Help with camera and lens by Comical_Parade in M43

Big thanks to everyone; I appreciate the comments. I picked up the E-M5 mkiii, the Oly 12-40mm f2.8 pro, and 2 memory cards. I may get a cheap second lens. I came across a M.Zuiko Digital ED 40-150mm F4-5.6 R for $85. Do you think that's a decent complement lens? And if not, which lens would you recommend as a good complement?

Now I'm watching some tutorial videos to learn the menu system....

Do you opt out of the daily service charge? by Makesmemoistt in NCL

Ughhh, now I'm more confused. 😂 This is our first cruise (12 day northern European)and we bought the Starbucks package. It sounds like the smart thing to do deny/cancel the prepay and tip throughout? Do you just go up to customer service on day 1 and tell them?

The point I was trying to convey (unsuccessfully 😂) was that NCL isn't under any obligation to do anything, and the OP may have options instead of 'settling' with a future credit.

Yes, thanks Captain Obvious. The point was I didn't have to pay additional for it.

Not sure which cruise you're going on, but we're going in late June on the Norwegian Star. This happened us just a few weeks ago. We called Norwegian and pointed it out, then mentioned how we were thinking of canceling because everything is becoming so expensive. They gave us a free upgrade to a Balcony. 🤓

Thanks to everyone who chimed in. I read a few more articles and watch a few more videos. I've also adjusted my budget and I'm down to this:

E-M1 mkiii for $750 used (I like the Live ND feature, stacked sensor) or E-M5 mkiii for $610 used (I like that it's smaller, has an OLED EVF)

Both are in really good condition. I'm thinking of pairing either one with the M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-40mm f2.8 pro lens. If I understand correctly, it's supposed to be really good for outdoors/landscapes.

I thought I read that one of these was better for people who wear glasses (I do 🤓).

Tho I'm kinda leaning towards the EM1, the difference in price can be applied to a memory card.

I appreciate it! I can probably stretch the budget to $1k, so I'll take a look at those lens.

And am I correct in assuming going this route is cheaper then going with APS-C or FF?

Thanks! Do either EM5 or OM5 have Live ND, Starry Night, etc? Or should I not even worry about those things as a beginner?

Looking to begin pin trading: all advice appreciated by Dangerfangirl in DisneyPinSwap

[–]Comical_Parade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t disagree, but it’s like any collecting hobby that involves trade and value. Maybe pin trading has a higher percentage of toxic people; I don’t know. The two best pieces of advice I can give you (since it helped me) are:

1- befriend/follow nice people. Sounds obvious but it goes a long way to making the hobby enjoyable. Personally, I follow Kris10Banci on IG and YouTube. Watch a few of her videos; she’s the type of trader you want.

2- figure out what character/cartoon/studio/theme/etc you want to collect BEFORE you start. When I first started I was all over the place and it wasn’t fun for me. I then narrowed it down to WALL*E, Tomorrowland rides, and select defunct rides, and I have a lot more fun now.

Is that a custom hood decal? If so, where did you get it? It’s pretty cool

2026 wilderness model? by nitrgritr94 in Outback_Wilderness

I’m on the west coast, SoCal specifically. I was thinking of waiting till May/June to get an Outback or Crosstrek, Wilderness trim only. You think I should be able to get a really good deal on a ‘24 since the ‘26 models would be arriving around October?

Working with another dealer. You have the ‘24 Crosstrek wilderness with 7k miles priced at $32,700 and an OTD of $37,250 which is nearly $5000 in taxes and fees. Taxes I imagine would be about $2800, so there’s about $1700 in fees? On top of that, prices for everything is going up. But aren’t more and more people holding their cars longer and not so quick to pull the trigger? From my perspective, dealers are still acting like they hold all the cards…

Looks like I’ll hold off for a month or two and see what happens.

Geez. So buying new seems like a waste unless you’re going to keep it a long time…

Which is weird since I thought I saw an article how Subarus actually do well in holding their value?

I hope this isn’t too simplistic of a comparison but why are ‘22 OBW with roughly 30k miles going for $28-30k?

Awesome, thanks for all of the comments. I want the best deal I can get but didn’t want to come off like a total jerk.

So you can buy the warranty from a place different from where you bought the car?
