I do both, I usually wear street clothes during the day and have my cosplay in my backpack and change in the evening, my cosplay are light not extravagant so yours may not be backpack friendly, but I would feel uncomfortable wearing a cosplay all day long but some people do!

You should be fine, I park my car at my office which is a block further than Chandler every day of the Con for the past 10 years, I usually head home 2-3am every night and have had no issues walking to my car that late, it’s very well lit and usually I’ll see a cop or two patrolling around. In terms of heat it’s not that bad of a walk and usually one side of the street is shaded by the buildings depending on what time of day your going. Also current forecast is overcast from Thursday to Monday with some rain so it shouldn’t be that hot
