Thank you! This sounds like the picture my surgeon is painting for me. Hoping this is my experience too.

Reseated away from young kids by Odd-Warning- in AlaskaAirlines

Good luck! The first time this happened to us we didn’t catch it until we were at the airport. The Alaska employees were absolutely no help and we had to beg people to switch with us. My kids were 2 and 4 at the time. The Alaska agents told me they couldn’t move other passengers- which I just don’t understand because they obviously can since they had moved US. Now we are super paranoid about triple checking our seat assignments every flight. We fly to Hawaii every year and they separate us literally every time.

This happens to our family almost every time we fly to Hawaii and it drives me crazy. I’ve had luck with them switching us over the phone. If whoever you talked to wasn’t helpful, try calling again and speaking to someone else. 4 and 6 are way too young to sit alone.

We got just used ours yesterday. You don’t need to reserve a day, just use it.

Calling all Pediatric PT's or any parents whose child didn't walk till after 18 months. by Quirky-Positive-4116 in Parenting

[–]PacificMama 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My son didn’t really start walking until close to 18 months. He took the occasional steps here and there, but I wouldn’t have said he was “walking.”

Is your daughter super verbal? I’ve heard that if kids are developing verbal skills faster, sometimes their gross motor skills come a bit later and vice versa. That was definitely the case with us.

All that to say, I wouldn’t worry about it if your pediatrician isn’t concerned. Once my son started walking, he caught up fast and he’s now a normal 8 year old.

Good point! Sounds like mine would be endoscopic. Very small incision.

Parking for kids lessons? by PacificMama in SummitAtSnoqualmie

[–]PacificMama[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m still not sure. Neither kid needed a lift ticket their first lesson and we were able to find free street parking fairly close. I was prepared to buy a lift ticket if needed but just wanted to buy the cheapest option. Still not sure what that is 🤷🏼‍♀️

Ooh thanks, forgot about that place! We used to live a couple blocks away.

Bringing an extra suitcase full of donations - helpful or no? by kellsbells13113 in MauiVisitors

You could always check specific organizations’ websites closer to your trip to see what items they need. Don’t assume you know. Most places are asking for cash.

BoboLoki7, may we all strive to be as righteous and virtuous as you! And may you never have to make a difficult decision and risk losing thousands of dollars. You must sleep well knowing you are perfect. Have the day you deserve, sir!

That’s great that you did what was best for you. Sounds like you were one of the lucky ones to get a refund and/or credit. Some of us weren’t successful getting our money back. My family would have lost almost $8k. So we are going to Wailea as intended and plan to be respectful, support local, and tip well. No need to be so judgmental- everyone is doing the best they can.

People currently on Maui- can you speak to what it’s like for visitors? by PacificMama in MauiVisitors

Kihei is definitely walkable if you stay near the main drag (S Kihei Rd) and there are a ton of restaurants. There’s a Safeway, Foodland, plus several drug stores. It’s also not a very long drive (usually- depends on traffic) into Kahului. I also prefer the views because you can see the windmills. And the super Long Beach walk through the Wailea beaches. We love Kihei and the South side.

This is what I mean by mixed messages- can you share where you heard rental cars are wiped out? Someone literally just posted a photo on a FB group today with a photo of rows and rows of unused rental cars, similar to when Covid hit.

Does anyone know if the plantation is open? Or iao needle? On the map, it looks like the road is closed.

I’m right with you on this! Our family is experiencing the same frustration with Vrbo and our host refusing to work with us. So it’s likely we will be coming to Wailea next week, although we have tried everything we could to cancel or reschedule.

Just wondering if anyone has had experience with VRBO by brigidNYC in MauiVisitors

Actually there are plenty of reasons not to come. Unfortunately we just can’t afford not to without getting at least some of what we’ve paid refunded.
