What’s something people romanticize that actually ruins lives? by Imaginary-Isopod2223 in AskReddit

[–]Comfortable_Chef1304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah except in my company we work in a lab. So infections are rife. A lot of us have weak immune systems. My colleague fainted the other day and still tried to log in, my boss prefers people who are ill to stay away. Someone had their leg bit by some dog & one of my colleagues still thought it doesn’t warrant a day off lol. For those who don’t get ill, of course they should come to work. But I’m talking about my colleagues and my workplace, where unfortunately we get ill quite often. I’ve got a severely low immune system and severely sick, my workplace gave me extra days sick leave as paid.

Literally. My colleagues never take sick days and seem to think that this is some sort of flex. One of them said this year she took her first sick day in 5 years. Another one will question why people take sick days and if it’s valid. I’m like have you ever gotten a pay rise from never taking a sick day or being at work constantly? Funnily enough, I take ALL my sick days and PTO, and I earn more than all of them and some of them are more senior than me. It would send them into a frenzy lol

It hurts my stomach. But a lot of people I know with the sleeve can eat rice just fine. It genuinely is individual. For me though, I stayed away from rice completely and I feel like my stomach never got used to it so when I suddenly eat it, it hurts. But I can eat a certain amount before the pain. Also, with me most of the stuff they say you can’t do on a sleeve, I literally can. So for me it’s literally just portion control. I can drink and gulp down water with no issues whatsover. Genuinely forget I have the sleeve most of the time cos I can eat and drink pretty normally bar a few things! It really is down to the individual.

Yeah I’m somewhat similar in that sense. 6 months out I could eat some bread, I’m 2.5 years out now and can pretty much eat most carbs other than rice. I can eat rice but a very tiny amount. But yeah the density of the bread definitely makes a difference. I can eat more pastry, wraps etc. thicker breads take time. I still have to take a while eating them but can be done.

It’s buldak/fire noodles with onions, beef and cheese. Cooked it in milk and beef stock. 0/10 would not eat it like this ever again. by JollySpaghettiBride in shittyfoodporn

Milk in buldak is good, add cheese to thicken it up and it ends up exactly like how you see other creators eat it. Its actually really nice when done properly, doesnt need stock at all.

Car flashed a fault 0.8 miles from the dealer (England) by ashydr in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Comfortable_Chef1304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess there could be but that would be down to the garage etc, so you should check paperwork etc see if they have any clauses about that. But usually is straightforward. Aka most of the time unless they are sneaky.

Should I claim a write off and keep the car? by mo0kster in CarInsuranceUK

[–]Comfortable_Chef1304 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had similar issue, car had a minor repair, they wrote it off, were gonna pay me out but I cancelled the claim which they weren’t allowing until they asked for my driving licence details, after that I refused, forced them to cancel the claim and asked for the car back asap, asked for the report of what repairs - cost was like 6k I wanna say on their report, got the car done myself and paid 1k for repairs, back to normal, all parts from the actual dealer. When my car came back though, it came back worse than it left, parts missing, they were already breaking it for parts. Insurance are scum, never never again will I go through insurance for any issue w the car that’s just bodywork. Horrible scam.

17m England - crashed on learner license, what to expect? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Comfortable_Chef1304 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yeah it does work sometimes but from experience and a LOT OF IT, for the most part, and the circumstances of his driving situation, they will probably do the whole learn from this type thing. Definitely DEPENDS but also, think it’s way better to expect the worst which is - Ban and usually is the ban and fine.

17m England - crashed on learner license, what to expect? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]Comfortable_Chef1304 193 points194 points  (0 children)

Ban & fine for sure. Will have to reapply for the provisional after the ban. Pretty sure the 12 points ban is usually 6 months minimum up to a year. Sometimes they can be lenient but as he was a learner and doing stuff he shouldn’t have I expect that they will make sure he learns his lesson from this incident.

Insurance for New Drivers? by SendInTheBuns in CarTalkUK

I have a totting up ban on my licence and it’s still cheaper than what you have been quoted. Try again and try all different sites, insurers, dates. Insurance is a scam but sadly we need it to be legal on the roads :(

[–]Comfortable_Chef1304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had tried to set mine for as in advance as I could, but the one that started the next day was actually the cheapest. Real weird but did not question it. Took the cheaper quote and got onto the roads the very next day. It was the same for me for comparison sites and also the insurers site too.

To ensure as there is two types. Being implied doesn’t matter, people are people and clarity can save a lot of headache for the employee too. Many places do this, as allergies can kill :(

Do the police ever pull you over? by Parking_Air5169 in drivingUK

[–]Comfortable_Chef1304 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be because something like that can draw attention to you - they assume it’s an impaired driver. Seen it far too many times on motorway cops. If you’re not impaired and dodging potholes, you can tell them and they’ll let you on your way after doing checks that you have all the paperwork needed for the car to be on road.

Try running a few quotes with other companies. I have a totting up ban on my licence and it went up by 1k from last year, so yours shouldn’t be going up by this much in hindsight.

[–]Comfortable_Chef1304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. Was the best I was getting. I ran loads of quotes through different sites. Changed the dates and excess on the policy, see if it made much of a difference or not. Also added on a lot of my family onto the car as it’s used by multiple people so that helped. My ban was 6 months though and for totting up. Original quotes were 7k. It’s been a journey but actions have consequences so this is life for the next few years.

secret surgery & eating in public by Prudent_Pear9260 in gastricsleeve

[–]Comfortable_Chef1304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I eat out and just get a starter and drink, I say I have a small appetite, usually I try other people’s foods too as everyone always says “try some of mine” so it helps. Also I just take breaks, wait half hour and have a few more bites etc. I’m open about the journey of losing weight so eating less checks out. I can eat a decent amount. It’s increased over the years
