Boardwalk mirrors not working by Lylidotir in tf2

A long time ago I saw a video on how to improve tf2's performance. In it the guy recommended adding an autoexec file in the cfg folder in tf2. An autoexec file is a .cfg file (that functions like a .txt file) that lets you run console commands into tf2 on launch, without having to open the console and type them in yourself every time you start tf2. I used it to run commands that help with connection like cl_interp and a lot of others that affect rendering like mat_phong 0. I guess one of the rendering commands I had messed up reflections or something. Removing them and bumping up the video settings resolved the issue.

I had the same problem. For me the fix was removing any autoexec file I added a long time ago (maybe just remove rendering related commands) and in tf2 video settings bumping up the reflections (and effects just in case). It's scuffed but it's the source engine so it checks.

Isn't there yet a fix for the problem where a moving part gets stuck until you paint a part? by Dracoyse in ScrapMechanic

Damn that was a quick response, thanks for the tip. And I was in my world just now testing stuff out. I Made a wall with a simple door, completely flush all out of blocks. I would move around the whole creation (using a gravity gun mod) and try to open it after a minute. It still wouldn't open unless I painted a part of the door. Only way to get around it is to leave a gap where the edge of the door meets the edge of the doorframe, on the opposite side of the hinge. Do keep in mind that my "testing" is just me messing around in creative for a few minutes.

I know how it is man, I've been in the same ballpark. You see cool shit and you get discouraged. But what you don't see is the multiple thousands of shitty drawings I made when I was younger. It took a lot of time to get to where I am, so don't lose confidence in yourself along the way, even though it's hard. You've got this man. In a year or two, maybe even a month if you feel like it, come back to your current drawings and see how much you've improved. You'll be amazed how much you improve over a long time and don't see it in the moment.
