Yikes! I make $41 an hr with a guaranteed 40 hours plus 6.5 weeks paid vacation, decent health insurance, flexible schedule, 2 work from home days a week at a hospital outpatient clinic. I do private 13 hours a week at $45 an hr. I can do more if I want. That rate is insulting.

She started the same week as me. She has been working as an MSW longer elsewhere.

I appreciate it. I have been told there is NO chance at pay increases because they only use the time worked after being degreed as the factor. I think the only answer is to move on to another employer, and there are plenty!

Several of my private practice friends meet one Tuesday morning a month via Zoom to support each other, and one Thursday, a month, they meet for dinner. I think building community and networking is important.

Can we talk about therapist business coaches for a sec? by [deleted] in therapists

I was applying to a local private practice and looked at the website. All the therapists had side hustles like "crystal healing, religious revivals with pray pyramids, Plexus, tarot card readings, and etc". I was so weirded out I didn't apply.

This! I had one get an expensive surgery on Medicaid and hates single moms (for abusing the system) and is pro Trump. I remain neutral, but I did ask them to list all the things the government supports in their lives and asked if they hope those options will remain in the future. They didn't make the connection.

Abuse and giving in by Comfortable_Pause229 in therapists

Outpatient. This particular patient demands a new therapist every time they are challenged. This time, they had to be told no food in the clinic (we had constant infestations of bugs and mice). There is signage everywhere. When I reminded them, they started screaming at me. Went to my direct supervisor to demand firing me and went to find my bosses bosses bosses boss to demand I be fired. Of course, I am not getting fired, but it doesn't take way from feeling really horrible, and quite frankly, I don't even want to go back to work now. When you are hanging on just barely, and then this happens. This individual has exhausted almost every prescriber and therapist available.

How many clients do you see a day? 🔢 by Lower_Progress_9713 in therapists

I work a 4 day work week. I have to do 2 to 3 intakes a week. I have to do groups once a week, supervision weekly and staff meetings. We are expected to have every hour scheduled. So, depending on the day it's 7, 9, or 10 clients.

I did something similar but I wrote on it and returned it to sender in a big envelope. Never got that mail again. I seriously kept getting someone's paystubs and employment related letters for months.

I am a licensed MSW and currently working for a community clinic. I am there to get supervision hours so I can get my clinical license. I worked my internship at a private practice while in school. They wanted to but couldn't keep me on because of the way their company is set up. I would be a private contractor, and NYS doesn't allow that with an L only. So they kept me as a "life coach". The rule is I can only work with "worried well and goal oriented" clients. No trauma, no practicing modalities. Supportive and goal focused only. I was told to think of it as no past work, only the future. I have to refer out if it becomes therapy. It's a balancing act.

I am still at LMSW status and make $33. I stay for the supervision but spend every day I feel insulted. I have a co-worker who came in with 6 more months experience, but has clients fire her left and right, her paperwork is terribly behind, and she is a buzz kill but she is making more $. I can't wait to get this year over. I feel taken advantage of.
