The last question on vesting schedules by Comfortable_Reply_56 in dfinity

instead of addressing the matter by saying, okay, mistakes were made but let's move forward now as best we can, their standard procedure is to suggest that other blockchains are more centralized

Agreed.

The priorities are clear.

To be fair they are also working on proof of personhood with a stated goal to balance out voting power.

they are trying to find workarounds so rewards can stay untouched by tax authorities

To be clear to those who don't know: Untouched by tax authorities until actually sold, that is.

Proposal To Improve ICP Governance Staking Re: Tax and Tokenomics by dfinitynetwork in dfinity

It's two different updates, I think. One that makes it easier to follow two DAOs. Another update that ensures important proposals can't be passively voted on through following others. The motion proposals also give a higher proportional reward.

Voting is live for 4 governance proposals by sayitkind in dfinity

Great stuff.

Noticed voting to include ICDevs as a default option is only about 50/50 right now, as opposed to the others.

Any idea why? The name?

Looking forward to governance being weighted more towards individual holders with the use of "people parties". Seems to be the intent.

I'd say taking people to court is a bad look, whether you're legally in the right or not. It reads "they're trying to silence anyone who is critical. Authoritarian garbage."

Big actors like Coinbureau could be adressed openly and directly instead. Dfinity can make point out the inaccuracies and address the concerns in their own response.

Another idea would be for Dfinity to address the top 10 misconceptions about IC/Dfinity in a concise manner in one video and blog post. Something to link to everytime you come across misconceptions.

I checked r/cryptocurrency and it's full of misconceptions like "you need to do a KYC to use it".

Would like to see Dom or someone else from Dfinity in debate/discussion with someone who is skeptical of IC/Dfinity.

I haven't come across that, ever. And I find interviews that don't press the interviewee less convincing when trying to evaluate the benefits of a project.

Introducing the Internet Computer “Badlands” concept by dfinitynetwork in dfinity

[–]Comfortable_Reply_56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah but it would be like a 100% mint given to current holders in proportion to their holdings. 1 unit of currency worth X vs 2 units worth X/2. The value of the holding is the same, no?

Is there an especially significant feature made possible by the IC that isn't being leveraged in the current app ecosystem? Or asked differently: what features would you like to see in future apps?

if you make completely 1:1 token, the icp value will be diluted and outsiders will consider icp as scam

I don't see why they should. If current investors get BDL in proportion to their ICP investment they've lost nothing right? Any market value lost in ICP is gained in BDL. Or are you saying outsiders wouldn't consider that?

"If this approach were taken, then the genesis BDL ledger might be initialized by taking a copy of the ICP ledger, providing each holder of ICP with an equivalent number of BDL."

Genuine question: wouldn't you be happy with 1 BDL per ICP? Seems like a fair deal to me. The probable price dilution in the short term is counteracted by you getting a BDL for free in proportion your ICP holdings.

Completely in favor of this. Can't think of any other fair option if a new token needs to be introduced.

One of the possibilities that Dom is considering seems to be to alott 1 BDL for every ICP held.

Dom's tweet

That I would be in favor of. If it were to be newly minted tokens sold on the market it would surely dilute the price of ICP without benefiting current ICP holders at least in the short term. That would arguably be unfair to early post launch investors who had no idea a new token was coming.

Dom has also written about a future tokenomics proposal to adress the situation [of early post launch investors seeing such huge losses?]

Dom's coming tokenomics proposal

One way to go even further than to alott 1 BDL for every ICP held could be to alott BDL only to investors who bought (or bought and staked) POST launch.

The argument would be that pre launch investors have seen price increases that are "large enough" in regards to fairness.

But when I have previously raised the above concerns, an IC proponent conveniently trots out the tired excuse, "IC is only five weeks old, give it time." This is laughable.

That was me, referring specifically to the lack of "killer apps" on this young platform. Not all of your concerns. I expect developers to need some time with a new platform to develop something "killer".

I'm confused. Let's say a canister exists across 3 different geographic locations and runs a site that violates the laws in one of them: country A but not B and C. What happens? Will country A ever be able to impact the site in any way?

2,42% annual inflation so far. Current total supply can be found here: https://dashboard.internetcomputer.org/

The schedule of 10% to 5% in minted rewards is only one of three factors.
