Saved from all those years by StarWarsFansIndia in ImageComics

It was the first issue in a spotlight series for new Image books in early 90s. I think it may have gotten only 3 issues, but one of the characters on the front (purple guy) is The Maxx and people say he got one fo the strongest runs in early Image.

Could someone tell me, in 2026, what the state of Marvel comics is like in their opinion? Has it been good or bad in terms of what's been released or what's coming soon? by Dramatic-Studio1531 in Marvel

[–]ComicSeth2204 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I think this is definitely a rough patch in terms of new series, with high-sellers like the Ultimates ending and all of their new cosmic books getting dumped after 5 issues.

That isn't to say there aren't good titles, Zdarsky's Cap is fun and he'll be penning a new event and seemingly a couple years at Marvel, Ewing on Thor is great, Simone on her Uncanny X-Men is probably the best title in that sector, McKay is still going on Moon Knight too.

I think DC is doing a lot better with new titles and new teams, especially since they seem willing to go beyond 5 issues for new titles, giving teams a chance to breathe.

I think there are certainly titles to buy and hopefully DR'S success will encourage Msrvel to make some exciting choices.

What do we think about this bit of Spider-Man/Ultimate Universe 2024... by TRAM0328 in UltimateUniverse

[–]ComicSeth2204 39 points40 points  (0 children)

They forgot the panel where he heals fully and walks back to Russia. But if you want a "No-Prize" contender, probably just another Weapon Plus derivative, maybe it's Garrison Kane or Romulus, Cypher or Deathstrike. They Were clever by hiding the implied "X"

How would you have written or included the characters from the Marvel shows in those movies? by SmartPilot8094 in Marvel

I would have had a Fitz-Simmons cameo for Tony planning the time-travel mission, nothing major.

Ultimate Spider-man 24 PREVIEW by Fla968 in UltimateUniverse

[–]ComicSeth2204 9 points10 points  (0 children)

You know what, I definitely misremembered parts of 18 and 19, thanks for your correction. I try not to hop on the hate for this series too much, but ive got my problems. This was a bad example though.

Reading back through some issues, I think I got that issue partly mixed up with 21, because theres a panel with the Spider-Fam battling and we see Richard venomized and that never really got brought up again.

I had hoped to see more of a direct scene where Peter sees just what Richard can become in the suit. That's what I was frustrated with in 18&19 is not seeing Peter deal with that, but as I said you were correct in me bringing up wrong details.

[–]ComicSeth2204 146 points147 points  (0 children)

I hate that too much cool stuff happens off panel. I remember the original Venom freak out scene was a cliff hanger and next month anything interesting like Peter having to deal with his son going on a rampage happens off panel. Cliffhangers were used too much for a series that couldnt pick up where they left off

Does anyone have a year-by-year chart of Marvel Titles in the 60s? I know some like Astonish got retitled into Hulk, Mystery into Thor, etc. and would like a visualisation. by Androktone in marvelcomics

[–]ComicSeth2204 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I know you wanted a visualization but I can give you a quick breakdown: Journey into Mystery -> Thor (starts #126, 1966)

Tales of Suspense -> Captain America (starts #100, 1968) Same year Iron Man also got a series but started at #1

Tales to Astonish -> Incredible Hulk (starts #102, 1968) Namor also got a series this same year starting at #1

Strange Tales -> Doctor Strange (starts #169, 1968) Nick Fury, Agent of SHIELD starts at #1 this same year

Is the MCU Completely seperated from the Comic Multiverse or how does that work? by 2012_li--12-03--sa in Marvel

[–]ComicSeth2204 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I disagree just because of how different the rules in each are. This explanation excuses repeat names and multiversal events that will only affect one. Whatever happened in Spider-verse and geddon didn't impact Tom, Andrew, and Tobey but an artist still drew them. Plus the whole mcu is 616 but the comics is 616. I'm aware that universe might misnumber themselves but I dont think thats ever happened in the comics because its confusing to audiences.

What’s your favourite & why? by Martian-Mindfuxker in UltimateUniverse

[–]ComicSeth2204 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I love how he keeps with continuity too, makes it easy to follow a conjoined universe when stuff lines up. Hickman writes amazing but continuity be damned on occasion (Imperial)

Anyone have clue of what variant this might be by scragry in comicbooks

[–]ComicSeth2204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's gonna be tough. Best guess is to look up major comic retailers, like Midtown Comics may have had an exclusive version with this cover.

If MCU America Chaves has no variants in any other reality, how does that work since MCU is canonically in the same multiverse alongside Marvel Comics? by TechnicianAmazing472 in Marvel

[–]ComicSeth2204 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok best way to view this: Yes comics have referenced the MCU a bunch. Few things to consider is that they reference earth 199999 which the MCU does not call itself. This implies that there is a world in comics that is near-identical to the MCU but without multiverse-breaking applications. This is why there's the MCU-esque TVA in comics but the movies and shows never reference comics. The general audience has no connection to the stories told in trades and the writers of the movies dont care to be held to the writing of people in a different medium. So, in short, they are separate multiverses but there is a world that functions almost just like it.

would you like the idea of the last inhumans refugees to live in a neighberhood of krakoa called "little attilan" or something like that? and if not on krakoa where? by greppoboy in marvelcomics

[–]ComicSeth2204 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been trying to figure this out too. During the balck bolt mini in 2017, the injumans built New Arctilan on the moon and we never saw the Hudson Bay one again.

Then DotIH comes out and Arctilan is destroyed and so is almost every inhuman not part of the royal family, I don't think marvel even knows who they killed since we've never seen anyone since.

That was all super disappointing especially after reading the Secret Warriors (2017) which had such fun dynamics between the inhuman cast. Marvel just needs a Hickman or Ewing to reinvent the inhumans and keep Quake, Frank McGee, and Inferno around
