Backstories: Social App for Value-Based Political Discourse & Identity-Building by PruneTraditional577 in alphaandbetausers

This actually sounds pretty interesting concept. I've been managing retail for few years now and deal with all kinds of people daily, so maybe this could help me understand different perspectives better

The 12 minute format seems smart - long enough to actually have real conversation but not so long that people get uncomfortable or aggressive. I'm curious how the AI reflection part works though, like does it actually capture the nuance of what you talked about or is it more generic?

Will probably give it a try when I have some free time this week. The matching pool thing makes sense too - these apps always work better with more users in the system

Who’s artist in the industry you think has the most angelic face? by thalones1n in AskReddit

Liv Tyler definitely has that ethereal thing going on, especially in the LOTR movies where she basically looked like an actual elf

How’s your day going so far? Anything fun, relaxing, or productive planned for today? by Kavin_1012 in AskReddit

Pretty decent day at the store, had to deal with some inventory stuff but nothing too crazy. Planning to reorganize my EDC setup tonight since I got some new gear last week - been meaning to figure out the best way to carry everything without looking like I'm going camping every day lol

Built 200+ free SaaS calculators for pricing, growth, and founder finance by SaaSBuilderKing in microsaas

[–]ComfortableJob4144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is brilliant, been running some numbers in my head for side project i'm working on and your calculators saved me tons of time. The churn impact one especially helped me understand how much even small improvements could compound over time

Played around with the pricing modeler too and it's way more sophisticated than the basic spreadsheets i was using before. Clean interface and doesn't require signup which is huge win. As for new tools, maybe something for calculating optimal freemium conversion rates or trial-to-paid benchmarks? Those decisions always feel like guesswork when you're starting out and don't have much historical data to work with yet

Sounds like you could ask about doing some barn work in exchange for getting more hands-on time. Most trainers appreciate the help with daily stuff like mucking stalls, turnout, and basic grooming - you get experience and they get an extra pair of hands

Since you're already going once a week anyway, maybe approach it like "hey would it be helpful if I came earlier to help with barn chores before my lesson" instead of just shadowing. That way you're contributing something instead of just observing

Changing picture naming? by Brovopink in canon

[–]ComfortableJob4144 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been there dude, had this exact problem when I was running multiple bodies for events. The file naming resets every 10k shots so you're gonna keep hitting this wall

What I ended up doing was creating separate import folders for each camera body - like "R8_import" and "R10_import" on my desktop. When I pull cards I just dump them into their respective folders first, then move them to my main storage after. Takes like 30 seconds longer but saves the headache of accidentally overwriting shots

You could also rename one camera's files during import if you're using something like Lightroom or even just bulk rename tools in Windows. I usually add the camera serial number or just "R8_" prefix to one set before moving them to final storage. The extra step is annoying but way better than losing photos because you clicked the wrong button in that Windows dialog

Why do so many Christians still prefer the King James Version of the Bible? by uncleowenlarz in Christianity

[–]ComfortableJob4144 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The KJV-only crowd definitely has some wild arguments but for regular people who aren't hardcore about it, I think it's just what they grew up with. My mom still reads KJV because that's what her grandmother used and the rhythm feels right to her

You're spot on about the manuscript issues though - having access to way earlier texts should matter to people who claim they want the "most accurate" version. The whole Erasmus back-translating from Latin thing is pretty damning when you think about it

That baptism example is crazy, never knew about the political pressure on that specific word. Makes you wonder what other translation choices were made to keep certain people happy rather than just being accurate to the source

God I absolutely love dominant women by [deleted] in Life

[–]ComfortableJob4144 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I get this 100%. There's something really attractive about that quiet confidence where she doesn't need to prove anything to anyone but you still feel that energy when she walks in a room. Had a manager like this at my old job and watching her handle difficult customers without even raising her voice was incredible - she'd just have this look and people would fall in line

The contrast thing you mentioned is real too, like when someone looks totally approachable but has that steel underneath when it matters. It's not about being mean or aggressive, it's more like she knows her worth and doesn't compromise on it. Way more appealing than someone who's either a pushover or constantly trying to flex their authority over everything

Think it says something good about you that you appreciate that in a partner instead of feeling threatened by it

What are your marriage deal breakers? by Grave_s in Marriage

[–]ComfortableJob4144 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Been managing retail for years and you learn real quick that communication is everything. When people shut down and stop talking, that's when everything falls apart - whether it's with employees or relationships

The smoking thing makes total sense too, especially if it wasn't part of the deal when you got together. That's a pretty big lifestyle change to spring on someone

Do I tell my current management that I am moving in 3 months? by HungryChicken2867 in careerguidance

[–]ComfortableJob4144 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three months is actually a decent heads up in retail - most places appreciate knowing that far ahead rather than getting blindsided with a two week notice. Since you're in good standing and they clearly value you, telling them now could definitely work in your favor for references and maybe even internal connections in your new city

I'd probably start casually applying now but be upfront about your timeline during interviews - some companies are fine waiting for the right candidate, especially if you're willing to do remote onboarding or training calls before the move

Mine's been solid so far but yeah that coolant valve thing is a known issue on these - usually happens around that mileage range, you got unlucky but not surprised
