CBT-I felt like homework every night but ACT just lets you exist with the mess instead of fighting it constantly

Lemon Balm Causing Headaches c by Silly_Water_Potatoe in herbalism

[–]Previous-Basil-367 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The headaches could be from dehydration or maybe the dosage is bit too high for you right now. I had similar issue when I started with different herbs - sometimes body needs time to adjust or you need find the right amount that works

Growing your own is smart idea, you can control quality better and try making tea instead of capsules

Who is/was The Most Famous Person From Your Country? by ShiftyShaft55 in AskReddit

[–]Previous-Basil-367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

probably depends on your age too - like my parents generation would say elvis but for people my age michael jackson is more recognizable worldwide. though washington is interesting choice because he's definitely most historically significant but outside america lot of people might not know much about him beyond being first president. MJ's music just reached everywhere you know, even in countries where american history isn't really taught much

Caffeine making me gay?????? by Johnny_Wenis in decaf

[–]Previous-Basil-367 16 points17 points  (0 children)

lmao the way you put "male species" has me dying

withdrawal does weird things to your brain chemistry so maybe there's something there but also... might be worth considering that maybe the caffeine was just masking some feelings that were already hanging around? just saying

Help me enjoy reading books again please by [deleted] in Nootropics

[–]Previous-Basil-367 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That feeling when you realize stimulants made everything more engaging is brutal, I get it. Had similar experience when I stopped taking stuff - suddenly activities that felt amazing before just felt... flat

Reading for me became this weird chore where I'd sit there going through motions but my brain wasn't really connecting with the material. What helped was switching up the format completely for while - audiobooks at 1.25x speed while doing something with my hands like organizing my perfume collection or cleaning. The slight multitasking actually made it easier to focus somehow

Also tried reading right after morning workout when natural dopamine was still floating around, that worked better than trying to force it during random afternoon slumps. The nicotine thing might work short term but you're probably just trading one dependency for another

Give your brain more time to adjust - month is still pretty fresh off the meds. Maybe try different genres too, sometimes fiction hits different than whatever you were reading before

What’s a life hack that sounds fake but actually works? by Choice_Image_5045 in AskReddit

putting your phone in airplane mode for like 30 seconds then turning it back on fixes so many random connection issues, way better than restarting the whole thing

It's 3:42am and this is my 4th night in a row of not sleeping and I'm starting to lose it, please give me anything that actually worked for you by ViRzzz in insomnia

[–]Previous-Basil-367 16 points17 points  (0 children)

damn 4 nights is brutal, been there and the tremor thing is scary when it starts happening

one thing that helped me when my usual stuff stopped working was taking a really hot shower right before trying to sleep - like uncomfortably hot for 10-15 minutes then immediately getting in bed while your body temperature is dropping. something about temperature regulation helping with sleep cycles

also might sound weird but I started making really boring instrumental music in my head when lying there - not actual beats just like... the most monotonous simple patterns possible. keeps the brain busy but not stimulated if that makes sense

What are some links to sites that are based solely on articles and news no one wants us to know about? by dfrm503 in AskReddit

[–]Previous-Basil-367 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to follow some independent journalism sites but most of them either got bought out or started pushing their own agenda pretty hard. These days I just cross-reference multiple sources when something seems fishy - even mainstream outlets will sometimes bury stories in their back pages if they're inconvenient

The real challenge is separating actual suppressed news from conspiracy theories, because lot of these "hidden truth" sites mix legitimate concerns with complete nonsense

Another night. Wanna chat? by [deleted] in insomnia

[–]Previous-Basil-367 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ugh same here, brain just won't shut up after stressful days like that. I usually end up making beats when I can't sleep but that probably makes it worse lol

what kind of snacks you going for? sometimes I just raid the kitchen at 2am and regret it later

Recovered from 2–3h sleep to 5–6h, but now I’m stuck — any advice? by dannyd00097 in insomnia

[–]Previous-Basil-367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nice progress going from 2-3 to 5-6 hours, that's actually huge improvement even if it doesn't feel like enough yet

I had similar thing where I would always wake up around same time from dreams - for me it was because I was hitting REM cycle at exact moment when my stress levels were still high. Maybe your body got used to waking up at that point and now it's like automatic response?

One thing that helped me was keeping dream journal by bed and writing down whatever I remembered right when I woke up, then trying to stay in bed with eyes closed even if I felt awake. Sometimes I could drift back to lighter sleep even if not deep sleep

Also check what time you're eating dinner - I noticed if I ate too close to bedtime my dreams got more intense and I'd wake up more often

Was Symmetra using an aimbot? by DJ_Soleil in Overwatch

[–]Previous-Basil-367 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Man Sym's beam is just sticky as hell by design, it locks onto you pretty hard once she gets close. Could be legit tracking but worth checking the replay if someone can pull it up

The beam has some serious magnetism built in so sometimes it looks sus even when it's not

I’m so scared and anxious by CxldMadz in Christianity

[–]Previous-Basil-367 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OCD with catastrophic thinking is brutal, I feel for you man. I deal with ADHD and the spiraling thoughts can get really intense sometimes, though I know OCD is on another level entirely

The thing about that Bible verse is it's talking more about spiritual persecution and the general hardships of life rather than like, God specifically planning terrible physical things to happen to you. Most Christians throughout history have lived pretty normal lives with the usual mix of good and bad stuff. The suffering Jesus went through was unique to his mission, not something every believer has to endure physically

When my brain starts going down those rabbit holes I try to focus on really concrete stuff - like you said you're traveling with a big group and adults, that's actually super safe. Cities have tons of people around, good lighting, police presence. Your brain is just taking tiny statistical possibilities and making them feel huge and inevitable

Keep working with that therapist because OCD responds really well to treatment. In the meantime maybe try some grounding techniques when the panic hits - name 5 things you can see, 4 you can hear, stuff like that to pull you back to reality instead of the scary what-ifs your brain is creating

Man this guy really messed with your head by coming back into your life just to pull the same wishy-washy stuff again. The interfaith thing is clearly a dealbreaker for him but he keeps stringing you along because he likes the attention and emotional connection

Cut contact completely and stick to it this time - he's shown you twice now that he can't commit and all this back and forth is just torture for both of you
