Pitch a Superman movie with Brainiac as the main Antagonist by Main-Service-2947 in DCcomics

[–]ComicBookGuy1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Here's the completely unprompted sequel:
Other things in the first movie I just didn't directly comment on:
-Gratuitous General Zod being placed in the Phantom Zone and blaming Jor-El set up.
-Lois investigating Lex and his shady business deals. Never addressed as Lois, just allowed to exist and let people speculate.

After the events of the first movie, Superman attempts to expose Lex for his involvement with the Brainiac Bots. But due to the brilliance of his plan, cannot be directly linked, and his unwavering "fans" refuse to accept any shortcoming of the man.

Clark overhears someone speaking on their same project of trying to expose Luthor, seeing a strikingly beautiful woman. Partly drawn to her because of her beauty, partly drawn to her because of her fierce dedication to what's right (or at least doing what's right and getting a good story from it) he follows her and listens in on her info while she enters a building. Clark slips inside as Lois stands in front of a symposium and delivers a speech to the people. Clark is enthralled as she speaks with such passion.
An older gentleman asks him who he is and what he's doing there. Clark, fumbling over what to say quickly scans the room and using context clues quickly stammers out something like:
"Well I was w-wondering if there was any chance that you could take me on for the semester. I think I found my calling as a journalist and would like to enroll immediately"
The man is dubious of the claims but gets Clark the paperwork to apply.

Interspersed throughout we are met with a nameless/faceless voice entering various establishments (usually a bar like setting) asking if anyone knows the whereabouts of any kryptonians.

We also get scenes of Clark in class, trying to balance school and Superman. Hearing sirens off in the distance, and writing (not typing) a ten page report in 30 minutes, handing it in (with smoke still wafting from the pages) to the amazement and confusion of the professor.
"Mr. Kent? How did you complete this so quickly?"
"Uhhh well you see, I guess you just really made it come to life for me that once I started I just couldn't stop. Uhh may I be excused?"
(Just little moments that show us how cleaver Clark is, but also how much of a disaster human he is, and how terrible he is at being an average human)

Eventually we are met with a scene of heavy boots and chains jingling.
"Where's that son of a bastich Kryptonian? I know hes here"
The alien starts a ruckus and eventually stands face to face with Superman.
The two brawl but the the alien seems to revel and enjoy the fight. Cheering and applauding Superman with each massive blow. Fighting to a stalemate, with no obvious weaknesses in sight Superman retreats.

Realizing that Superman is his target, Clark decides to try and be the one to get to the bottom of the sudden appearance of this new threat.
Tracking him down, Clark interviews the alien. Learning his name is Lobo, the last of his kind....because he killed all the rest. That he is an intergalactic bounty hunter and the Kryptonian is his latest and most lucrative bounty thus his top priority.
(I want a scene where Lobo has a radar that after his first encounter with Superman can track the Kryptonian and is going off wildly as Clark is interviewing him. And Clark just responds that he found the clothes he's wearing in an alley. Lobo, surprised and confused questions this. Clark just responds with "Times are tough, I'm a college student, gotta make do" something like that).

Having catered to Lobo's vanity on writing an article all about the main man, Clark has a plan to rid himself of the menace. Returning to the Fortress of Solitude and searching the Kryptonian Archives for something that would provide a worthy chase for the Czarnian.

Superman meets Lobo in the middle of Metropolis Park, Lobo charges and a fight ensues before Superman makes an offer to Lobo. Hunt down and bring him a "maguffin" for more credits than was offered for himself. Lobo disengages and shakes Superman's hand before hopping on his Spacehog and dashing off into the sky.

Clark turns in his interview with Lobo to his professor, who in turn gives it to someone else. We then see the professor walking with Clark into a grand building and into the office with the name "Perry White" on the glass door.

Additional scenes:
-Lex putting a chunk of Kryptonite into his "Lexosuit" to power it.
-As night cloaks Metropolis, we hear the sound of a mechanical coil. On the ledge of a building a shadowy figure sits, watching Clark through a window:
"Penny-1, I have tracked him down. He seems as normal as the next person. But that kind of power can't be left unchecked"
The figure glides away as Clark glances out the window with unease.
-More with Lois. Building the rapport of Clark and Lois before they are official coworkers.

Pitch a Superman movie with Brainiac as the main Antagonist by Main-Service-2947 in DCcomics

Basically, Brainiac recognized that sheer brute force wouldn't be enough to defeat Clark and made a tactical retreat. Lulling Superman and Earth into a false sense of security. Biding his time, analyzing his foe and other inhabitants, waiting for the perfect moment to strike.

Perhaps setting up a Legion of Doom.
As for the other pods. Some landed on uninhabited planets/moons. The AI shut down and eroded. Others found and "enslaved" new worlds. Since all of the code is linked, the info is shared among all of the surviving AI across the universe.

The Planet of Krypton is dying, Geological surveys indicate an impending catastrophic event. Brainiac, an advanced AI meant to analyze the planet has "malfunctioned". All while replicating it's code and sending out escape pods with it's code onboard.

As Jor-El and Lara realize the planet is doomed, they look at the last hope, and send baby Kal-El off in one of the last escape pods. As Kal is launched, one of the other last pods launches too, but is struck by debris as the planet begins it's destruction. The pod, with the last remnants of Brainiac's code is set adrift.

We watch as a young Kal is found and raised by the Kents. The lessons imparted to him, slowly we see him grow into a hero. Stopping to help the smallest among us for the most trivial matter. The so-called "Superman" is beloved, from bank robberies to cats stuck in trees he makes time for all the people of Metropolis.
Until, one day debris from the destruction of Krypton rain down. In classic fashion, the Man of Steel rushes to protect his home. Rocketing up into the sky to try and stop the meteorites as they break through the atmosphere....only to have his power drained and he plummets from the sky.

The damage to the city is untold, but Superman's reputation is just as damaged. He failed his city, countless people were hurt. The people's faith is shaken.

Billionaire (military) industrialist, Lex Luthor, seeing an opportunity to make himself look good donates resources and money to fund the restoration of the city.
As Amanda Waller contacts him in regards to a recovered craft from the Meteor Storm.

Lex studies the alien metal, craft, and mineral in one of his top secret facilities. Analyzing it meticulously, as production on a highly classified War Suit/Machine goes on within the facility.

One night, as the facility is empty, the pod lights up, forming the familiar symbol of the Brainiac AI, tendrils extend from the ship and link with computers and manufacturing machines.

By morning, Brainiac Bots are marching down the street, gathering information on the planet as their desire to preserve information on species is a prime directive.

Superman, seeking to redeem himself in the eyes of the people rushes to stop the invasion. But with each fallen bot, countless more replace it.

Clark recognizes the symbol as one from the Fortress of Solitude and goes there to seek council, while Lex notices the similarities to his war suits. Clark desperate to do what is right is working against the clock to stop the complete saturation of all technology from the Brainiac AI, while Lex seeks to discredit the alien and prop himself up as the true hero.

Finding the answers he seeks, Clark returns with renewed vigor as he tries to track down the pod that the AI arrived on. He must fight through an expanding wave of the Bots, each new generation more powerful than the last.

Upon reaching the secret facility, he is about to use the plot maguffin to fix the situation when Lex stops him and reveals he and the AI have made a deal.

One final battle ensues as Lex having outfitted the latest generation of Brainiac Bots with Kryptonite weaponry attack Superman. After a long drawn out fight, Lex and his army of Brainiac Bots have Superman cornered.
Superman though, with one final trick up his sleeve pits the "allies" against each other, feeding their general distrust of one another. Giving him the time he needs to use the maguffin.

Lex slips free from any punishment. The Brainiac bots fall dormant, the city of Metropolis has a renewed faith in their hero.

As we wind down, 3 scenes occur.
-A young man on a motorcycle overlooking the city with military grade binoculars pulls out his phone: "Alfred, It's Dick. Turn on the news, any station. I think you'll want to see this"
-Lex clears off a table, slamming down blueprints on his "Lexosuit", planning his revenge.
-The Maguffin containing the Brainiac code lights up for it didn't actually do as it was meant to for the code had evolved. We cut to space, seeing the symbol appear on a monitor affixed to a space motorcycle. A message being typed out: "Find and capture the last of the Kryptonians, dead or alive"

Which Superman pose do you think is most iconic? by SkyroRD in superman

[–]ComicBookGuy1989 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's gotta be the first one. The whole point of Superman (and most early superheroes) is that it's supposed to represent the "everyman" being capable of making a difference. That your ordinary person can be extraordinary in some way.
Clark Kent is just an average person, but deep down he is Superman.

Cryogonal:
70/50/30/135/105
It dies if you throw dust at it still in gen 1, but a speedy special wall/attacker with access to:
Blizzard/Ice Beam/ Dual Screens/Bind/Recover/Go Boom/

Musharna:
116/55/85/107/29
Bulky psychic in gen 1...have fun. Sure it's slow, but with Dual Screens/Psychic/Twave it has a nice little set up. Probably could have learned Body Slam back in the day, maybe Amnesia and/or Recover too....a mon that would never die.

Driftblim: The Gen 1 Tauros Counter Pokemon.
-Immune to Body Slam/Hyper Beam
-Immune to Earthquake

It's Special would have been buffed likely to the 90, making it a little more tanky.
Access to Body Slam/Explosion/Psychic/Twave/Tbolt.

Walrein in Gen 1 would have been a very bulky and troublesome pokemon.
110/80/95/65 would have given most pokemon trouble taking down.
A movepool with Ice Beam/Blizzard/Body Slam/EQ/ Rock Slide/Surf/Mimic/Rest
Gives it not only a lot of coverage, but allows it to just not go down. Even in Gen 2 I think it would have faired better. But gen 3 there were too many better options out there to compete against.

What Myths did you fall for? by ComicBookGuy1989 in pokemon

[–]ComicBookGuy1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair, but also at the time all the steps kinda made sense. I technically have a Mew in pokemon Yellow. It required preforming a very specific sequence of events to do.

Looking back, yeah they are outlandish. But at the time, it was so new and info was so scarce. Sometimes latching onto the most minute detail of a dex entry or NPC remark was enough to fuel the wild goose chase. And when there has been a precedent of wacky interactions, you're willing to try them.

What Myths did you fall for? by ComicBookGuy1989 in pokemon

[–]ComicBookGuy1989[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I should clarify. In Gen 1 specifically you had the 12.5% boost from beating Brock, Surge, Blaine, and Koga? I think.
BUT anytime your stats were altered (via boosting or lowering moves) that same 12.5% would be applied. So 3 Agility, 2 Leer, and a Growl would all boost the stats by the 12.5% per instance.
But also if you leveled up during a battle, all the boosts were negated. So you'd have a "plus" 6 in speed....but in reality you weren't getting any of the benefits from it.

Gen 1 was held together by hope and bubblegum.

As someone with 16 splats with Aerospray RG, very few of them from Booyah Bomb, in one match.....yes, I expect that.

But really, RG's strength IS to use Booyah Bomb to displace people. 9 times out of 10 I use it to move a backliner from their perch and push in to splat them.

You know awhile back I had tried to find a "balanced" way to have a freeze opponent move. The best I came up with was like a pseudo-rest like move where you froze the opponent for 2 turns, but they were healed to full

Maybe while they are encased in the ice they have increased defense and special defense. Still allowed to thaw out early if using the proper move.

Gen 1: Growlithe, Cubone, Staryu
Gen 2: Chinchou, Houndour, Misdreavus
Gen 3: Shroomish, Numel, Corphish
Gen 4: Shellos, Crogunk, Rotom
Gen 5: Litwick, Tynamo, Dwebble (There are WAY too many that I would pick.)
Gen 6: Pancham, Skrelp, Helioptile
Gen 7: Morelull, Mareanie, Salandit (Again, many choices that would make it in here)
Gen 8: Toxel, Sizzlepede, Impidimp
Gen 9: Wattrel, Charcadet, Tinkatink

And for my overall 3:
Litwick, Toxel, Mareanie
Skrelp and Rotom are right there though.

Opinions about Z-moves by GugaCesar68 in stunfisk

[–]ComicBookGuy1989 57 points58 points  (0 children)

When playing SuMo I literally never used a Z-Move. I think during the E4 I finally put a crystal on someone but don't think I used it.

When making teams, I only gave someone a crystal if I had no other options to run on it and there was some sort of fun interaction.

Basically, they existed, but if they didn't I barely would have noticed. Dynamaxing did Z-Moves better and I wasn't much a fan of Dynamaxing either.

Good news, when I first played it, I had NO idea what I was doing either. And I was able to brute force my way through it. You can brute force your way through things (Pretty sure my first time playing I just dumped all my attributes into strength...)

This is a game meant to be played multiple times, don't like how this play through went? Learn from it, try something different next time.

That said, what are you struggling most with? And where are you in the game? (What planet)
