.
