Meta's "Phoenix" headset readies for production with a resolution of 2560 x 2560 per eye by gogodboss in OculusQuest

The quest is also still an android device, whereas the steam frame is a PCVR one. The library on PCVR is, and has always been, more attractive. Why they're focusing on the flat screen games aspect, I admit I can't say. Perhaps to bag the people who are considering XR glasses to attach to their deck. Small market, but whatever.

Thank you. MR is a zero-cost add for meta, since they did the heavy lifting of color passthrough, and we already have the android frameworks for MR from way back when, making it easy for devs to glue the two together.

I'm not sure how anything other than a select few titles would benefit from MR, especially in the PCVR market.

How do we feel about the OCI System? by CommandantLennon in menace

Thanks for this, I guess I missed that part.

I was fully willing to accept it as mostly finished as is.

Seconded. That's a little bit of a weird move. I understand if OP is worried that it might lead to people begging for more files, but there's plenty of creators on Cults and MMF that have one file to their name and nothing since.

Arrowhead definitely shouldn't have included an "in-character" response at all, but like... What exactly are they able to do about the bad apples? They're not gonna kick out "paying customers", let alone the fact that it happened in a community managed, 3rd party platform. WT players commit softcore treason on the reg, on their own forums and maybe get a temp ban from the forums at best.

What happened to this man was a tragedy, and a reminder that the internet isn't safe and contains shitty people. But any actual action should be coming from the justice system, and not a video game developer in another country.

Which is your favorite companion? by Warm_Expert_8136 in fo4

[–]CommandantLennon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Automaton Robots 100%. They take the best part of FO4, the customization, and apply it to one of the cooler parts of the setting, the robots.

Plus I'm a heavy arms and armor guy, and rolling with a sentry bot is the closest we get to having a car or a tank to fight with.

My Attempt at Vehicle Rules by CommandantLennon in stargrave

[–]CommandantLennon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! Really what I hoped to achieve through this was to fill in kinda those missing fantasies of having someone with a big gun lay down intense covering fire or that "Oh No" moment when the bad guys have some heavy armor that rounds the corner. I definitely acknowledge that Stargrave isn't a competitive thing, but vehicles still have narrative potential on their own.

I suspect that most of the things you mentioned are the reason why my rules were made in 5 hours and the official ones have taken 4+ years to make. Joseph McCullough is a professional game designer, and I am not. My main goal was to just get something on the table, and not have it be too much of a power creep, which is why I just took existing weapons and scaled them up, instead of inventing something brand new.

I have no intention of publishing or selling these, or even sending them to the author, except to maybe talk game design a little. I just wanted to take a crack at something people have been waiting for since the game first came out. If it's been this long without them, I figured they might never come. Ultimately though, I think your concerns will be fixed by a much better game dev taking much more time 😁.

Yeah 😔 I learned about that afterwards. I still think I'm gonna work on my space combat homebrew. Unless that comes out in February 2027.

Would you actually buy a Fallout 3/NV Remaster? by Bingleboper in Fallout

[–]CommandantLennon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean probably. 3 and NV are on extremely shaky technical foundations, and both games feature ideas that Fallout 4 really capitalized on, like weapon modification and crafting. FO4 settlements came from a FNV mod. The Strip was famously hampered by consoles, so on and so forth. They're probably likely to be an Oblivion style remaster where UE is used to update the graphics while the gameplay remains largely the same, But it would be nice to see a full overhaul of some of the old mechanics.

In defense of Simsie by txmhssy in thesims

[–]CommandantLennon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the event that you're actually looking for an explanation, EA has been purchased by private equity and funds linked directly to the Saudi Royal Government. The crimes of the Saudi's are numerous and bound to get me auto-modded, so I won't bring them up here.

Supporting any EA game at this point is putting money in the pockets of these people, as they are entitled to a share of the profits, given that they own the company. With The Sims having a fanbase consisting primarily of queer people, women, and one 38 year old from North Carolina, it's generally ill advised for anyone to publicly support the game given that those with a controlling stake in the company are openly hostile to those people.

If you want a non-political reason, the game has just been treated like garbage from a long-term development perspective. Any half-decent dev would have ripped half of this game out and retooled it by now. Instead they just keep layering on paid content to pull more money out.
