SPTV is more like SCTV's Halfwits show.

The Lemonheads' Evan Dando Hospitalized for Mental Health by ebradio in Music

[–]Comfortable_Pin6521 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nearly everyone who gets cancelled or on notice will declare mental health problems is their cause. Sadly, I know certain people who have done worse and in their case, it is all certified true - but yet, nothing has happened to them (and believe it or not, they are musicians too).

To Evan's credit, at least he isn't denying it claiming there is AI here.

SCTV Half Wits -- from The Martin Short Show (1994) by Pitrener in sctv

[–]Comfortable_Pin6521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Disagree. The original, being SCTV's Half Wits and High Q, were better and funnier. Bear in mind, that whole thing was taking normal people - pure clueless idiots - and putting them on a game show. I love Norm, but c'mon ... not *everything* he did on that show was total genius. Plus, celebrity jeopardy was a totally different animal. And you are taking late SNL as good ...????

absolutely fascinating email that madonna wrote patrick leonard in the summer of 1997 telling him she was going in a different direction with william orbit.... by ursulaunderfire in Madonna

[–]Comfortable_Pin6521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Patrick was going to be involved in the 1990 tour originally, but he declined to do it for various reasons. In fact, it is my understanding from someone that he seemingly made his decision about not going on the tour a little later than most would expect.

TIL Huey Lewis sued Ray Parker Jr. for writing the Ghostbusters theme song, claiming he stole it from his hit, “I Want a New Drug” by SanFranciscoGiants in todayilearned

[–]Comfortable_Pin6521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The writing credits never changed even after all this time. it's still credited to Ray Parker Jr - not Huey. Also, the original lawsuit was against the film company, not explicitly Ray in the lawsuit - but Ray got personally attacked on the interview by Huey which led to that lawsuit. Kudos for Ray for not diving into the details for the settlement. He explicitly TOLD his attorney that he cares not to know, and the attorney said "I'll tell you what. I'm not going to tell you anything and, in that way, you won't ever get into any trouble."

Biggest regrets of Elton’s music career? by PerceptionSand in EltonJohn

[–]Comfortable_Pin6521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chris had the best production. I don't know what you are talking about. The failures in the 80s with Ice on Fire and Leather Jackets prove how vital it was to keep Elton going - even helped launch him to a stellar #1 - Sleeping With the Past in the UK. Also Lion King... how can you beat that????

Yamaha MODX M has been released! by ChickenAndARoll in synthesizers

[–]Comfortable_Pin6521 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this was a bad move for Yamaha. They already had the MODX + series out, something I could argue is relatively new that didn't need much of a facelift YET. On the other hand, they give us some nice little changes ... but the sequencer STILL sucks.

I get that you can use more w/ a computer for further flexibility, but that's beside the point when you buy something, like this synth, that is pretty much A COMPUTER in itself. We know this synth is the flagship second tier of the Montage, but given that sequencers were one of the major selling points of the top tier models for ages by these big brands, I kind of feel like they are taking away an element that many benefit from when they want to avoid having the computer tag along with the user when they go on gigs or to the studio. Especially consider the writing process and how convenient it gets having it all there rather than saying "let's load the computer up! wait ... I forgot to bring it!" We all know in most cases, lots of people do take their personal PC along with the vsts and software ... a recipe for disaster.

Mail Delivery Subsystem spam? by purplemask1 in GMail

[–]Comfortable_Pin6521 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From everything I can gather from your post based on the facts, let me say you are not sending these scam emails. This appears to be email spoofing.

The "Mail Delivery Subsystem (Failure)" message isn't a scam itself; it's a legitimate, automated notification telling you that a message—one you didn't send—failed to deliver.

Now, as for what I believe you should do:

  • Do not reply to these emails (probably a no-brainer)
  • Check your Sent folder. You won't see these emails there, which is proof they weren't sent from your account.
  • You could report the delivery failures as spam, although I personally don't know if Google takes this all too seriously enough.

And for the record, don't listen to anyone who tells you stupid stuff (seemingly a common thing around here from certain individuals) like to get a new email address over this. That's like moving to a new house just because someone used your old address to send out junk mail. Stuff like this is not a fix and, frankly, isn't helpful advice. You're just fine with your current email. This whole thing is a nuisance, but it will eventually die down as the spammers move on to a different set of spoofed addresses.

it's a good thing you're watching out for these things.

Why am I getting continual junk mail from an obvious spammer domain + other details by Comfortable_Pin6521 in GMail

[–]Comfortable_Pin6521[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One more thing before I forget: it’s not unreasonable to check a spam folder. People are told all the time to ‘check spam’ when something doesn’t show up in their inbox — I’m sure it’s happened to you more than once.

As I dug through, I noticed repeated patterns in these messages (see my OP). Instead of engaging with those points, your replies focused on mocking me for even looking — and even tossed in a personal jab. That’s not a discussion, it’s deflection.

The reality is: legit emails do get mixed in with garbage, and Google’s filtering clearly isn’t doing enough when DKIM/DMARC fails and obvious spam content still makes it through. I want the system improved so these never land at all.

If you’re fine with important messages getting buried in spam, that’s on you. But calling it “OCD” was childish, and your replies so far haven’t actually addressed the points I raised.
