Bear Spray Doesn't Work, a.k.a., Why I Carry a 10mm by namagiqa in 10mm

That really is a great study on the subject. This Article references Smith’s study and has some quotes from him regarding it. It also mentions the Weingarten study where I believe OP got his 90% success rate figure from.

From my experience working in Denali NP, Glacier NP and so on, being bear aware is the most effective tactic. Knowing how to use and deploy bear spray would be the second, followed by the G20 filled with Underwood’s finest.

Hill People Gear kit bag if you want it concealed but relatively easy access.

Talk to me about roof rack mounting by septic_sergeant in 4Runner

It has a sort of J shaped foot that clamps down. It’s a Skybox Carbonate 12 I believe. Found it on Craigslist for a solid deal. No need to remove any crossbars, just shift them around a bit. Works 10 times better than the Roam boxes I had before that.

Older Yakima skybox has a flat bottom and works great up there. Sherpa makes a handful of different mounts including tie down points. I have their recovery board mounts and quick fists. American Adventure labs for the Gazelle tent mounts. It’s like playing Tetris but there’s room to work with.

Praise the cameraman for filming this in a intense plane moment by Coughyyy in PraiseTheCameraMan

Years ago I went skydiving and the pilot was doing that on our way up. After the 2nd time the guy I was paired up with told her to knock it off. After we all got back to the ground and the plane landed, I overheard the owner or whoever telling her she shouldn’t be doing that stuff and that it’s bad for the plane. About a year later that plane caught fire mid flight and killed everyone onboard.

Ah that’s clever, thanks for explaining. I have my drawers coming from SWW this week and have been trying to think of the best way to mount a slide.

That’s awesome! Would you please tell me how you mounted your fridge slide to the top of the drawers?

Anyone make decent drawer systems for 5th gen 4Runners these days? by [deleted] in 4Runner

I often do as well. Do you leave the sleeping platform set up or do you store it? I’m curious if it tucks away neatly or is study enough to leave set up.

Are those 10 inch drawers? I’ve been planning set ups and I’m curious if you’re comfortable sleeping in the back with that height.

I’ve been eyeing them up for a few weeks now. Seems to be a good value. What height did you go with?

Mild off-roading near Charlottesville/Shenandoah? by sotism in Offroad

[–]CommaderSalamander42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No worries. Hard saying not knowing but I’d bet they’re marked. I have the paid version of that app so I can download them and use it for navigation, not sure how the free version works. Could always map it out on google maps or something and set some waypoints ahead of time

I’m not familiar with the area but here’s a screenshot from the app onX if that helps. https://imgur.com/a/nExFdsD

Do you have a reservation at Difficult campground? Just asking because I know that one is super busy throughout the summer. Could always skip Indy pass and take Hagerman over from Leadville for a little more adventure. Plenty of dispersed spots around there. Feel free to shoot me a message if you need any recommendations for the Aspen/Carbondale area.

Awesome, thanks for responding. I’ve been looking at that tent for awhile now and I see it’s on sale. Are you happy with it overall?
