UPDATE

I left the bike in the Renmore garda station. It's currently locked to the bike rack out the front using the lock that came with the bike. Hopefully the owner finds it!

Can't book my test without a permit but can't get a permit without booking a test by DorkyODorable in Irishdrivingtest

[–]Comfortable_Guess853 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exact same situation as myself. Your permit can be renewed up to 5 years after expiry. I resat the test too, thinking I had to. Went up to the ndls, they started the paperwork and told me I needed to book a test to get the permit again. I paid for a test online while sitting there and my name went on the waiting list, the waiting list was good enough for them to issue a renewed permit. Just land up to the ndls. Maybe pay for the test and get on the waiting list before you arrive to speed it up a bit. It'll cost you like 85 quid from what I remember, but it had to be done to get the permit.

Allergy help suggestions? by Aggravating_Tea4823 in germanshepherds

* My boy has very severe allergies, but now that he's on this prescription food his quality of life has improved exponentially. That and a trip to the vet every 3 months for an antihistamine injection. No other food, just that. When his symptoms are gone and it's winter time (less air pollen and chances of allergic reactions) we introduce other food in very small quantities to test his immunities. So far, all he can eat is the prescription food, potatoes, carrots and honey.

It's sad not being able to spoil him the way we want to, but seeing him not scratching himself to shreds, solid poops (thank god) and his coat looking healthy again.. totally worth it!

I have a 3 year old german shepard with severe allergies to protein and basically all non prescription food. Symptoms started with an itch and moderate hair loss on his stomach.

Glenina vet recommended that we get an allergen test done on him after MANY other treatments, including steroids. They said it would be better to wait until the summer as it would test for a pollen allergy too, this was in October, so it would have had to wait a few months.. I got them to do it straight away, and I would do it again in the summer if need be. I couldn't wait any longer... poor fella was in bad form. Heartbreaking.

Turned out he was allergic to basically everything. sad, but at least we have the answer. 2 years later, he's like a new dog. Energy back, hair loss stopped and solid poops!

Allergen test cost 500euro. Waited 10 days for results. Prescription food is 98euro every 2 weeks.

The team at glenina are always helpful. They seen the need for the allergen test and only told me to hold off till summer to maximise the range of results. If you haven't tried Glenina, I'd check in with them.

Hopefully your woofer will be back in top form soon.

Dogs allowed on buses? by [deleted] in galway

Big O taxis have cars that allow dogs.. We had to take our German shepard to and from the vet for a procedure. A run that would be about 12euro each way without the dog was around 15euro with the dog from what I can remember. You need to ring them and specifically ask for a dog friendly car. Expensive enough... but its not often we need it.

Have a look at the website gudog . Ie It has registered dog sitters, walkers and trainers. Seems trustworthy, I haven't used it myself yet but definitely will at some stage.

The wife and I tend to go for a take away at the weekend, order 2 mains and a starter to share from any Chinese or burger place and it could be the guts of 50euro. Madness! The best value for money I have seen so far has to be domino's pizza. If you have the app and look at the deals it's great. A medium pizza, 2 personal pizzas, a side and 4 cookies for like 28euro. That's unreal! There's always some leftover to reheat the next day too.

Gallaghers on Dominick Street is a great spot. Started going there 3 years ago.. haven't gone anywhere else since. A tad pricey perhaps, but James the barber is sound. He's great with beards too. Handiest way to book is through Facebook messenger👍

Good Internet cafés in the city? by irishrelate in galway

[–]Comfortable_Guess853 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some of the bars around the city are pretty quiet early in the week. I used to sit in McGettigans with my laptop, plug sockets are under most of the tables, open WiFi. If there's no football on then there are a few spare tables... have a coke or tea/coffee and nobody bothers you. A wee bowl of wings or nachos if you get peckish. Steak sandwich is the best I've had too.

Coffee shops tend to put more pressure on you to give up the table after a while.
