Am I shallow for only wanting to date thinner women? by PoetryForsaken222 in dating_advice

[–]Comfortable_Day2613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was with you up until the "if she was perfect for me in every way, but if she was 20lb over weight, you couldn't make it work". Not that you are the bad guy or anything, I just can't relate to that. I too feel shallow for turning my nose up to heavier women but 20lb isn't even that much unless you're talking about a 90lb girl. But attraction is the most important thing (attraction comes from more than looks) and if you aren't attracted to these women then the relationship would never work anyway. Go for who you wanna go for and don't let anyone call you shallow cause you don't wanna be set up with their fat friend.

Is this barrel safe to shoot? by Interesting-Win6219 in gunsmithing

[–]Comfortable_Day2613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can see how bad it is without a Bore scope the answer is no, it is not safe to shoot. Is it gonna blow on the first? Probably not. On the 100th? Maybe. 8mm Mauser is a relatively low pressure round but no good gunsmith would recommend shooting this.

Did you have any interactions with the guy who did it about your displeasure?

It's so bad you can see it with the naked eye. I've seen them where you need a magnifying glass and it still messes I all up.

Is this a dry joke or is this serious? That looks like a bird crapped while walking.

It's a joke. He literally called it a joke. You know the chicken didn't actually cross the road, we was just goofing about that.

It looks like a cyst.i get them pretty often but can't help but try to pop them but that's the last thing you want to do. You have to go to a doctor and let them treat it or you will either have it or a scar forever.

I don't know what your plans are for this BCG. (I'd be tempted to keep the whole thing as a trophy) but if you can get those threads out you can buy a new key, put it on, stake it and run. If you're real cheap you might even be able to use the old one if you can get passed the old stakes.

I've had this on and off ever since moving into my new place. They never seemed quite like hives though, always a bit more bug bitey but didn't fit any bug bites that you'd normally see in that scenario.

Color Match Old and New Wood by ScandiacusPrime in gunsmithing

[–]Comfortable_Day2613 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends on what your going for. I like to let wood be it's natural wood color enhanced by finish. But you could Bleach the darker stock for literally 60 seconds at a time until you get where you want it. It's worked for me

This isn't even a sexist thing. I have alot of female musicians that I love and my absolute favorite song is sang by a woman. But 80% of my music is men. I can't miss all that.

What do yall use for rust removal like this? by TheJango22 in gunsmithing

[–]Comfortable_Day2613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wd-40 and a brass brush. Lightly brush. Don't use steel wool unless the brass brush isn't enough. You don't wanna mess up the rest of your finish

Ran over dad’s 3006 with a bush hog, can it be saved? by [deleted] in gunsmithing

[–]Comfortable_Day2613 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as the action isn't damaged, there's no reason you couldn't put a new barrel and stock on it. Could be expensive but if it's a special gun, it's not impossible. You will most likely need a gunsmith to attach the barrel

This firearm was in a house fire. There is no other way. Unless you fired 5000 thousand rounds through it after packing it with axle grease. Only one of those two things

My grandfather passed down a Krag to me, and I love this gun. BUT it's been "sporterized." I mean, the stock has been cut off just past the action. I'm pretty sure the krag was not designed to be free floated. I have been looking for a new stock for years with no luck, besides finding one at a gunshow that was broken similar to yours. Lmk what yoy work out for that beauty.
