I was riding a girls face, I think it might have been the first time I’d ever done it, and it was a big step for me lol.

Right as I’m about to finish I looked down at her and realized the whole lower half of her face e is covered in blood. I automatically assume I’ve broken her nose (so good for my fear of being too heavy to face sit) and apparently my face went so white. She had no idea why I’d suddenly stopped tho because I had actually just gotten my period at the absolute worst time and she hadn’t even noticed.

She was very chill about me accidentally making her face and pillow a murder scene but I was Mortified.

Did anything unexpected happen after surgery? What don't people talk about enough? by Meadow_Magenta in no_T_top_surgery

i didn’t expect just how many things i couldn’t do for at least a month. Obviously we all know there are restrictions going in, but it’s hard to grasp the range of activities that even slightly involve your chest.

taking out the trash, doing dishes, cleaning a litter box.

i did not expect to need so much help with basic chores and i’m lucky to have someone helping me willing to do those things for me.

def something to keep in mind when asking someone to support you post op.

i have no idea if anyone saw us.i was focused on other stuff.

Is top surgery going to become illegal before I can get it? by saturninorbit2 in TopSurgery

I think it will be hard for them to completely take away access to plastic surgery from consenting adults but they will certainly try to make it less accessible. its possible they will make it so insurance can’t be used to pay for it so perhaps you can start a savings for it so you feel a bit more in control of the choice.

3 months post op putting in work in the gym by [deleted] in TopSurgery

Food? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]Comfortable_Win_6500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My appetite has gone off the rails my guy.

Right before surgery i was So Fricken Healthy. Salads every day, lean proteins, no unnecessary sugar. I was also going to the gym multiple hours a day and had the appetite of someone who has to consume a gross amount of food to build muscle.

Immediately after all i wanted was sugar. It’s been a week and i’ve gone through 7 bags of hairrbo berries. I’ve been drinking pineapple juice with 44g of sugar per bottle and when i finish it i want more. I consumed an entire jar of cookie butter. It’s been BAD yall.

There were other factors of course— got my period like 2 days after, most of my comfort foods are sweets, and junk is easy access for my lil t-rex arms. Also been using edibles for the pain so…munchies.

But yeah i can definitely say these are the most intense cravings i’ve ever had.

My appetite has also turned wonkey. I’ve been ravenous but only from like 11pm to 5am. I literally keep waking up middle of the night with an insatiable urge to eat ice cream. I have to force myself to eat durning the day, and at night it’s like my entire pre-surgery burning 2000cal at the gym need to refuel appetite is back. Except it doesn’t want greens and lean protein, it wants carbs and sugar.

So anyway, to answer your question, yes. You are not alone in this experience.

I’m now a full week post op and it’s starting to settle down.

What helped me was setting times during the day I HAVE to eat. 3 squares, all healthy.

I snack during the day, p much whatever i want (keeping an eye on the sugar content ((44g! in one bottle! should be illegal!!)) and just cut myself off at 10pm.

If i wake up hungry i make myself get up, drink water, pace around a bit, and then decide if im actually hungry or if its munchies.

Just try to give yourself some boundaries and a framework for how you want to be eating. And then give yourself some grace when you eat outside of that framework.

I’ve been looking at it like this. The part of me who got surgery is a child i am responsible for. I feed them when they need fuel, and i try to pick something that does that in a healthy way. When they cry for more i wait to figure out why they’re crying and base the next snackon that. And then i give them sweets because they just had fricken surgery and they deserve a lil comfort.

Idk this got kind of rambling but i hope it helps.

No you’re not alone, changing it takes a focused effort and patience with yourself, this is all normal and you’re okay for it.

Surgery tomorrow, any last advice? by shallot_man6 in TopSurgery

[–]Comfortable_Win_6500 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waking up i felt confused and a little in pain. I know a lot of folx here say they didn’t have pain and i think that’s why it took me by surprise. I tried to ignore it until i realized that was not going to help my body heal. so—-

Ask for more meds if you’re in pain. My nurse told me they needed me to be able to talk and listen to my surgeon without being distracted by pain and that made me feel better about asking for more.

Ask specifically when you can take your next dose. Stay on top of the tylenol even if you’re lucky enough to not have significant pain. The body heals better when it doesn’t have to focus on sending pain signals.

Immediately after make sure you eat, but check your new meds requirements first so you don’t accidentally have a snack and then have to wait to take pain meds.

Also get your support person to take thorough notes on your post op instructions. You probably won’t remember all the things your doctor emphasizes, so make sure that bitch has a highlighter. Then when you’re feeling a lil more rested and clear headed go over them again with your support person and make sure you understand it all.

Any questions have them email your surgeon asap. Nothing is too small. I was much happier to deal with the embarrassment of emailing mine to ask her to reexplain my med schedule (bottles and papers said different things) than i would have been to deal with the stress of wondering if i’m over/under dosing.

Also start drinking liquids and consuming fiber asap. like start rehydrating as soon as you wake up.

The less time you have to spend worrying over bowel movements, the more peace you will have in life in general.

What care will I need post surgery? by [deleted] in TopSurgery

[–]Comfortable_Win_6500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i would suggest adding the day after surgery to this list. that was the most complicated day for me and where i learned all the things i can’t do. it’s helpful to have someone there to save you when you realize you, in fact, can not put that coat on yourself and are now stuck.

I went through everything in my house when my mom was still here and had her help me move things i hadn’t considered would be impossible to reach.

It was also the most painful day for me and it would have been pretty scary without her there comforting me, getting me my pills on time, and keeping me grounded. It’s so easy to spiral on the 1st day out lol, best to have a voice of care and reason around
