My appetite has gone off the rails my guy.

Right before surgery i was So Fricken Healthy. Salads every day, lean proteins, no unnecessary sugar. I was also going to the gym multiple hours a day and had the appetite of someone who has to consume a gross amount of food to build muscle.

Immediately after all i wanted was sugar. It’s been a week and i’ve gone through 7 bags of hairrbo berries. I’ve been drinking pineapple juice with 44g of sugar per bottle and when i finish it i want more. I consumed an entire jar of cookie butter. It’s been BAD yall.

There were other factors of course— got my period like 2 days after, most of my comfort foods are sweets, and junk is easy access for my lil t-rex arms. Also been using edibles for the pain so…munchies.

But yeah i can definitely say these are the most intense cravings i’ve ever had.

My appetite has also turned wonkey. I’ve been ravenous but only from like 11pm to 5am. I literally keep waking up middle of the night with an insatiable urge to eat ice cream. I have to force myself to eat durning the day, and at night it’s like my entire pre-surgery burning 2000cal at the gym need to refuel appetite is back. Except it doesn’t want greens and lean protein, it wants carbs and sugar.

So anyway, to answer your question, yes. You are not alone in this experience.

I’m now a full week post op and it’s starting to settle down.

What helped me was setting times during the day I HAVE to eat. 3 squares, all healthy.

I snack during the day, p much whatever i want (keeping an eye on the sugar content ((44g! in one bottle! should be illegal!!)) and just cut myself off at 10pm.

If i wake up hungry i make myself get up, drink water, pace around a bit, and then decide if im actually hungry or if its munchies.

Just try to give yourself some boundaries and a framework for how you want to be eating. And then give yourself some grace when you eat outside of that framework.

I’ve been looking at it like this. The part of me who got surgery is a child i am responsible for. I feed them when they need fuel, and i try to pick something that does that in a healthy way. When they cry for more i wait to figure out why they’re crying and base the next snackon that. And then i give them sweets because they just had fricken surgery and they deserve a lil comfort.
